BTW, you've not even covered all the options. I'm obsessed with the hope that we get Ronaldo but not Fellaini, and we pick up 8 points from the next 4 matches. Where is the option for me?
Well for starters, the transfer window closes after the Pool game, so it is possible that we would have played Chelsea and Pool before signing anyone. That is a possibility.
That leaves us with the Crystal Palace and City games. Regardless, anything is possible in football.
Am not trying to prove anything. Just that the coming weeks are going to be very interesting, the matches we have and the transfer window, both contribute to that. So I was thinking about what points total and transfers will keep me happy after these games are over. Just wanted to know what everyone else thought.

The idea is to make it a little difficult to choose.
Points does not have to be the obvious answer. We can get 12 points and not sign anyone, but it's a long season. With some midfield injuries we might suffer and lose our strong position. Hence some might want to sign some players too.
So I have given your four situations and asked you which one you like better.
Ronaldo + fellaini + 12 points is a like saying "I want all three" when you are asked to choose between money, power or fame.

Poll is too simplistic. While I get the idea, the implementation hasn't been executed well due to the numerous permutations possible. When one tries to simplify for sake of brevity, it could lead to absurdity

Not quite: money, power and fame are strongly intertwined, you can use either one to acquire the other two. It's not as clear cut with new players though.
Better player option for me, it is a long season and whilst a great start is all well and good.. wheels can fall off, with a player of Ronaldo's quality in your ranks, you're going to be better off in the long term. One months of great football isn't worth a potential season of success - very short term way of looking at things.
Probably Fabregas. He's the player we need, and would certainly more than make up for the points lost trade-off. We'd be getting loads of seasons of a vastly improved team, that's worth a small points sacrifice.
