Manchester United's Paul Pogba bid encouraged by ex-captain Bryan Robson
Former Manchester United captain Bryan Robson says he has no problem with the club breaking the transfer world record to re-sign Paul Pogba from Juventus.
United are on the verge of completing a transfer for the 23-year-old that could cost them in excess of £100m.
"If you are making money and have to pay big money for the best players, why not do it?" Robson told BBC Radio 5 live's Sportsweek programme.
Manager Jose Mourinho wants the deal to be completed before 14 August.
No deal has been announced for Pogba, who has been on holiday in the United States since losing the Euro 2016 final with France against Portugal last month.
Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri has said he expects the midfielder to be at training on Monday, although reports in Italy say Pogba has flown to the UK for a medical.
Manchester United have not responded to these reports.
Pogba played at United for three years before rejecting a new contract andjoining Juventus for a £1.5m compensation fee in 2012.
He won the Serie A title in four successive seasons in Italy and has established himself as one of the most highly rated players in the world.
"Sir Alex Ferguson allowed me to watch training as Pogba joined the first team squad [as a teenager]," said Robson.
"I was very impressed with him. He was a good build, with a good temperament.
"He is the type of player we need.
"He is similar to Yaya Toure in the sense he is very good going forward and can score spectacular goals.
"I am not sure he is a great defender but he does an adequate job."
The last threadmark in this thread was from more than a week ago but I see "new stories" about Pogba every day in the press. So what's the latest reliable update (without me having to go through an endless amount of pages) on his tranfer?
LOL
Seriously, huge respect for those italianfootball TV guys. They are clickbaiting the shit out of this pogba saga to hype their brand. Yet are sane enough to still admit the obvious.

He works for the club now doesn't he?Robbo says he will be a good signing and we should get him:

Global Ambassador or something like that I think. He works for the club now doesn't he?
Yep,saw that too. What I find more interesting than Robson's comments is the fact the BBC say we're on the verge of signing him.
He was on his way to the airport (according to those YouTubers who got video footage with him) 15 hours ago. I think he's probably in France now.Hes probably still on the flight back to France first so he isnt even in england yet calm down people. Also Juventus are playing west ham today in london right? So even if he is in london... nothing is guaranteed. Im convinced its done and itll be announced today or tomorrow but just need patience.
Yeah he's a Club Ambassador it's his job to promote the club and paint it in a good light. He works for the club now doesn't he?
Yeah but does it mean they were going there right that minute, or in a few hours? And obviously he isnt like most people but most people check in a few hours in advance. So for like a 7 hour flight, if he got there with a few hours to spare (again assuming professional footballers dont show up and fly right away) and left for the airport an hour after he saw those 2.... he would have only recently landed in france where he is doing whatever family thing he needed. Might even spend most of the day there and then go to england later tonight. He was on his way to the airport (according to those YouTubers who got video footage with him) 15 hours ago. people flying private jets do.(again assuming professional footballers dont show up and fly right away)

Just how exactly do you come to that conclusion? Why would anyone care if it reaches 1000 pages anyway? Seeing that this is looking likely like it's going to be another week of no answers, it will probably reach even further than that.
Allegri says he's joining up with Juve for training. Why are we excited about flights? Genuine question as I've been sleeping.
And as many have said before, Allegri wasn't going to say anything other than that. Most people knew exactly what he'd say before the press conference had even started.Allegri says he's joining up with Juve for training. Why are we excited about flights? Genuine question as I've been sleeping.
Because it's what every manager says until a transfer is confirmed. See di maria and van gaalAllegri says he's joining up with Juve for training. Why are we excited about flights? Genuine question as I've been sleeping.

There was a private flight that was tracked originating from NYC which went past London and Turin and headed to Rome. Then circled a few times before eventually landing at Rome(?). Now no one knows where Pogba is in all this.
Well people were tracking a flight from NY to what they thought was headed to France. The plane must have gone a different route, heading towards Italy. Guys on here started panic as it looked to be heading to Turin. The plane, then passed Turin and ended up landing in Rome. So these guys appear to have been tracking some random fellas private ket flight from NY to Rome in the end.

I would genuinely be shocked if we got some good news today. Fully expect him to rock up at juve training tomorrow. Hope he doesn't though. Anyway, we are actually playing today so i'm not wasting my day in this thread.
If the game's shite it'll be draw you back in.
They travel around the world on a Jolly meeting club sponsors and schmoozing with them. Meeting fans and turning up for Man Utd Foundation Charity events. I think when Andy Cole got sick it was on a Man Utd Ambassador Event. When you actually think about what the job is, it is absolutely crazy, like how can I get that job, they are on good money too just for occasionally tweeting something like good goal.
So those "Italian Football TV" guys, the ones with that clickbaited the "pogba said yes" video. They tracked pogba down in NYC again and disproved this whole newspaper groupthink that pogba had flown to Manchester overnight.
Furthermore they supposedly talked to some of pogba's people and they were told that Pogba was heading from NYC to france to meet family members and then flying into england.
These guys are now convinced he's going to MUFC after meeting him and his group for a second time.
David Amoyal actually went on to praise them on twitter for their work. Basically these two blokes just embarrassed two different sets of media outlets in Italy and england and they seem to fecking know more than anyone
But Juve are in England, right? If a deal was reached to the point where he was coming to sign, Allegri would look really silly saying he's returning to training :/
Wow, I also drive a Volkswagon Polo, eat at Nandos, and dislike nightclubs. Unfortunately I'm shit at football.Read this last night and thought I'd post it. It gives a bit of insight into Pogbas personality and goes some way to explaining the celebrations and dabbing.
