Paulo Dybala

It's a bullet dodged because clearly he didn't want to come.

That's why people are comparing him to Di Maria because he also never wanted to come here.

I can guarantee you if we'd thrown daft money at Dybala and he'd have reluctantly joined us, the first blip or first period things weren't going well for him he'd immediately want to leave like Di Maria did.

I'm not happy at all at being stuck with that big lump Lukaku, but we've made the correct choice walking away from Dybala.
If we don't bring anyone else in then we haven't made the correct decision, I'm sorry but we haven't. If I have to see us rely on Lingard, Mata or Sanchez for another fecking season then I'll literally turn into strawberry jam and explode.

I don’t blame him, we’re a shambles, at least I won’t have to watch that fecking atrocious goal celebration.

You're everything that's wrong with the United fanbase
Why is that, cause I questioned how this deal was being handled so late in the window? I'm not disappointed with Dybala not coming, more how the transfers and planning of them have been handled this summer.

I nearly take what you said as a compliment considering how many wankers there in the red cafe these days.

Fecking great!!! I get the whole sticking to our guns and not having people here for the wrong reasons, but could have fecking know this weeks ago!

Five fecking days left of the window and it looks like Lukaku won’t end up being replaced! What the hell do we end up with now, another one-step-forward-five-steps-back.

DDG
AWB Lindelof Maguire Shaw
McT Pogba
James Lingard Rashford
Martial

Bold guys surely can’t be relied upon for a top four finish!?! An awful lot of pressure to put on the kids too! This is either going to be a bloody crazy five days or some mass cliff-jumping on the Cafe!!!

No I meant that's probably why his agent said that months ago - to get their attention. Maybe if Barca could sell Coutinho they could go for him.

They would still have Messi, Suarez, Dembele and Griezmann for the front three positions. At a push you could say Madrid but he would have to play rw. But like you said earlier in the window he would have found a suitable club. Like replacing Griezmann at Atletico

Much as I like him and was desperate for him to join us, I can't blame the club for pulling out. Still I will wait for the deadline day if he decides to change his mind and see that it can be greener on the other side...

I see Bruno's name everywhere. I think I'm living under a rock FFS, have never seen him or heard of him before the transfer window. Is he really that talented?
Contributed to 50+ goals last season. That takes some doing. Can he do it in the EPL? We will only know if he plays here.

Nope Stone is reporting on what Ducker said not giving independent confirmation. This could be toast who knows but all that stone has said is that he always had reservations.
So if thats the case, why is everyone going full throttle based on a telegraph exclusive? Surely it got leaked to Ducker who reported it, then the club officially briefed

Addressing 3 weak areas in 1 window isn't a poor window.

James is a safe punt on the wing to tide us over for a year ready for Sancho.

Maguire addresses a problem in centre back and providing arial threats from corners.

Wab Bissaka is a clear upgrade.

We already have enough quality in midfield to get us into top 4 (and I'd guess we pulled the plug on Dybala early to give us time to finalise Bruno) it's a good start of a rebuild for Ole.

Wholesale upgrades was off the cards as soon as Young and Co were given extentions. This is a long term project.
We really don't, barring a meltdown of a season from two of the other "top 6" clubs.

I'm gutted about another season of Lingard, Mata and Sanchez too.

It's going to be another long shite season no doubt.

I still think we've been sensible and smart dropping any interest in Dybala. Bringing in someone who doesn't want to be here, or wasting any more time trying to convince someone to join who has no intention of joining would be stupid.

The most annoying thing for me is that we’d somehow managed to con Juventus into an obviously ludicrous deal, only for it to fall through due to the player. It’s a bit like the fittest girl in school agreeing to have sex with you, but her parents won’t let her out.

Actually it’s sort of the opposite, but you take my point.

This is entirely the right decision. I'm neither for nor against big-money signings on principle - you have to look at everything on a case by case basis. But we've definitely been guilty over the last few seasons of using big wages to tempt star players here who probably weren't all that keen otherwise, and we've all seen the results of that. Getting back into the top four and amongst the title challengers is going to take a lot of graft, and that's got to be a non-negotiable in anyone we sign.

So we still need a top midfielder and a top striker. 4 days to go in the window. Brilliant.

Anyone think he’ll end up at Inter in a swap for Icardi as mooted by Italian press?, leaving us with Lukaku.

Ach, I suppose you're right. But I would rather have Dybala at the team not giving a feck than Sanchez not giving a feck, Mata not giving a feck but saying to the press that "we'll work harder next time" or Lingard running around in circles trying to be that creepy older guy who still hangs around with school kids.

Juventus are much better on the market than Woody and co. Something didn't quite add up from the very beginning.

Good decision, Dybala was reminiscent of too many of the mistakes we have made in recent years, hoping that star quality would provide a short cut back to the top. Focus on ambitious players with upside who want to be here and are over themselves.

If we are looking for a quality striker who doesn't necessarily have to be the star Jimenez at Wolves would be a solid option. Technically capable, can play with his back to goal, aggressive, and would be easy to move on.

Traditionally yeah, but from an objective point of view that deal was bonkers.

That maybe so. He could still come crawling back after his meeting with Sarri though.

The parents are all for it, she’d just prefer to wait until someone less ugly and desperate knocks the door instead.

And why was it handled so late? Because know one has met Lukaku's valuation. You can't sell what no one can afford. Or would you prefer United get bent over and sell Lukaku for just over half what we paid for him 2 years ago?

This 'saga' has lasted what a week? Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. The club have done excellent business this summer and pulling the plug on this is just another example of them finally learning after years of scattergun approach's

Maybe the kids have surprised Ole on tour that he's thinking feck it, we go with them

The way I see it is we have a player that doesn’t want to be at United either way. Lukaku wants out. Dybala presumably never wanted in. If we have pulled out I’m glad we aren’t chucking more money to convince him since that will only lead to more unrest in the squad. If I was a betting man I’d say he’s already talked to his pal and been told not to come. I wonder what this means for Mandzukic. He was going to be Lukaku’s replacement. We might need to lower our asking price from Inter.

There’s so much mischief making in these transfer sagas that unless it’s made official I wouldn’t believe anything. I think there’s a good chance we will still sign him.

That maybe so. He could still come crawling back after his meeting with Sarri though.
The only way it goes through now is if Sarri explicitly tells him tomorrow that his days at Juve are done, and he's not getting into the team. His options would then be go to United or play for the reserves.
There is a small small chance Juve management could pressure him into accepting what United are offering, but it's slim to no chance.

According to some of the Juventuz forum guys have said the Juve president has tweeted that Dybala is staying.

Good. And i like Dybala, hes probably the best player we could get as a replacement for Lukaku, be it as a direct swap or if we sold Lukaku and used all the cash. But i am glad we are not bending over for him, using a massive wage as the most attractive reason to join.
Said it before after hearing his wage demands, if he put in a good first season he will probably get a big bump, shame some of these footballers are initially so greedy. Not like he would starting on peanuts, 150k seems to be the range of United's offer.

Interesting to see where he goes from here, as he is not wanted by Juv and priced himself out of a move elsewhere...
