Yes please! Someone start a hype thread. Maybe some journos will pick up on it and start inventing stories. They then ask Van Gaal about it in a press conference and he goes "no comment" but doesn't really know who he is. Louis is left intrigued and goes home to watch a youtube compilation, proceeds to call up Woodward who faxes a £56m bid.

And that's the story of how the Caf signed Griezmann.
please god yes!

I don't think many seen this coming this morning. He would have been an absoulute bargain for that price. Anyone that thinks we wouldnt pay that money to Barca is mental, there is more to this. The part that annoys me about this saga is everyone was sure and it dragged. LVG should have ruled this transfer out when asked about it before Brugge. Instead we have been slammed with our trousers down, legs outstreched and forehead touching the wall for all the world to see. This is a real coup for Chelsea, even if it's a bit of a panic buy because of there woeful start. Woody better have something pretty fecking incredible lined up after this. It's dissapionting news but I hope we make up for it. The twitter feed in the caf has been like a morgue since our double signing. Come on Woody pull your finger out and sort it out, you can do it

ESPN reporting their sources claim our business for the summer may be over :nono: :(

Would be crazy to not add more before the window closes.

Why are there so many drama queens? Get a grip and stop acting like spoilt kids in the Toys'r'us store

Im not sure about that as I honestly think the media knows sweet eff all about our transfers.

They did not see us getting darmaian until italitan media said this is done and did not call us getting Schinderlin at all.

At the end of the day the management has to make it work out rather than hope. Regarding Pedro as one individual case I agree. But overall if we go into the season with just Memphis as the single addition to our attack then it will indeed be a failure on the club's part, and most likely will prove decisive during the season itself.

Let's just wait till the end of the transfer window and then we'll know if there is a serious cause for concern or not. So far, it doesn't look that good tbh.

Vaan Gaal said we were looking at a couple more signings after the tour started, and a couple of weeks ago spoke about what we lack compared to Barca/Chelsea etc. Now we suddenly we're not signing anyone. Wonderful.

So basically the same forward line bar Memphis that finished 4th and scored a considerably low amount of goals. How can people be happy with that?
With an improved midfield, terrific full backs, Chicha showing signs of his former-self, I do not mind the players that I mentioned to be played instead of Pedro.

Is Griezmann really a United fan?????? Get in there Woody!

Well this is disappointing given he was highlighted by Van Gaal as the sort of player we needed.

Wonder what the plan is now. As is we don't look like a title winning side, it would be a shame if we finished the window in the same shape.

Seriously I thought it would be even worse. There are some sensible posts too.
I wanted Pedro and this ruined my day but I tend to not to overreact and be quick to blame the club. Some couldnt wait for it.

Great purchase for Chelsea. I m a bit worried about us losing out on him because we still need more pace and/or creativity in our team. However, like I stated before, we are still in good shape without him as our attacking forward/midfield is not as problematic as our striking problem.

Mata/Januzaj - Fellaini/Peirera - Depay/Young
Improvement
We can still manage if we lose out on Pedro, and in the process help the development of our youngsters. Can not believe I want to see Fellaini in our number ten role ahead of Mata. Maybe this is more to do with the lack of quality wide players.

Pace:creativity/Januzaj - Mata/Fellaini - Depay/Young

I can't believe that our business is over? LVG wants more pace and the last 3 games have done nothing to show that actually we may be OK pace wise.

And then what? The player's desire to play for us vanished for no reason? You talk as if we approach other teams even if the player is unsure of us. I don't know what caused us to refuse to buy him, if that is the case which is being rumored.
Players wouldn't outright refuse us even if they prefer another club. That would be a strange way of going about your transfers. It would be a fairly long process where you listen to all parties concern over a period of discussion and deliberation. It's entirely possible that he thought we were an attractive option but Chelsea were more so.

Being a fan of the club means naff all if that club don't come after you.

Grizemann I'm sure would jump at the chance and if we went in for him I'm sure he'd try to make a move happen in the most professional way possible! But there's nothing to suggest the club are actually after him.

Then your point that his desire to play for us was so strong that we low-balled Barca is not valid. Look at it this way, do you see DDG going anywhere apart from Madrid irrespective of other clubs' interest? I would say not. I doubt Pedro would have ever shown that kind of commitment to play for us. Moreover the rumors are that we are no longer interested which is bizarre on a lot of levels.

they should be though. He is a great talent who would be even better at the club he loves. And he is exactly what we need.

Assuming the reports of us negotiating with Barca and having a provisional deal agreed with Pedro are true (and we have absolutely no reason not to).....

There are two possibilities. 1) Chelsea just beat us to a signing we wanted, which we'll never admit to or 2) we wasted a lot of time pursuing a deal with someone we ended up not wanting.

Neither is good, especially if we fail to strengthen further over the next few weeks. We'll have to wait and see what happens but this is definitely a big negative right now.

If we don't make a marquee signing this window it will be a fecking joke!

We need to pull off a Muller or Bale type deal, for sure.

I didn't say his desire to play for us was strong. I think his desire to play for us was not strong enough.

Am not hugely disappointed but, slightly irritated if we pulled out because of trying to negotiate over a relatively small amount when it comes to United dealings especially when we've overpaid on a lot of our recent purchases. He wasn't the going to be the marquee signing but, certainly would have given us a very good option down the right side in terms of directness, pace and also as another reliable goal scorer.

Ah I made a typo in that post you quoted. We seem to be agreeing.

Sterling is a United fan and he ended up at our two worst rivals.
It would have been impossible to sign him from Liverpool though

If he was at Spurs or Everton we probably would have got him over city if we wanted too

Memphis and Schweini aren't marquee signings?

You guys have easily done the best business thus far out of anyone in the PL. You guys have gone all Real Madrid now and lust after big names.
