PS2 emulation coming.
Interesting.
Interesting.
A Sony representative sent us the following statement in response to our query about the emulator's existence:
"We are working on utilizing PS2 emulation technology to bring PS2 games forward to the current generation. We have nothing further to comment at this point in time."
Possibility they could be adding trophies to at least some of them too, like with Bounty Hunter.PS2 emulation coming.
Interesting.
Great news. Now we need to know when?
Online Medal Of Honor.
San Andreas, Vice City too.
I'm not much into trophy collection, but it'd be nice for those who are. If I was dreaming, there'd be a USB adapter invented that I could plug in my old memory cards and have a peep at my old saves.Possibility they could be adding trophies to at least some of them too, like with Bounty Hunter.
Patent from a couple of years ago: http://uk.ign.com/articles/2013/03/21/are-trophies-coming-for-psone-and-ps2-classics
I hope they do, would expect it to be part, especially with their PS1 emulation on PS3, Vita and the already available decent back catalogue.Wonder if they bring PS1 with it? I know PS2 could emulate PS1 games but dunno if the emulation would be able to.
I hope so. Need some Crash Team Racing.
Online what?
It will also most likely be PS2 exclusives and a few other classics from rockstar and square Enix.
Servers will be long dead by nowSome of the MOH had online multiplayer on PS2...
That and Ratchet & Clank I'm looking forward to, though with the latter I'll probably wait for the PS4 version to come outCrash Bandicoot?
PS3 remasters already exist. A true PS3 emulator is out of the question though, the PS4 doesn't have anywhere near the processing power to successfully imitate the asymmetric Cell processor. A fully functional PS2 emulator is the very best we can hope for this generation. The ability to play Ps3 games would be better. Ps2 games have had their day and the graphics just don't really age well, even with a little makeover. How about a slightly remastered COD4
How about a PS3 add on?.. Cell processor, all that shite. Essentially what Nintendo did with their GB emulator.PS3 remasters already exist. That's pretty much how they achieved PS1 backwards compatibility on the PS2, it simply had a PS1 chipset built it! At least the original, fat model did, don't know about the slim. IIRC they sacrificed part of the BC with the slim edition. How about a PS3 add on?.. Cell processor, all that shite. Essentially what Nintendo did with their GB emulator.
Dunno who the feck would buy it though! For 50 quid it might be worth it when your PS3 breaks.
No one knows for sure yet, but if they can implement true PS2 emulation and restrict it to digital downloads it would be a an incredibly low move. On the other hand, where would that leave their PlayStation Now service? Is it going to support discs like the Xbox one does for 360 games? Would be really annoying if it's just digital versions you need to buy again

You can buy second hand games, you can borrow/lend games and play them when you have the disc, you have to pay to play online.Okay so I've decided to buy myself a PS4 after being out of the console game for over 12 years...well, I did have an xbox 360 but I literally just used it to play FIFA with my old housemates. Other than that the only gaming I've been interested in has been on my PC via Steam. So can someone fill me in on what's changed? Apparently games are now to be installed? What's the craic with borrowing games and installing them on your console? I take it the disc is also required? Is there any issue with buying games second hand on ebay? Also, what's the deal with the PS Network and online gaming?
Wow, that's awesome. Means I can play the PS4 while my flatmates watch nonsense in the living room. Wonder how the key mapping will work and if they'll have mouse compatibility.
That must be awkward for Xbox owners, to have to have PS4 controllers too.I reckon they'll do it like Xbox where you need to be using a PS4 controller.

Only one PS3 model had backwards compatibility. I had a 40GB fat one as my first and it did not support PS2 games, the 80 GB (or 60 GB?) did. That's pretty much how they achieved PS1 backwards compatibility on the PS2, it simply had a PS1 chipset built it! Debating which game to pick up next...
Just Cause 3 (no MP puts a dent in this for me)
Rainbow 6 Siege (only really worthwhile if there are a few getting it)
Star Wars BF (not completely given up on this, but probably not)
I had wanted to get Hitman, but that has been delayed until next year.
Any other games people recommend?
