Paul Pogba / turned down United offer of 300k as “nothing”

Evra stating Pogba does not feel loved by United or its supporters.

The guy constantly keeps telling us he is leaving over and over and given how he left before, he has no love for the club.

His top performances are 3 shows out of 50 a season on average and he is a liability defensively.

Ronaldo scores goals and is feared by, many, Pogba is used as a weakness by other teams to exploit.

We need solid consistent players in midfield.

SAF used to say that most people don’t recognise that being hard working is a talent. And that statement holds true today. When the conversation veers towards talented players - or in this case “hugely talented” - it inevitably focuses on players of high technical ability. But if one ever reframes the perception of what “talented” really means and gives equal weighting compared to technical ability, to attributes such as mental fitness, consistent application, and hard work; then Pobga really doesn’t fit the description of being “hugely talented” anymore. Instead he becomes viewed as what he actually is: a mediocre player in terms of real world effectiveness, who possesses some eye catching technical qualities that sporadically result in an impressive highlights reel.

Holding onto this notion that he is a superb talent is what has prevented a ruthless analysis of his performances and perpetuated his central role in the team under successive managers. It’s what led to his signing in the first place.

Consider the excessive weighting given to his relative mastery of some advanced skills - long range passing, vision, flair moves - and then contextualise them alongside his lack of proficiency in the more fundamental attributes of his position - tackling, bravery, work rate, decision making, short range passing, positioning, and teamwork - the basics for a midfielder, and you have to ask yourself ‘hugely talented at what exactly?’

Whenever I think of it in these terms, I not only come to the conclusion that he’d be my 5th choice midfielder at the club, but that the honest assessment of him is that he’s just not very good. Once I grasped that, I wondered why on earth I held on so long waiting for him to “come good”; and it’s because all the things he’s good at, are the things that are most rare and coveted in a player. But that desire assumes all the key fundamentals are in place and those skills are his differentiator. Not with Pogba.

He’s the emerald city built on quick sand. All gravy and no meat. The icing without the cake. A CGI blockbuster with no storyline. If he was a movie he’d be Prometheus; amazing trailer, damp squib of a film. If he was a porn star, he’d have the biggest dick on set, but no balls to give him an erection.

He’s so deeply, fundamentally flawed for the professional role he was acquired for, that he should be analytically viewed as perhaps the worst signing in our history.

tl;dr: He's rubbish
APPLAUSE

Sell him in January and loan in players from China or the United States to play CM. Sell Pogba for 20 million pounds. I would sell Pogba in January and use Sancho in Central midfield for the time being. Our team is very strong so we can do that. Pogba doesn't have discipline to play cm defensively yet has the physique that other players don't.
Who is going to pay for him, when they can have him for nothing in the summer?

Great post, what were you smoking when you wrote it?

Hopefully we take the option of getting some money for him in jan, and not just losing him on a free

that’s assuming there’s teams that want the bluffer

Misread this, thought you were suggesting we get paid for him in jam. Was considering it.

Strip away everything about the fee we paid, his performances with France, the perception of him in the game/his marketability etc. and there aren't really any reasons to give him a long term contract into his 30s on £20m a season, or whatever it would be. He doesn't justify it with his performances and offering a centre mid a deal like that when you don't trust him to play midfield against anyone half decent is the very definition of stupidity. The problem is, the cost of replacing him would be huge and I can't see any great appetite from the club to do it, unless he forces that by moving elsewhere on a free. Personally, I think he can do us a real favour by moving on. Otherwise we'll sleepwalk into getting ourselves stuck in this unhappy marriage for another 4 years and I don't think that will suit anyone.

Funnily enough that will take him through to January
He's only played 207 out of 311 games since joining United in 2016. That means he's been injured or benched for 33.4% of all our fixtures.

This new injury will mean he's out for another 13 games on top of that. So the above percentage will go up 36.1% by the time he comes back.

To add to his underwhelming performances on the pitch, the guy's also been incredibly injury prone. Considering the world record fee, this transfer has been a disaster.

Wow I didn’t know that. Certainly adds to the list of negatives. I just don’t see enough from him to justify the sort of contract he’d get. It’s about time we stuck up against blood suckers. They have to be seen to be working and earning their salary

Wow. Fortunately Sancho will be playing wingback

Can we add world record disaster unless Mbeppe leaves PSG for free?

Will be glad to see the back of him as it just hasn’t worked out. Too much of a gamble to try hang on to him as the wages it would take would be a huge risk considering what you will most likely get in return.

but think of it this way...no more Pogba, a new manger who sees McTominay for exactly what he is - a fine deputy; retires Matic; sells Fred; Brings in a CDM specialist; bloods Hannibal and we see the best of VDB as an 8....the future could really be something...

Who am I kidding...we are giving him €400k a week aren’t we!!!??

Yeah the reason is you don't want to play under Ole anymore, Paul

I'll keep saying this over and over - any player that runs their contract down to the last year and refuses a new contract should not be played at all. I don't care who the player is.

We're only benefitting the player's next club and delaying ourselves focusing on the future.
If they are genuinely world class, you can stomach it but anyone else, especially someone as inconsistent as Pogba, should be benched indefinitely.

Pogba was probably going to leave with or without Ole, but hopefully his last 6 months at club he can help us get top 4. That would be best possible scenario before he departs.

Yep. (btw it's a good idea for the above post to be bumped/quoted once per two weeks until he's gone)

Add to that he was/is an on-pitch/locker-room extension of Woodward's deeply narcissistic tendencies, and for reasons already posted before, his was/is the worst contract given to a player during the Woodward years.

May I predict what is going to happen?
1. United will finally decide to sell him in January.
2. Pogba and his agent will feign outrage and shock and declare that Pogba wants to play for United and extend his contract.
3. Pogba leaves on a free again so that he and his agent get a bigger pay-out from another club.
