Television Peep Show

Which series was it when Mark fell in love with Johnson?

Those were the glory days of Peep Show IMO.
Season one I think, that's the episode when you first hear about "the business secrets of the Pharaohs" and when Jez' wondering what 'the bad thing' is.

Ed: That might just be the best episode they've ever made. I almost shit myself when Jez realizes what he has done at the end.

I was sure it was later than series 1. I thought 3 or 4. But you could well be right.

Oh and yes, that episode with Jez wondering what he and Super Hans got up to is brilliant.

love that episode

Mark: It just feels a bit weird, Dad [shit!]
Johnson: What was that?
Mark: It just feels a bit weird, Daddy-O [good save]

I liked the velvet spoon
'British London' was quite funny too. It does sound quite real til Jez said something.

First episode had me in stitches, second episode was good too.

Great to have Peep Show back.

Just watched the first two episodes of the latest series. It's probably the only show on tv that actually makes me laugh, not just think "that's funny" or smile or go "haha".

At least Mark and Jez seem to be back in character, and Superhans is back on the whizz. Probably the best one of the series yet, but still below par.

Loved the latest one to be honest.

I'm bored of the whole life coaching thing already. Jez fancying Dobby is funny though. And Super Hans' idea for finding the perfect partner  Ballet shoes, cd and.....speed.

Funny last episode, its going to be a long wait till the next series.

It's finished already? After like 5 episodes or something?

I've decided I really, really fancy Dobby, their is just something about those crazy features that just works, like a Picasso or something.

Just caught up with the last two episodes. The final one had me in stitches  Bit gutted that's the end of the series already though, wish they were a few episodes longer.

Also, totally agree with the above poster about fancying Dobby. It was when she was waiting by the car in the last episode that it clicked I think I fancy her.

Anyone know when the next series is due?

gutted for Jez, one of the papers used the headline "3-O Walcott" today, so his plan to sell that headline for millions on Theo's 30th birthday fell through

I think that Peep Show lost the dynamics you got out of that whole set up with Sophie, Jeff and Johnson at JLB. Plus the frequent use of Super Hans, Nancy, Toni and Tony and to en extent the early Dobby/Gerard situation.

Super Hans is still quite central to the general plot, but the writers haven't manage to replace the guys mentioned above properly I think. I reckon the water shed of Peep Show was the awesome car crash of a wedding. It's still mostly funny but it's lacking the greatness of the first 4 seasons.

Yeah, I don't think they really thought through the whole getting rid of JLB thing. It seem's to have been a rash decision. As much as anything they've really struggled to include Johnson since then, he's been virtually non-existant in the past 2 seasons and he's far too good a character to just be used for a cameo appearance as he was this season.

I'd like to see something like Johnson as owner of a company employing Mark and Jeff next season (not to irrational given Johnson always selected them for things) to at least get some of that dynamic back. There's been some good moments watching Mark struggles with employment after JLB, but a 4th season of it would be too much.

Still after a mixed first half of the season, the last 3 episodes were strong I thought. The Big Mad Andy episode in particular, also a nice call back to one of the series best episodes from the Shroom Party in series 3.

No Johnson, bar a fleeting appearance in the first episode means this series is probably the worst yet.

Agree with this, the Johnson company idea sounds pretty neat, like they tried with the consultio/consultius thing or whatever he decided to call it, and Mark ended up pissing in the salsa in the Mexican restaurant instead.

I also forgot to mention Big Suze, she was great as well.

I think this season was the best of the last 3 though, bringing back Andy was a nice touch. I just watched the original episode with him when he goes mental and kicks their bathroom door to pieces after Jez orders him to finish the thing.

Personally I think that Mark has become too normal in the last couple of series. If you watch the early series he was a definitely a more desperate character and a lot of the best moments came from that. Although I like Dobby as a character, I think that if Mark is single again in the next series it would be better for the program as a whole. I also thought that him having a baby was a poor move, it legitimised him, it is interesting that they wrote the baby out of the series this time round, perhaps the writers felt the same.

Might go through all this again, now...

Agreed that it's the only program I've watched in recent times that has made me laugh as opposed to just thinking 'that's funny'. Can't remember what season it was, but the episode with Mark and Jez going round to meet Sophie's parents (with Jez sleeping with her mum and the two of them going with the dad to burn the barn down) was genuinely hilarious. That rant at Jez after he finds out what he's done had me giggling like a school girl.

One of my favourite episodes

When's season 9?

The face he pulls cracks me up every time.

I feel this show has gone on a few seasons too many. Still love it though. The last few seasons needed more Alan Johnson.

They probably weren't up to the standards of earlier seasons, but they were still better than almost anything else out there.

Not like most shows that go to real shit and only get by on name alone, with all the characters becoming basically caricatures.

They should be showing another series soon shouldn't they? Surely it will be the very last.

Yeah they said it would be, no idea when it's coming out but I'm looking forward to it.
