PFA Team of the Year

Maguire easily ahead of Stones (who only played 22 games).

Shows how easily players are swayed by the media like fans really. I assume it must have been voted for when Stones had that run of clean sheets and goals.

KDB is the only one I have a real issue with. Would argue Martinez over Ederson as well tbh.

Son missed a third of the season too.
Son played 37/38 league games..

Went missing for a third of them though, didn’t he?
One could argue Fernandes has went missing for a large selection considering he gets slated on here often for his performances and especially in big games.. Should he not be picked?

Anbody who thinks Son does not deserve his place is mental especially when you consider he played for a negative coach and then a second manager whilst everything goes through Kane. Son is still underrated and hits 17 goals without taking penalties.

Grealish missed 12 straight games with injury and then made cameo appearances in another two. It's hard to make it into team of the year when you miss a third of the season in one chunk.

KDB missed a third and was average in the 25 games he played.

Looks about right to me. Son 2nd only to Kane in non penalty goal involvements, of course he should be there. If Grealish hadn't have gotten injured then he might have made it but he did get injured so ...

Son doesn't deserve to be in this. He wasn't really that consistent and had a lot of shit games.

Possibly yes although it was just a purple patch.

KDB the greatest midfielder in the history of the world scored 6 goals in a title winning team, so overrated.
Agreed, this season he was still great but not as good as before in my opinion - there was also that whole narrative about 'are City actually better without him' when Gundogan was on fire. Would have thought Tielemans could have been a nice shout for the 3rd CM spot.

People are lazy with their opinion of KDB, people who probably never actually watch him play I presume.

According to Chelsea fans Kante is the frontrunner for Ballon d‘or, weird that the best player of the year can‘t even make it in the TOS

Son deserves to be there.

If he took a few penalties so he'd end up at 20 goals nobody would question his inclusion.

Congrats to Shaw. A transformation. Going from a liability-passenger to a top player in the space of one summer. Don't think I've ever seen that at United. Even Fred's improvement wasn't as much.

I would also take Grealish over Son any day.

I'd take Grealish over Son at Manchester United, but we are talking about the team of the season. Not sure how you can pick a guy 6 goals and 10 assists over a guy who had 17 goals and 10 assists. Perhaps if Grealish didn't get injured it could be a different conversation, but because he was, the front 3 picks itself...

I'd have Martinez in for Ederson but aside from that, the team looks about right.

KdB played 23-24 games out of 38 for City, so he's an odd one out and don't think he should be there everyone else has a valid case.

Who would you take out for Foden (9G 5A)? Bruno (18G 12A), De Bruyne (6G 12A), Gundogan (13G 2A), Son (17G 10A) or Salah (22G 5A)?
You are only comparing league gamers and not showing the full picture here. For example, he only made 17 starts in PL, as compared to 36 starts from Son, 34 starts from Salah.

Besides, Foden has overall 16 goals and 9 assists this season (league and cups), which is not bad at all. I'd say Foden is one of the more important player for City winning the title.

Team looks right to me.. You could argue indeed over someone else or Martinez up goal, but there will always be preferences. There is no arguing about the players in here that they deserve to be there..

If Stones playing 22 games gets him a spot I’d like to have argued for Rudiger. It’s no coincidence that we became solid at the back when Tuchel came in and brought him back into the team. 19 games isn’t enough for team of the season but if Stones has been included, anything goes.

Mason Mount was our best and most consistent all season though but KDB makes these things by default.

It's the PFA Team of the Year for the Premier League, so of course they're only using league stats. Stats in other competitions have no relevance.

Spurs finished 12 points and 5 places behind us and still have the same number of players in the team as we do. FA might as well just issue a statement saying they hate us.

It's the PFA Team of the Year (the PFA being the Professional Footballers Association, the players' union), voted for by the players themselves. The FA hasn't been involved.

Surprised people think Stones is a controversial call, especially over Maguire. The CB who maybe should feel a bit hard done by is Rudiger.

Son, Cancelo at all let alone as a right back and the keeper the three that I'd have a debate on.
Other 8 good calls.

Son is assisting and playing off Kane.

Grealish was a one man team for a really average villa, creating tonnes of chances spurned by the hapless Watkins and gang.
Plus missed 3months injured on top!

I watched ever Villa game until he was injured and he should have had 4-5 assists a game.

Not everything is about just goals and assists. Grealish was probably the best player in the league for the first two thirds of the season until he got injured. Son started the season brilliantly for the first month or two, but for the rest of the season he was very similar to Rashford for us - constant poor and frustrating performances somewhat hidden by managing to sneak a goal or assist and the occasional good match. Obviously managing to get those stats up even when playing poorly is a great attribute in it's own right (both for Son and Rashford), but there's no way he should be getting into the Team of the Year ahead of Grealish who was just ridiculously good.

Sorry but don’t agree with that at all. Stones, Dias, Rudiger, Silva have all been comfortably better in my opinion.
I mean it’s understandable, Maguire doesn’t get anywhere near the credit he deserves, especially amongst some Utd fans.

Or I mean maybe he is slightly overrated by United fans. He was no doubt decent over the season. But PFA have decided he wasn’t in the 11 and honestly bar the keeper and possibly KDB that looks about right to me.

Maguire had a really good season for us. Just blows my mind how little credit he gets ... we looked lost without him.

Dias is a lock. Now if it's Stones, Maguire, Rüdiger or even Fofana for the second spot is up for debate, but I think you could make the case for any of them.
