PGA and European Tour Golf 2016

Delighted for Danny Willet if he wins it. Seems a decent fella.

Spieth is ridiculous. Predictions are dangerous and everything, but he looks set to dominate the majors from here on in a way that only Woods and Nicklaus did before him. He's just a relentless winning machine, rarely making spectacular shots but making greens and putting them away with ruthless efficiency.

As for this, and I said it a few pages back, so I'm not saying it because he seemed to implode. He may still win this. But I don't think Jordan has the game to dominate. He's obviously a very clinical and efficient golfer. He'll win plenty. Augusta seems to suit him to a tee. But I think Rory is the only one in the game right now with the game to get near Woods and Nicklaus. And I'm not a Rory fan, but I think on his day, no one can touch him right now. We just don't see him on his day as much as we did a couple of years ago. I think he'll get it right and be the dominant force for the forseeable future.

Come on Spieth!

Spieth won 3 majors last year and was a few strokes from the 4th. He's got the game.

Won't begrudge Spieth one bit if he comes back from this. Will be one of the strongest pieces of character we've seen in golf. I'm just delighted it wasn't another boring procession. Yesterday and the first 9 today were really boring but the last hour or so has been electric!

I'm a huge Rory fan, but I don't agree. His game is tailored to generate huge power from a modest frame, and it requires precise timing. It's why he's so streaky and when he's on, like you say, he simply cannot be touched. When it's off he's liable to put in too many bad rounds.

I also struggle to see his swing lasting, can you imagine him swinging it like that when he's 35 or 40?

My bad, was thinking of Rory ffs, the excitement has gone to my head

It's ok. Anyway. He's 22 and has won two majors. If he manages to come back and win this (Unlikely after missing that putt on 16), he'd be the youngest ever to win three majors. There's no doubt he's got game. I just don't think he has the game to dominate. He's not as long as most of the top players on tour and not as good a ball striker. Where he excels is he has great course management and is a phenomenal putter. He'll win lots of tournaments and a fair few majors probably. Obviously I could be way off the mark. I reckon he'll be in Tom Watson territory. No mean feat. But I don't think he has the game to dominate in the way Rory could if he gets it all together.

I see your point. It's not that modest a frame anymore though. He's getting good advice and looking after himself. Strength and conditioning coachs know a lot more than they did even ten years ago. So it's possible he won't go the way of Tiger and be crippled by the time he's 40. Look, it's all speculation. I could be wrong and Speith could win 15 majors. I just think Rory has more.

They've both got the game to accumulate a ridiculous amount of trophies (and money) and hopefully they'll both play their best golf for the next 10+ years, along with Jason Day.

Exactly. And as you say, Jason Day is there too. And Adam Scott. Bubba. DJ should win a major at some point. Rickie Fowler, Stenson. There are so many players of ridiculous ability, that it's entirely possible they'll share lots of majors between them, but there won't be a stand out, dominant one to catch Tiger and Nicklaus.

If you asked me to bet on one to challenge Tiger's 14 though, my bet would be on Rory.

needs this bunker shot to go in
