Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

For all the muppets i've checked flightradar and there have been no private jets into Manchester from the states since last night. The helicopter didn't take the route shown in this thread but appeared to go South and land in Turnmoss playing fields. After that it may have gone to Carrington.

Interestingly the Leicester City helipcopter flew into Farnborough this morning then boarded a private jet to Manchester. Possibly could be them in the helicopter.

Jeez, are you some kind of flightradar guru? How do you find out all that stuff? (Or is this all just bull?)

I've been away during the day and it seems like something has happened.
Could anyone fill me in so I don't have to go through all 30+ pages?
Incorrect I'm afraid, nothing has happened just lots more muppetry.

Assuming we do sign him, will be interesting how quickly we bring him into the first 11. LVG would've waited for 'match rhythm' but I don't see Jose doing that.

Also, I wonder how long before we switch to 4-3-3. I'm certain it will happen some point before x-mas.
You can't spend £100m on a player and not have a plan in place for him to walk into your team straight away. If he's coming and it's sorted then Jose knows and knows exactly how/where he's going to play. Of course he needs training time with the team and to get his fitness back up after a holiday, so not gonna be there for Sunday (god only knows if it'll even be confirmed by then) but you'd think we'd see him before long, even if it wasn't a full 90 mins at first.

This is the credibility list a norwegian transfer site use on English newspapers/sources:

1 The Times, 2 BBC, 3 The Independent, 4 Daily Telegraph, 5 The Guardian, 6 Sky Sports , 7 Daily Mail, 8 Talksport, 9 Daily Mirror, 10 The Sun, 11 Daily Express, 12 Daily Star
BBC are unquestionably more reliable than the Times

Would be an insanely stupid move by the Telegraph to stick their neck out by claiming that it's getting announced today if there's no truth to it. No need for them to risk looking daft for a claim like that - and we all know he's coming sooner or later already. I think he's announced later.

Where have they said this?

What like all the other's who have said similar? Papers / Journo's don't care about integrity anymore, it's about being able to say "we broke the news first".

Pogba won't happen until Monday IMO.

Is it though? I don't think the Telegraph's credibility will hinge on whether or not they are 100% accurate on the Paul Pogba signing date. However, I'm sure they've already benefited from throwing out that entirely plausible speculation. It's transfer business, inaccuracy and half-truths are part of the game.

FWIW I agree that today's the Pogday!

Di Marzio's 48 hrs were misinterpreted. He never claimed that it was being announced in 48 hrs - just that it was done in 48 hrs. And besides Marca/AS, maybe the Sun and maybe a few other extremely unreliable outlets, I don't think any paper has actually made any claims about when it's going to be announced. And as shit as the Telegraph might be, it's far more reputable than the other papers I mentioned.

I think it's getting announced today, but on the other hand it wouldn't exactly surprise me if it isn't.

I think the deal is already "DONE" but we won't announce it until Pogba is in the country, able to show him off with the shirt etc. It's a world record fee, they want it to be a big grand show.

Didn't Sky Sports say he's due in Manchester on Saturday and the deal is expected to be announced Monday?

Again, there was plenty of that in previous ones. Not much wrong with it in my book, I think some people are a bit precious about the caf... which is ultimately just a load of idiots chatting breeze.

Yeah, sure - but what are you going to say?

"I'm not really all that offended by the breeze chatting, I'm just slightly bored and have nothing better to do but comment on said breeze chatting."

Wouldn't look good. So, we pretend we're a bit bothered by it - and the "discussion" drags on.

Did they?
Yup. The slap head with the gigantic Ipad said, ''We understand he will fly to Manchester on Saturday, and we have a source who claims he could be unveiled on Monday..with plenty of time to spare before the first league game.''

The appropriate fate of this thread, regardless of what happens, and regardless of how big it gets, is that it does not end up in the classics. It clearly doesn't deserve it. It's the thread equivalent of...I don't know. But something vast, mildly annoying, artificial in every sense, and basically just shite.

U2 – it's the thread equivalent of U2.
Yeah. Comparing it to Thiago thread is like comparing U2 to Rolling Stones or smth.

Apart from Vast, it's Man City!

Too true. It's a beautiful thing.

Yeah. Comparing it to Thiago thread is like comparing U2 to Rolling Stones or smth.

What you could say, is that the Thiago or Vidal threads at least had one thing going for them: We didn't sign those players - so all those muppet hopes, whether genuine or feigned, were crushed in the end. Which gives the thing a bit of flavour - as a classic thread, I mean.

This looks like a bloated piece of non-edgy shit in comparison. We're clearly signing Pogba - the whole thing is just an exercise in thread expansion for the sake of it, people celebrating their own "muppetry", which isn't really muppetry either. The main muppets aren't really in doubt - there's no sense of danger here.

So, even if the unthinkable happens and he doesn't sign - it won't save the thread. Because there's never been any genuine doubt and despair in the thread itself. It's a plastic thread. The City comparison above is apt.

There is always an ongoing undercurrent of doubt about this signing in this thread!

Indeed.
I've been "fooled" many times before.
The saying goes, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."
So, this time around, I am going to be very careful of who/what I believe.

Di Mazio saying he will sign last week.
Telegraph saying he will sign today.
I believe none of it.
Only BBC are absolute 100% reliable and they haven't mentioned anything major regarding Pogba...just that we have a passing interest in him, but nothing certain.
When Jose was in talks with MUFC back in January, I think it was, BBC reported this. 5 months later, he signed for us.

So I will wait for confirmation from either Riaola, Pogba, MUFC, Juve or BBC.

Why is he in the US for so long if he is joining United though? All France internationals who were involved at Euro and are PL players have been back for a while. Having him for Leicester game is obviously not a huge deal but it'd be good if he was available for 2nd/3rd game of season which might not be the case if he takes another week or two in USA enjoying his holidays.

No they haven't. Evra and Griezmann are still on hols, for instance.

Isn't he leaving the US in two days? Or did I miss some of the latest developments?

This feels like such a weird transfer, it feels too obvious that it's happening which probably plays a part in people getting nervous about Madrid etc..

for the record I have a feeling it's going to be an interesting evening for news tonight...
Which means nothing will happen

The biggest positive sign in this saga is IMO the fact that Juventus have already spent Pogba money. Quite suggestive.
