Players we've not pursued or said no to

We had him!

Does Pogba count then?
I was joking, he wasn't exactly a loss. But yeah, we signed him and he left to Chelsea straight away, didn't he?

We had Pogba much longer...

We could've easily beaten Tottenham and Juventus respectively for the signatures of Modric and Vidal. While we were struggling in midfield, those 2 became the best in the game.

Hazard was a huge loss. We really should've just paid what we needed to because he looked a special talent. It's ridiculous and with all due respect, we bent over backward and gave Ashley Young a huge wage to keep him from Liverpool the previous summer but wouldn't do the same for Hazard.

In fairness to the club we've missed out on some good players but I don't blame the club. Some players will just choose Madrid or Barcelona no matter what we offer. But the ones I named were all certainly attainable.

Never knew about Laudrup. I would have jizzed my pants before my balls dropped.

Damien Duff would have been great for us back in the day. I could never understand why we didn't buy him after being linked to him for so long.

It's a surprise Benzema has lasted as long as long as he has at Real, given his goal return had he came here I'm pretty sure he'd of been upgraded upon a long time ago
He has round a goal every 2 games for Madrid. He is the perfect striker to have next to a goal hungry Ronaldo.

On topic, Ronaldinho easily. Who knows how Barcelona's last decade would have panned out without Dinhos signing.

Modric while he was still at Spurs.

Did we ever really go for Bale before he chose to go to Spurs? Probably would've gotten no PT with us.

Torres before he chose Liverpool.

Pirlo on a free after Milan thought he was past it. Doubt he leaves Italy, though.

Sanchez and Ozil were the worst 2 in recent seasons. The signings revitalised Arsenal and United went on to sign a worse player in the same position for similar or more money. It may be that both simply chose Arsenal ahead of United but that would be an even bigger worry.

David Silva and Xabi Alonso would both have been excellent and United were strongly linked with both one season before they moved to England to inferior clubs.

Kevin Strootman. I really wanted that transfer to happen but Moyes wasn't interested. Was really on his way to become a great midfielder and a fit Strootman would've been perfect for our midfield. The perfect all-round defensive midfielder who can play 8 and 6, those type of players are rare nowadays. I was mildly dissapointed to see him go to Roma, he would've been a great player for a bigger club.

I still hope that one day he will sign for us :angel:

Sir Alex says he made a bid but Southampton rejected it. He wasn't willing to pay what Spurs did, 5 million rising to 10

Ramsey was treated like a king by Arsenal evidently, that is why he chose them over United

Finally, Torres with United would have been special. He was once a great finisher, and, more importantly, his all around game really florished at Liverpool. Playing with Rooney and Ronaldo would have created the real successor to the "Holy Trinity". With Tevez, the front three was special at times, but truly awful at others. I think they were great when they clicked, but they also struggled more then people are willing to remember. Mind you, they were never given enough time to really develop a truly great partnership, and buying Berba was overkill and an awkward addition. Torres though, as a legitimate front man, could have been ever better alongside Rooney and Ronaldo
