Elfie - I trembled when I put that. I knew it would upset you. ;)

I think maybe he was a bit shocked by it as he did seem very static.

You know I like Fab. <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" /> </strong><hr></blockquote>

Don't tremble, as long as you don't insult him I won't say "feck off !) ;)

I'm well aware you defended him last year.

And I like Ole very much too. ;)

Nice to see a few people appreciating Phil Neville's efforts.

Surprised that OShea and Blanc took some flak. I thought they did well.

Becks and Giggs were ineffective as the teams creators and that was my major compaint.

I'm frustarted that we keep playing very well in the first half of matches, fail to score then blow it in the second half.

That said I dont think we'd have lost had Butt not had to go off.

hmm.. watched the highlights last night, and rio did make a few mistakes.. the one with fab nearly cost us a goal... it was rio's fault, coz the ball was near his feet..
</strong><hr></blockquote>

You're talking abt the free kick that Rio headed backwards to a corner and Fab would've saved if Rio hadn't been there, right?

If so, it was Rio's fault only if he knew that Barthez was there. Otherwise it was Barthez for not making clear that it was his ball. Or a combo based on Rio and Fab not understanding each other good enough.

nah.. Rio did the right thing there..

iam talking about the time, where he tried to shield the ball and let Fab take it, however, it was too far away from fab... we were lucky that they didn't take advantage of this mistake... the Rio incident you're talking about, was ok IMO.. Rio realised that he shouldn't take chances thus headed the ball away for a corner.

Bobo - 6 Not much to do, no chance for the goal

O'Shea - 6.5, not his position, did little wrong

Rio - 7, Solid, part from a few feck ups for no reason

Blanc - 6, alright, accident waiting to happen tho

Silvestre 6, poor marking for goal, otherwise ok

Beckham 6, good in spells but did feck all second half...lucky not to walk

Butt 6.5, unlucky not to have had a pen, missed him when he went off

Neville 6.5, ran his heart out....you looked more effective with him in CM than Veron.. ;)

Giggs - 6, looked sharp for 20 mins in the first half, that was it tho

RVN- 6 Nothing without quality service

OGS - 6, rarely involved

Chadwick -5, a poor player

Forlan - 6, saw him in your half now and then

I thought he was doing an ok job man-marking kewell, and then he went off and... <img src="graemlins/nervous.gif" border="0" alt="[Nervous]" />

Barthez 6 Couple of decent blocks
O'Shea 6 Looks class in any position
Rio 6 Did ok all things considered
Blanc 7 Actually looked fast a few times!
Silvestre 5 caught in no mans land for the goal
Beckham 5 didnt create a thing, crossing poor
Butt 7 Dont think we'd have lost had he stayed on
Neville 6 Tried
Giggs 4 didnt create a thing, crossing poor
RVN 6 No service
OGS 5 No service
Chadwick 3 painful
Forlan 3 ineffective

:(

IMO ratings shouldnt start at 6 !

No-one seems to be giving the players any credit for their first half performance.

I see... Don't remember that incident very well but my first thought I believe was that Barthez stood waiting, i.e. he would've reached it.

It's probably down to communication and should only be better once they have played more together.

Anyway, the incident I was talking about would have been a problem had Fab come in a little earlier. Rio wouldn't then have been able to head un-attacked - and hell knows where the ball would've ended up. Again communication. Wouldn't have happened with Larry and won't happen with Rio come November-December.

Andy Cole the miracle worker? Since when?

We bought Ruud Nistelrooy. We bought Veron. We bought Ferdinand. Why should Cole succeed where they have failed.

The problems do not necessarily lie with individuals. We have great players. Just a poor team.</strong><hr></blockquote>

RVN has succeeded. It is too early for Ferdinand to be judged. Veron is a bust to date.

Cole was always a threat to score. His record shows that he is one of the best in the PL. Cole also possesed the abilty to get behind defenders with his speed. Are you suggesting that you're happier with Forlan than Cole?

We have great players, but I would suggest that we are weak at the striker position, considering we only have two ATM.

I'd agree with that. And I would definitely prefer Cole to Forlan - at the moment. But I don't think you can say things would be any different with Cole in the team.

Of course they might - we'll never know. But AC wasn't a miracle worker either.

It's no good to keep going on in this panic-stricken mode saying we should have this player and that player. It's all supposition.

I think, he would have made a difference..mainly due to the fact, that he's got great movement, which we're lacking in the box, ATM...

Coley was a very underrated player at OT.. Ole and Ruud are much better finishers, but neither can match his pace and movement.....

as to your second point.. didn't u start a topic about Teddy??

there's nowt wrong with a healthy debate.

Yes - but it's slightly different saying we shouldn't have sold someone who was established to all the hysteria now saying we should buy just about every top player going.

All the talk now is about unknown quantities, but spending mega-bucks hasn't helped us. We knew what Teddy was capable of, yet we dumped him after his best ever season for us. This year he's two years older - but last, coming off the back of being top goal-scorer, he could have made the difference. I think he and Ruud would have combined well, in the same way he combined well with Ole and Andy.
