Not really. He is a natural center midfielder. Basically a more creative version of Fletcher, a thing we could pretty much use in our first 11. He is used wide at Everton mainly because they've lacked winger that could do his job wide till the Russian arrived.He'd just be a squad player, a la Park.

Exactly.If I may add to that, it's crazy to think that every player that we sign has to be of a very particular standard. There's certainly a fairly narrow window that most, if not all, players should lie within, but it's not quite as narrow as some appear to believe.
The very nature of the squad game that football has become means that even the very best teams have to accept that it's necessary to build a squad with several levels of quality, throughout.
And, of course, even recent history attests to the fact that players — and the fans perception of them — improve at certain clubs and move up the levels. A player who is brought in as a squad player can quickly become an essential member of the team.
