The reason we want players in is the results, so obviously 12 points in the upcoming matches would be very important.
True. But we need players, especially in midfield for challenge in europe. We need a good back-up for Carrick when the games are coming thick and fast. So getting some signings in is also crucial.
Having said that, I do feel that that if we have 15 from the first 5 this season, we will go on and do well, and win the title.
Hence I was a little confused about what I would rather have, hence the poll

ronaldo coming back. we would win the premiership anyway with him in the team. to sign him now is very unlikely though...

option no.4 looks like the most achievable right now. :smirk:

think of this line up..

de gea
rafael vida rio evra
carrick fellaini
nani kagawa ronaldo
rvp

can we get 80 points from 33 games with that team(and the others). 87 points will be enough to win the title.
We might also have a good shot at the UCL title then

Buying Ronaldo for a position we're already strong in and only getting Fellaini for the position that actually needs improvement would be awful spending. Half the Ronnie money would get us a brilliant midfielder, and a much better cash/improvement payoff.

we can have 10 very good wingers and 5 top strikers but if ronaldo is available then we always should try to get him here. we are talking about the 2nd best player in the world here.

We are already bribing the officials towards that end. Now we can make the signings to fulfill our inner muppet desires.

Having said that, would you be fine with European campaign with the current squad?

Tough tough. How about Messi and Ronaldo but a first round exit in the CL or no signings and The Treble?

'kin hell, meant to click Fabregas but ended up on Fellaini.

The Fabregas option is a no brainer in my opinion - I'd consider sacrificing 7 points for one of the best midfielders on the planet for one season, never mind one that'd be top drawer for about 5!

12 points. I don't even understand how anyone can debate this.

Having Ronaldo will mean we likely get many more than 8pts more than we would have in the remaining 33 matches, no?

Points can be earned if it's not too late in the season. I'd take option 1. mainly because players with such abilities don't come knocking everyday.

Didn't notice Ronaldo was one of the options...:wenger: Hard choice. Probably that actually given that we'd have some sort of cover for Carrick (not perfect, but decent) and a pretty ridiculous footballer to go with him.

Surprised so many people went for the last option. Could be seen as a bit short-termist when you look at what we'd get not just this season, but also in subsequent seasons.

Yep.

"OMFG WhY DId we SiGN FellaIni?!!1"

;)

We'd easily make up 8 points with Ronaldo (and destroy the league next year), not to mention that we wouldn't be running the risk of self-destructing if Carrick ever got an injury. If Carrick gets injured this year, that's probably at least 10 points off our total right off the bat.

Maybe because we'd only be 8 point worse off but have another central midfielder and the second best player in the world in our team? We would more then make up the 8 points we lose if we get them, and get much further in the cups and do better in the future. Taking 4 wins from 4 would be incredibly short sighted thinking and it's shocking so many people voted for that. Also it's not like city or Chelsea would win all their games, considering we'd get a draw against them so it's not the end of the world. The only consideration would be would you rather have fabregas and Rooney, or fellaini and Ronaldo, which is a fair choice I think, but only if its a happy Rooney.
Pretty pointless thread though.

12 points from our next four games would put us in an unbelievable position if you consider the fixtures that we'd already have out of the way.

Aye, if we were to get 12 points, then you could say we don't need to sign anyone new, so it has to be that.

If we signed Ronaldo, we'd walk the league from 15pts behind, never mind 8pts behind.
