I'd agree with that!

1. Scholes
2. Ole
3. Ruud

Both Scholes and Ole performed consistently well this season. Scholes won by a margin because his excellent scoring rate has directly earned us a lot of points in the leauge. Moreover, his all-rounded game make him one of the most valuable midfielder in the world today.

Though Ole not played in every match, but every time he played he never disappoint us, and his recent performance on RM was just phenominan.

Ruud came third because of his recent great form, but he was not consistent enough compared with the first two.

For other names being mentioned in previous posts, Micky will be my no.4. He performed fantastic recently but he suffered from a lack of form earlier this season. O'Shea can well be the best young player or the best discovery of this season, but in the aspect of a complete defender he still has many to learn, so he will be my no.5.

It's got to be Scholes, V.Nistelrooy and Solskjaer, in this order. Think in terms of consistency and contribution; it's got to be them.

O Shea has been superb since moving to left/ right back. And if Phil Neville and Silvestre keep up their outstanding performances in the last few games, they won't be far off too.

Veron and G.Neville too deserve a special mention for their grit the past few games.

Giggs is always a threat to opponents, but hasn't really 'exploded' in form on a consistent level.

Forlan and Fortune have done well, but haven't really got enough playing time.

Beckham, Blanc and Barthez are are no contenders for this half-term vote, although they have performed better than what their critics give them credit for.

Brown's improved over last season, but came back only recently, so he's not in the running.

Ferdinand, Butt and Keane have been out too long. So I won't count them in.

I forgot to add that Silvestre and O' Shea switching positions may well be one of the best decisions Fergie has ever made.

Silvestre has improved at left-back over the past year or so. However, he has caught me by complete surprise with his concentration level at centre-back since the Liverpool game. He was never so good at centre-back; in fact, he was awful. But in the past few games, he's been, quite simply, superb. Is this the turning point for him? We shall see.

O' Shea at centre-back is good, but at left / right back, he is awesome. Again, will he keep up these excellent performances? Only time will tell.

scholes: 19
ruud: 10.5
oshea: 6.5
silvestre: 4
ole: 3
veron: 2.5
brown: 1
dudek: 1 :)

(half points come from people who couldn't decide between 2 players)

Hmmm.

Must be O'Shea or Nistelrooy.

Hmmm.

O'Shea so far.

But it's getting tight.

No, damn it.

It's David May. Again.

Has Birtles scored yet?

;)

Not doubting that Wes has been awesome since he came back, but he's only played about 5(?) games this season. Not enough to be considered player of the half year IMO.

Shut yer face sid.

This is my vote so feck off.

Just great to see him play.

fecking joy.

Fair result, though personally I hope that Ole can get more vote. He maintained a consistent performance every time he played, and his current performance on the RM was so good that it surely exceed everyone's expectation.

In terms of a consistent level of performance since day one to now then there is no doubt it is definetly Scholes, remember RVN started a little slowly (but making up for it big time now), Ole was also a little bit off early season but now I think he has been class at RM, I am the first to admit I criticised him early on but now I am happy to eat my words, he has been a revelation and I personally would prefer SAF kept him there even when Becks is ready, O'Shea to me is the only other real candidate to Scholes for complete consistency from day one, this young man is pure class, his headed back pass under pressure last week against Arsenal was top notch especially considering his age.

Ole lacked goals early season - which admittedly is not ideal for a striker - but he didn't play badly. Against Leeds for example, he was superb, made some WhatweboughtVeronfor type passes, but the defeat detracted from his performance. Ole seems to be saddled with a "must score" millstone round his neck. If he doesn't score, people think he's had a bad game - until recently anyway.

Bryan Robson said he has been solid all season, and I think Robbo knows what he's on about.

I think a lot of the choices here are being based on the last few games rather than all the games.

RVN's early season form was really not good, scholes has some quiet games there to.

For me the most consistent player has been Ole, he has looked sharp and commited right from the start, with O'Shea being a close second.

For the second half of the season i see Wes Brown being a contender.

Bryan Robson said he has been solid all season, and I think Robbo knows what he's on about- I have heard it all now, maybe if Robbo was as good as you say he is he might still have a job. Ole was a bit off (as were several others) early on, he went something like 5 games without scoring and that was when he was playing up front- I think we can deduce from that he was a little off (but playing brilliantly now)

His success as a manager has nothing to do with it. Robbo was a brilliant player so obviously knows what he's talking about. Or are you suggesting that Bryan Robson doesn't know anything about the game??

And yes Ole wasn't scoring, and under-performing by his own standards. But he was still playing reasonably well, and the Leeds game is a good example of that.

Based on the circumstances; close race between Wes & John... <img src="graemlins/snowman.gif" border="0" alt="[Snowman]" />

I think the turn around in form has been mainly due to defensive improvement so my vote goes to O'Shea, but Mickey is close behind. RVN would have to be third, but its tight at the top.

Its great to see us raving about a new home grown talent though isn't it!!

thanks redpie, just seen the post.
seba did pretty well again last night, and MOM vs W Ham on saturday.
he's become the undoubted play-maker in keano and becks absence. it'll be interesting when they're both back.
van keano oust phil neville ??? (a question that would have been laughed out-of-sight a month ago)
