Yep. They dropped their successful policy of buying up mid-range players in bulk and seeing who cuts the mustard, in favour of statement signings in the form of Grealish, Haaland. Basically they've gone down the PR route, which is essentially their entire existence.

You can tell he's feeling pressure cos he tends to overdo things especially his interviews and his praise which doesn't come of as authentic. Having a team meeting on the pitch, talking about not having players to compete with Leipzig's transitions, not making subs (their squad might be weaker but they still have options a lot of teams would gladly take), talking like they are some underdog.

I reckon they win the second leg easily but seems pep is feeling some pressure that he might not win either cl or prem league

For a team I love to see lose, it’s staggering how so often I simply don’t bother watching them because they’re that dull. They’re just not enjoyable to watch, do neutrals find them entertaining?

Just saw his post-match press conference. He‘s so fecking tetchy and sarcastic these days.

I also find Peps football boring.

Always have done. It bores the opposition into making a mistake with endless sideways passes. Then prevents any counter attack with tactical fouls.

At its best it can be effective. But so boring even when it works well.

Beginning of the end for Pep. He looks bored, his team look uninspired. Regardless of what happens with the investigation he probably won't stay beyond his contract unless something changes.

Same for me. Incredibly dull football.

His comments

"The Champions League is so demanding now, before it was quite easy"... when I had Messi in my team

I don't think it's dull (or as dull as LVG's). Just becoming too robotic, because Pep can't attract top class flair attackers, he substitutes them with effective disciplined players. What worse is Pep either played with no true CF for possession control, or he played midfielder like players on the wing when Haaland up top. That team still has goals in them, and still pins opposition back, but its feel like they try to do text book goal.

The only time I’ll watch City is when they plus us or one of the top 4. They’re shite to watch, and everyone is insufferable. I think one of the reasons City fans are so quick to turn their back on football is because they’re just not enjoyable to watch most of the time. Square passes until someone gets bored enough to switch off and let them score.

It feels like they've lost their way and started to compromise in the way Barca began to, signing big name players just because they could rather than players that fit the system - which is what they did so well in the early days under Pep.

Grealish was a good example of this, but now even Haaland despite his incredible stats you have to wonder if it's the right club for him (or certainly at least, if Pep is the right manager for him)

I do wonder if this is building towards Pep dropping Haaland as a guaranteed starter, as ludicrous as that sounds.

He has previous with Zlatan and Aguero, possibly Lewandowksi too?

I might be biased cause I'm a big fan of his but he's right. Leipzig are a good club. If you do not kill the game, they will come back at you.

It’s the way he says it.

”What do you expect, a friendly game?” Nope, no-one said that.

”How many games have you (seen) from Leipzig?” Classy, Pep, classy.

”So people expect we’re going to win 0-5?” Again, no-one said that.

I just think his constant sarky, childish & condescending behaviour is boring and so predictable.

Why not say ”Leipzig are a good club. If you do not kill the game, they will come back at you.”?

They have a very good set of players, but they really play a boring brand of football.

I don't understand why with Haaland upfront they arent trying to get him in behind constantly.

I think the last time they were good to watch was when they had Sterling and Sane on the wings. Was that 17/18? They've become very robotic since then.

It’s been very noticeable since the cheating allegations came out.

I honestly think he feels like all his achievements have now been undermined because everyone just sees them as cheats. He’s getting very irritated with simple questions. He’s probably wondering whether it was worth even spending all these years at city when it’s always going to be regarded as an era of cheating.

Well, he's the one who chose to work under those conditions; and if it turns out that it really has been as systematic and common as the charges suggest, there's no way he wouldn't have known about it. Hundreds of breaches over the course of a decade isn't something a manager can be oblivious to, even if he wasn't personally responsible for them, so he will have been fully aware of it and opted to continue reaping the rewards of all that cheating. He made his own bed.

I definitely think he's feeling the heat. This isn't just about City; his time at Barcelona is also in question now with these allegations of bribing referees. Add to this the strong whiff of PEDs that has followed him since his playing days and it's starting to seem like his whole career has been one long series of dirty dealings. I reckon he's worried not just about his accomplishments at City but about his entire legacy. His name is fast becoming associated with cheating and corruption.

I have only watched a Guardiola team live on one occasion. That was pre-season 2011 in Washington. We won 2-1 (Nani and Owen). The crowd was calling "Boring, Boring Barca!" - and for good reason!

(I should add that Messi was not touring with the team!)

Yeap, same in his interview with BT.

I hope City implode, surprised how salty he has been this season.
Same attitude when he said he didnt care about the Premier League and the Carabao cup, during the press conference after we beat them.
Even having a pop at Steven Gerrard, years after the guy has retired.

Pep built his Man City empire on sand, and he rightly knows that his achievements there will be erased or forgotten if City is punished for their blatant cheating. He wants to be seen as a great, not as the beneficiary of limitless dirty money, so he gets tetchy.

Couldn’t resist having a pop at us and out spending after the final victory. He’s bitter as feck and cracking up.

Can’t believe I ever wanted this pathetic smalltime weasel to be our manager.

Insecure twat who has has built his City ‘legacy’ through cheating the rest of the league.

His meltdown after losing the title to his apprentice who he gifted players will be highly amusing

The ultimate hubris. It would be like Fergie loaning his son Darren some of our players and then Peterbrough go and beat Man Utd in the cup final. I’m a bit drunk but it does feel like that.

It’s also funny because, by very virtue of selling Arsenal those two players last summer, he was basically saying he didn’t think Arsenal were even theoretically good enough to supplant City, which is quite a lack of confidence in his protege.

It's looking even worse with all the Barca related stuff coming out recently.

At this rate his only legitimate achievements might be at bayern and well the less said about their worth the better.
