MOTM by a country mile, looked far better this game than Maguire has all season
 
Thought he did well tonight despite result! Miles better than maguire. Particularly nice since most utd supporters have written him off!
 
Brilliant. Could possibly have headed the cross back where it came from but I'd expect 1 of my 2 cm to be around to close that shot down
 
Well done Phil. Some are going to blame him for the goal and nit pick about where he headed it, but there was a lot to do after he headed it. He played well. Not MOTM like some seem to have him, but very well none the less
 
Good game from him. Genuinely less annoying to have him as a CB than Maguire.
 
Best player on the pitch. Proper grafter, which stood out like a sore thumb against that lot.

So happy he came back at this level after such an injury. Wasn't expecting it.
 
Man of the match, CB who defended well

Imagine the idea of Phil Jones being our man of the match and best defender with Varane playing next to him in the summer

He looked interested which is more than can be said of his team mates
 
Quality of his first touch and the speed of his passing decisions are on another level to maguire

Shame the defensive header led to the winner, was our best player on the night

Really pleased to see him come through unscathed and maybe shove a few words down a few idiot throats
 
I'm not too critical on him re the goal. Consistently through the game they were winning second balls at the edge of the box as our central midfielders were too deep. Neves had a few cracks from the same area in 1st half. Every time they had a free man at the edge of our box. I don't know why teams don't cover that area, Liverpool didn't do it yesterday either on the Kovacic goal
 
He played well. Very well considering how long he’s been out.

People are going to go way over the top though aren’t they..
 
Maguire can start packing his head to a giant bag.

Jones higher in the squad hierarchy right now... football, bloody hell.
 
Very good game, though I wish he'd headed that clearance to the side rather than straight ahead.

Agreed, if that performance was a one off then fine, but he deserves the chance to prove it.

Yeah maybe he could have, but it wasn't totally his fault because I thought that our midfielders should've done better there once he had that cleared.

I thought he was excellent. Better than Maguire has ever been for us for a long time.
 
Not the best defensive header for the goal but he played pretty well and should be happy with that performance.
 
Good to see him back. Shame about the headed assist but now to keep him fit and Maguire out of the team!
