Television Peep Show

Watched the whole series for the first time recently and I loved it. Even when it's at its worst it's still really funny and I thought the ending was actually pretty good. Hope they do another series at some point in the future. Best episode was Wedding, worse episode was the one where they get stuck in that girl's flat.

I really hope they do a tenth season.

 there's just too many moments that are absolute gold. Their comedic timing is bang on to the point where, even if the writing is poor (which is rare) they still make it funny.

In 2025 Mark wouldn't be able to afford a South London apartment while supporting Jeremy and a baby.

(I assume he doesn't own the apartment)

That’s pretty good

I rewatched it all a while ago and it’s still incredible

“I just feel… I dunno… unfulfilled”
“Unfilled????”

Honestly the best fecking line ever.

An amazing line - but you could pull about 20 similar examples out and say the same thing about it. For me it's easily one of the funniest shows ever made.

I think he does? Jeremy never pays rent and gets booted out for the Australian/is living in Super Hans’ bathroom start of S9.

I remember being at school and watched the last episode of season 3 on channel 4 when it aired, cos my mate’s cool older brother told us to watch it.

It’s mad how each new series came out between Year 10 (series 3) and the last being when I was 27, living with mates in London. Absolutely unparalleled comedy, my generation’s Only Fools and Horses.

Also I reckon the last series is up there as one of the bests, having gotten a bit worse (relative to its earlier bangers) in 6, 7 and 8.

Insanely quotable show.

I assume Mark pays the rent. I suppose Mark could have inherited the money or just saved up but his job hardly seems like one that pay massively. He's able to boot Jezza out because he pays nothing.

It's one of those shows I've never got round to watching much.

I love David Mitchell on panel shows, and largely watched the recent Ludwig tv series because of him. Yet for some reason I've thought of watching this a few times but never seem to get through a full episode.

Despite my love of Seinfeld, I'm not generally fond of awkward humour and prefer warm humour instead. And generally prefer sitcoms without swearing. This is one of those shows, like Curb Your Enthusiasm, that I often feel like watching, and think I should like - but then struggle to enjoy when I give it a go and quickly give up.

Try again! Like most of the great sitcoms it gets increasingly better.

You have to watch it. It's a part of Scandi Red's Holy Sitcom Trinity!

What are the other 2?

I watch peep show on repeat all year round. Follow the instagram pages for the memes. Me and my wife give kitchen tongues and firecrackers for Xmas every year. We have Peep Show Guess who. I’m basically a super fan.

I even have a picture of Johnson looking disgusted opposite the toilet in our bathroom.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Malcolm in the Middle
Haha these have been part of my rotation. I’ve not got a trinity but I have several I go through.

Peep Show
Inbetweeners
Friday Night Dinner

Probably the main three

Then there’s:

Simpsons
Always Sunny
Malcolm in the Middle
IT Crowd

I think if it was on Netflix or something Everybody Loves Raymond would make it too.

Community used to be on it but it doesn’t do it for me anymore.

I recently finished US Office, which could also make another rewatch.

Also currently on a rewatch. The wedding episode is incredible.

I've watched quite a lot of those, but they're mostly all ones that while I found funny enough / watchable on the first viewing, I enjoyed less and less with each subsequent watch.

I've pretty much found that with most 21st century sitcoms to be honest. They rarely still appeal to me after a few watches. The ones I still find hilarious after many a re-watch are the likes of Cheers, Frasier and Seinfeld from the US, and even older UK sitcoms like Fawlty Towers, Porridge, Fools & Horses...

A lot of the other shows work for a while but I soon find the episodes (and often focus on cringe comedy) more grating and annoying rather than hilarious upon re-watches.

I don't know what these couple of lines mean (last episode of the show), in particular it's the "pull off" I'm struggling with:

"Mark, will you pull me off?"
"I’m not about to pull you off, Jeremy. And, if you think about it, I’m sure you don’t really want me to."
"Sure, whatever. I just thought it might be comforting."

Wank me off.
