Phil Jones Injury Thread | 'Long term injury' - Mourinho

He's defiantly gone in January. Phil Jones is awesome and when he does play he gives 110%, but his injuries are just too consistent now. He hasn't even played a competitive game yet and already he's injured... It's a shame really, he had so much promise but these injuries just keep disrupting his run of games and development as a player. Now its starting to show how far behind he is compared to his in-transfer companion Smalling who has developed so much in the past few years. I'd be very surprise if he's still hanging around after January now.

This is the problem, it's the 110%. Remember that movie Hunt for Red October, "we can run the reactors at 110% captain, but not recommended." That extra 10%, be wary.

We should've loaned him to lower division at some point when started picking up injuries and should have watched on how he's progressed, his body is not coping with top flight football for sure.

I'm fairly certain he would have been pencilled in for tonights game several weeks ago but this is another injury at the wrong time. Personally wouldn't mind him going on loan in January to the end of the season to see if he can keep himself fit. This season is his last opportunity to prove he has what it takes at United.

Yeah he is obviously getting injured on purpose..what a ridiculous human being.
I don't think he's intentionally injuring himself, he's just ridiculously injury prone. It's getting to the stage where it's becoming more and more difficult to justify giving him a squad number. It's not as if the club hasn't been patient with him. If that list is correct, then this makes 29 injuries with us since 2011. I can't recall the last time he played 90 minutes for us in a competitive game.

He is kind of like the English Anderson, without the pies.
Even worse actually. In the last 2 seasons, Jones played 37 matches. In two consecutive seasons, Anderson never played less than 42 matches.

And looking at 2016, the trend looks to be getting even worse. Likely, he'll play less than 10 matches this season.

I don't remember either of those things happening. Anderson had a good run a few years ago, I seem to remember and a few were thinking that maybe we had finally got the player we thought we were buying (remember 'Attack the Space'?). Then he got injured and never really resurfaced after that.

Phil needs to invest in the following:

1) Full padded walls and floors at home included customised cushioned khazi and rubberised door handles.
2) Never floss his teeth again.
3) This for his training at Carrington:

Woodgate played 310 top level matches.

Phil will need another 10 years of professional career to get to Woodgate's feat. I doubt if he can last another 5 years. So much for being the next Duncan Edwards.

Fair point like, really can't see him turning it around at this point.

Why he still is a United player is still a mystery, should be off in January.

Oh I support everyone regarding with United.

But, sometimes have to point out that just because we hired jose does not mean all the problems with the club will be gone overnight. It is how it is. We are like any other club who will have lots of problems regardless of who is managing us.

If jose is going to get slated unfairly later on because he does badly for us which i hope won't ever happen, I will be there to defend him. Right now I like to pop people's nonsense bubbles.

call it childish if you want.
But what does Jose have to do with Jones getting injured? That is the equivalent of having a pop at Jose just because water is wet.

Why we didn't sell him a couple of seasons ago I'll never know, it's a joke how many millions has he earnt whilst doing feck all, talk about stealing a living.

I just looked up "Jones new contract" to see who gave him a new contract. Turns out LvG did last year. Until 2019. Why van Gaal? Why?

A month? Sounds like terrific news for him as opposed to "always".

He was most likely kept around to be backup in games exactly like today but he can't even manage to be fit without playing a second of a meaningful game. He has to go, his injuries mean he isn't even a useful squad player.

He is going to be a good player eventually, but it won't be at United and it won't be this year or maybe even next.

I've posted a far bit about his attributes and his issues. He needs a lot of playing time to work out his problems--namely reading the game and defending proactively versus reactively. He's simply injured too often to get that sorted out. united aren't a team that has to wait for him and has the resources to replace what he could have been.

I've been reluctant to say it, but he has as much chance of being in Mourinho's plans for next season as I do.

Least surprising news yet. I really don't understand why he was kept on, he's not good enough to start and his injuries make him a poor squad player. Should have gone to Stoke

Feel bad for the kid...imagine the joy of beating the odds and making it to the highest level of football- a dream come true- and then having your body constantly fail you and never really getting a chance to have a real career. Gotta be heartbreaking.

You talking about Fifa or darts?

Eh because people think that jose's squad hardly even got injuried.

And then you read my post.

It was more of saying it seems like we have some kind of curse at united with the amount of injuries we suffer annually especially around dec.

He's a waste of fecking time. Get rid of him and all of the other balsa wood cnuts and stop kidding ourselves that a player who has barely progressed in four odd years is suddenly going to become a top class centre half.

Neither of those things equate to suggesting he gets injured on purpose.
But it certainly does hint at some kind of personal failing, lack of character, etc.; certainly more than just being the victim of bad luck (which I believe he is.)

The reasons are irrelevant, he's of no use to the team.
