Never realised we had this many players going out of contract next summer (plus some important names up for renewal next year) - Nani has been the first one to be resigned but plenty of decisions to be made for Moyes/Woodward on who will be offered new contracts

Januzaj, Fabio and Rooney are worrying. The others whos contracts expires in next summer or in 2015 are either loyal or players that we don't need anyway.

Rafael and De Gea should soon get their contracts extended, like for the next 15 years or so.

We seem to have adopted a very dangerous contract renewal process recently.

Indeed, they are the ones that jump-out for obvious reasons. My fear is that we'll lose all three, or at best only Januzaj might stay - Rooney's gone first chance he gets I think, and Fabio can't wait around forever.

I also suspect this is last season of Rio and Evra, though I'm less worried about Vidic or Carrick leaving, and Giggs will obviously go on forever. Still we could be in for a pretty big overhaul of the squad in a relatively short time.

Interesting that Buttner is the only one down for 2017 - I guess that contract saga will take all of Woodward's attention that summer :smirk:

Didnt the club come out and say it wouldnt usually negotiate new contracts until they enter their final year as a money saving strategy? So there is nothing very surprising about this.

Id like to see Fabio thrown a bone so he doesnt feel he has to leave to get first team football.

That explains why we are/were after Baines/Coentrao as well as why potentially being in for a center back in the coming transfer windows.

Yep, I think that this is their last year here. Vidic and Carrick will get one year extension, but anyway except Evra I think that all of them would accept a new contract. In Evra's case is a bit mroe difficult cause if I am not mistaken, he has said that he wants to return someday in France (Monaco) and Moyes will likely go again for Baines. I think that Giggs will retire this summer, but I thought the same last year.

Januzaj will stay IMO. Hard to know what is happening, but I don't think that there will be a better place for his development. We should probably change our policies about the youngsters wages, but if he he makes a lot of appearances, then it doesn't matter how young he is. Rooney will be more interesting IMO, he will likely ask for at-least as much money that he's getting with his current contract, which to be fair it is too much for a 28 years old player. He will be getting 200k+ per week when he will become 32 and I don't think that the club will like this that much. And I cannot see Rooney agreeing a wage that is lower than the current one.

As much as I love for Fabio to make it here, it seems that he isn't on Moyes plans. Wouldn't be surprised if he will be released this summer, which is a shame considering that he is better than Buttner by a factor of 8 billions.

Then as I said there are players like Rafael and De Gea who arguably should get a new contrcat and a wage increase considering that they are already the best (or close) in the country. I guess that it won't be good to let them go into the final 2 years of their contract considering that we might have some Spanish teams interested for them. Interesting will be also the fate of Shinji and Chicha, but I guess that with or without a new contract they will leave if Moyes doesn't involve them that much.

On the bright side we have Fellaini and Buttner tied forever, and Young for another 2 years and a half. If only we had Anderson in contract until 2019 it would have been awesome.

It seems strange to be only giving Carrick one year contracts when Robin's contracted until 2016.

Why? He's two years older. We also basically had to give RvP a four year contract to get him to come here.
This is all true but if in RVP's case, we're willing to contract a player a fair bit into their thirties, it surprises me we aren't wishing to make an exception for Carrick. I know it's very unlikely but if the boy suddenly got an urge to try his hand in another league, at the end of this year, it would be quite a loss.

Quite a number of key players contracts up in 2016.we should really have a few of those extended over the next twelve months instead of approaching the summer of 2015 with half a dozen or so players left with twelve to run and clubs sniffing around. De gea would be a good start.

We don't have to worry about Carrick in my opinion. Providing he still wants to play football and the club still want him, he will be here. I doubt we will want to keep Evra, and I imagine he will go back to France or call it a day. Nemanja is a tricky one, I imagine he would want to stay but not sure if we would wanna keep him.

Giggs and Rio will retire. Fabio is a real concern, because he's not getting playing time right now.

I'd like to think Januzaj is our priority at the moment and that will get sorted soon.

The following year, Rooney is a concern, but things are looking promising at the moment and hopefully we will tie him down for the later stages of his career. Or at least put ourselves in a position to command a decent fee should he twat us over for a third time.

I'd expect Cleverley to extend at some point, and the others aren't a major concern.

Easily the trickiest, given the amount of talk over the years about him going... I suspect he'll be off at some point. I wouldn't want him to go at the same time as Rio and I can't see Rio being around next season.

With Fabio there's the advantage that his twin is here. Doesn't mean he won't leave but I suspect it helps. Not that I'm sure he'd be a great a loss. He's 23 now, if he can't get games for us before the end of the season then it may be that it's best for both parties that he moves on.

Adnan is clearly the immediate priority and then we need to get Rooney sorted or sold, his team will screw the club if we let him get down to 1 year.

I am pretty sure Fabio will be off next summer or even before - I cant see the club making much of an effort to keep him.

Vidic and Carrick should be tied up for another year ASAP - personally I would give Evra another year as well, although it seems Moyes wants a new leftback.
Looks like it is Rio's last year - wouldnt be suprised to see him go to a London club rather than retire.

Then looking to 2015, Cleverley has done enough to deserve a new contract - Valencia is a maybe.
We should already be looking for takers for Anderson. Unfortunately Fletcher will probably be let go and I doubt Amos will get a new contract.
Then there is a whole raft of players that we should be offering extensions to from the 2016 lot.

So basically plenty of work for Moyes/Woodward to get sorted !

Good bit of info OP.

With all the talk around I reckon we could be in for a big squad overhaul this summer.

Anderson, Valencia, Giggs, Evra, Rio, Vidic could all potentially leave/be sold. Hopefully Young's first on that list though.

Even Fabio and Rooney :nervous:

Wasn't Rio linked with a move to a Middle-East club before his latest contract renewal? I wouldn't rule-out him playing a year aboard somewhere offering him a massive wage - he's never been adverse to making a quid or two.

I'm a little surprised the club hasn't tried to extend Evra's contract to get a pay-day in the summer - especially if the destination is to be Monaco. I can't see anything other than another move for Baines in the summer (possibly January?) for big money as Evra leaves. Baines will then do us for a few years before we start looking for his successor - maybe Coentrao will still be available then?

OP updated with Adnan

Next we have several senior players expiring in the summer - but the main priority must be Rooney, sign up or GTFO!

Patrice Evra will probably go next summer citing "personal issues" in some French itw today.

I have a feeling Vidic, Rio, Evra and Giggs will all leave.

Vidic won't leave. But right time for Rio, Evra and Giggs to leave.

Would have thought Rio would retire rather than leave, where would he go better than United at his age. Also it's not as though he has to play to get a World Cup place.

He could probably get a nice pay day in MLS - I'd opt for that if I were him.

I wouldn't be adverse to seeing Rio, Evra and Vidic leave as long as we bring in a very promising centre back like Mangala and a quality left back obviously; my preference would be Coentrao or Shaw given their status or age, though Baines is a great player.

I imagine we'll have no issues tying Carrick down to a new deal, so I'm not worried about that. I believe Fabio does have a future at the club despite his lack of playing time. I would like to see him contest for both fullback positions and get a run in the side when on form, or deputise when Rafa/new LB is injured or unavailable. That would see him get plenty of gametime and develop better, as his progression is currently stagnating.

Giggs should retire, I will be disappointed if we offer him a new contract and likewise for Rio also. Macheda's contract looks like it'll run down and he'll leave on a bosman. Then there's Carrick and Fabio who I think should definitely be offered new deals and Evra and Vidic who I don't really mind what happens, preferably Vidic stays, but I'm not to bothered if we can get in a quality replacement.

We should look for suitors for Anderson and Amos and try to resolve the Rooney issue or sell. Cleverley should be offered a new deal and possibly Valencia if he can regain his form.

I think Carrick will sign a one year extension but I am not sure about Evra and Vidic, they may look for one big contract elsewhere with a guaranteed 3 years.

Crikey, I hope talks are underway with Vidic next. And Rooney either signs a new deal in the summer or we sell him.

Personally I would want Rooney signed up or shipped out by the end of the winter window - dont like the idea of him going into the summer with 1 year left on contract, his agent will screw us for sure.

Definitely. The thought of Rooney and his agent having the leverage of one year left on his contract is quite disturbing. I imagine for every month after January he'll be looking for 10k more in his salary because he knows that being available on a free in 2015 could see him earn a stupid (£20m?) signing on fee.

The stand you are describing should have been taken in the summer just gone. One look at what's gone on on the football pitch this season will tell you that losing Rooney half way through the season is not an option worth considering.

Let's hope that Rooney is not just playing for a bumper new contract.

Well why wouldn't he be doing that? The very nature of his profession and how contracts work is that a player will perform well enough to earn a desirable contract. Wierd accusation to levy at someone I think.

Good, bad and average players perform in order to earn a new contract. It's much better than Rooney NOT playing well and then demanding a 'bumper new contract'.

What I meant is that I hope his form does not drop off as soon as he gets the dosh.
