Actually Nostradamus
Can you jump into this if you haven't played any of the previous games? Or would you be lost with the story, characters etc?

Each game is completely stand-alone, basically. Can you jump into this if you haven't played any of the previous games? Or would you be lost with the story, characters etc?
After a few months of reflection I think it might be the best JRPG ever. It's that damn good.I'm playing through this game rn, and I just can't find the words to describe how incredible this is, absolutely loving it, better than Horizon imo and PS4's game of the year for me, I never ever imagined it'd be this much fun.
Jrpgs tend to do that. You can't half-arse play them. :PThis damn game is the reason I don't have a PS4 anymore. My girlfriend loves it so much she has commandeered my PlayStation and it now lives at her place.

If it helps, it really is a lot of fun!I would't know...I've not had a chance to play it yet! I was about 100 hours into a Skyrim run when my PlayStation disappeared! From what I could see though (peering over my girlfriend's shoulder) the game looked pretty amazing. I hope I get my PS back soon, I've been looking forward to playing it for a long time...
The main boss battle theme is brilliant!Got this in November and with my backlog just got started on it on Monday, now 30+ hours in and just did Matarame's Palace, its fantastic and the music is top stuff too.
Just picked this up on a whim and dived into it completely blind not having played a Persona game before.
Holy maracas it’s feckin amazing. How have I not played this earlier?!. So far it’s shitting over GOW, RDR2 or any other big game I’ve played in the last year or two.
It's JRPG perfection.
I keep meaning to give it another playthrough in NG+ but I find it hard to commit to 100 hour games these days, second time round at least.
Yeah I'll probably get it in the new year, even though I think it should be a DLC and not a fully paid for game, but whatever, it's still 100+ hours long. Supposedly they've improved the early pacing of the game which was its biggest flaws for me.I'm tempted to get Persona 5 Royal now even though I've fully completed the original. Good excuse to get back into playing it since it's been a while!
Yeah I've heard that the main game has been changed a bit anyway so at least it'll be a bit of a new experience. I'll probably get it around the same time, far too many games in my backlog to even think about starting a new 100+ hour game.Yeah I'll probably get it in the new year, even though I think it should be a DLC and not a fully paid for game, but whatever, it's still 100+ hours long. Just start all over again, you know you want to.I didn't manage to finish this. Enjoyed it a lot, but when I had to do yet another dungeon (the floating castle or boat or smth?) I suddenly couldn't take it anymore and gave up. Think I was almost at the end too, but now it's been too long to go back.
It’s more a remaster, than a DLC, no?Yeah I'll probably get it in the new year, even though I think it should be a DLC and not a fully paid for game, but whatever, it's still 100+ hours long. Supposedly they've improved the early pacing of the game which was its biggest flaws for me.
The musical score in the game is brilliant. This song is by far the best, in my opinion:Clicked on the thread and now I have the campy theme song playing in my head
A great game. Wish I could have Managed my in game time a bit better to get closer to the platinum.
Nah, the new Pokemon is coming out in a few days I read yesterday.Just start all over again, you know you want to.
How long did you play it for? The first 20 hours are indeed slow and dialogue heavy but after the second palace it gets much better. This game bored the hell out me. Endless dialogue and little gameplay
Screen Rant said:Is Persona 5 Royal enough to justify purchasing a game fans have already played? Yes. The amount of change brought to the title is significant, and it all feels like a marked improvement. For a game that was already one of the best JRPGs in recent years, Persona 5 Royal is a follow-up that cements itself as an experience well-worth repeating in lieu of a proper Persona sequel.
Persona 5 revalidates its crown with the Royal edition. Almost 40 hours of new content, changes to the entire game, new plot, new semester and new characters. A true masterpiece.
It's definitely not for everyone. This game bored the hell out me. Endless dialogue and little gameplay

And the things is, it really isn't limited to the first 10-20 hours. You get locked into plenty more long stretches of little to no agency. There's a hopeless amount of exposition and dialogue repetition. I've never understood why this was rated so highly, the pacing and writing are poor in my opinion. For me that's not the really the sign of the good game. The whole it gets better after 20 hours is really just a sign of how flawed the game is.
