Paul Pogba / turned down United offer of 300k as “nothing”

This may not be a popular opinion, but I think we are better off without Pogba. While I appreciate what he has done for the club and respect the natural athletic ability he exhibits, there are too many "distractions" associated with him.

1) His agent
2) comments constantly being made that lead people to believe gossip
3) Inconsistent play
4) Questionable decision making
5) effort on the pitch when things are not going his way/ body language

Something tells me that we could be a better club without him. I have no idea he can make a club better, but I just don't know about this club.

You're better off without him. He's never lived up to his price tag or the hype at United, and when the going gets tough he downs tools.

Oh and as I posted that I saw this gem on Twitter:

hahahaha. I wish he would go to Liverpool. To me that talent and hype that surrounds him is not worth the distractions he brings to the team. He is such a niche player to me that it makes him limited in a lot of ways. Its sucks as his creativity is top notch, but he just does not mesh with United. He would mesh with Liverpool either to be honest.

We shouldnt renew his contract, he has generally been underwhelming and doesnt seem to fit in a particular role.
Let's build our midfield from the ground up with specialist players.

I'm fine with this. Poggers is mad good on his day, but not the team player we want him to be. And before you say it, that shouldn't have to reflect on the manager. Part of putting our shirt on is being willing to give everything for the team every damn time. I will miss him but I won't miss him. Let him walk. It's not my money to waste anyway. The club should always be bigger than any one player.

Can't believe people are actually worried/bothered Pogba is going to leave for nothing next summer.

The best thing for United would be him going regardless of the lack of fee. We've wasted five years trying to shoe horn the self loathing show pony into our side.

I can't wait for the day we no longer have to find a position for him in our side, he's not worth all the hassle he brings.

Goodbye good riddence.

Well said. Just hope his fanboys leave with him tbh. Its getting tedious.

Surely even if we wanted to sell Pogba in January he’d have the final say because he can sign a pre-contract on a bosman? Why would he agree to be sold 5 months early and forgo a massive signing on fee?

Can we demote him to U-23 to take away all the bad influence in comong months if we cant play him in every game

He loves LA doesn’t he?
It would not surprise me at all if he is in the US in a couple of years as he would get the freedom to strut his stuff and would really boost his profile in the States.
It’s not the 2000s anymore. All the big European leagues are very accessible so he’d still be popular staying in Europe. Too good to be in the states.

He's the most overrated United player I've ever seen.
He's barely scored any goals for us in the last year and we paid a fortune for him.
The West Ham handball penalty showed us everything we need to know about him - he'd prefer to give away a penalty rather than take one in the face for the team.

You're hypothesizing a scenario where Ole stay at least until the end of the season. New manager would always try to see what he can get from Pogba.

I am not sure about bad influence. Players into last months of their contract would always attract this kind of rumor, even Lingard has his fair share of coverage, let alone player like Pogba. Pogba was professional. No issue about him not putting effort in training, or refuse to follow manager tactics. It doesn't work with him for one reason or another. That's it.

We let it drag onto this stage, so we only have ourselves to blame (the decision makers at the club). If you're so desperate just to get him out, then give him up for loan with no fee attached while covering his wage. I am sure he wouldn't say no to that since there is no string attached to his future come summer. Punishing professional players for no professional problem is downright counter productive. DvB situation is bad enough.

Why do you think Jose labelled him as a virus then?

I'll keep saying this over and over - any player that runs their contract down to the last year and refuses a new contract should not be played at all. I don't care who the player is.

We're only benefitting the player's next club and delaying ourselves focusing on the future.

Actually its the opposite. The only reason players don't run down their contracts is the risk of injury in the contract year.

Sitting out the last 6 months of a doomed season would work pretty well for Pogba/Raiola.

I hope we don't hire such a bellend.

Two years of contract shite already. Feck it, move on.

So we play him to up the risk stakes on him not signing on?

If he wanted to be here he would have signed on already. He hasn't, we move on. Can't keep faffing about trying to fit him in and shouldn't keep trying to find a winning formula that involves him. What's the bloody point anyway?

I can actually quite clearly see we would play better with Cavani and don't push that much at all as, ultimately, it leads us nowhere beyond June.

Edi will give it his all when called upon. In the meantime, Pogba keep putting in half-arsed displays and here we are still fexking trying to make it work and make him sign...

Write it off, move on, fogedabout'im

Top 4?

Pretty much been settled that Jose was the only virus in that relationship. Fascinating that there’s still people who peddle his nonsense.

Our manager doesn't get fired after horrible start of the season culminating in 0:5 humiliation.

Our sporting director doesn't get fired after fecking up things so badly that after years of clear warning signs we are gonna lose Pogba for free.

It is clear what kind of behaviour the club tolerates - mediocrity

I would never invest the 400k per week and prodigious signing bonus to keep Pogba. It seems to get frequently forgotten that football is a team game. We have no balance in midfield at all, and Pogba is either an understudy to Bruno or a square peg in a round hole. I don’t discount the possibility he might find a role under a new manager but everything about his historic performances for us and his skills set, as well as the balance of our squad, tell us he should leave and the savings be invested into a bona-fuse number 6 to provide shape, security and stability to our midfield.

Pogba is a high profile, big name player with no role in our team, and he commands a hefty annual investment.

No player would ever sign for you the with this kinda logic tbh. I agree that the situation is fecked up for the fans and the team of course it's just that you cannot make a generalization of the Pogba situation, for every single player who's got a year left.
Sometimes it's the clubs who propose a shitty deal for a good and consistent player who's been nothing but a pro and who wants to stay. Why should the player accept a bad offer in this scenario ?

This may not be a popular opinion, but I think we are better off without Pogba.

Totally agree, lets face it, Pogba can do wonderful things with the football and he can win games for us, the problem is he's far too inconsistent,

He's paid a load of money and just isn't giving us back anywhere near what we are paying him, this could be down to our managers, he does seem to have a very stubborn personality so you can see him being one of those my way or now way types.

Could also be down to lack of focus due to his agent, yet you've think his agent would want his client to be playing at his best week in week out if he's wanting to make money on getting Paul a transfer.

Sir Alex made more good choices than bad, he would have known all about Pogba's talent but I assume there was something in his character, personality that he didn't like.

Serie A is not as strong as the Premier League, many players have came over here and not done as well as expected, I would also expect Juventus had a consistency of talented players all around him so they'd have fitted in him in a role that allowed him to be himself, where as our squad the last few years has been 6 or 7 very good players and then 4/5 good/average players, no serial winners round him,

Jose scrapped the "i make players feel special" routine before he arrived here so Pogba was playing for a manager who he knew could throw him under the bus and then Ollie - he's more of the nice guy, a yes guy, stubborn people usually get on better with people who are prepared to be as stubborn back, I wonder if Ole being such a nice chap makes it harder for Pogba and some of the others to get motivated,

Either way we were so bad on Sunday and I can't blame Ollie's motivational skills for that because a game against Liverpool should be firing our players up no problem even if we didn't have a manager, so for whatever reason sectors of that team were not playing for Ole.

Having watched him in the youth teams I was delighted we signed him back in 2016. I truely thought he would be a world class player.

He isnt even one of our important players..

In the five years he has been at the club overall he has been massive disappointment. Terribly inconsistent. A fecking waste of time if truth be told.

He is a squad player for us but he wants Superstar wages.....let some other mug pander to his demands.

Why do you think Jose labelled him as a virus then?

For the same reason he questioned De Bruyne training attitude and was then told to show the clips which he still hasn't? Mourinho is a self serving ass and has always managed to put the blame on someone. While Pogba has never had any issues with other managers whether we are talking about Conte, Allegri, Deschamps or Ole.

After last week he should never play for the club again. But that won't happen.

He's not good enough on the pitch to dictate the contract he wants, if he won't sign a new deal by December on Utd's terms then this clown should be out the door in January. Bring his circus somewhere else.

I genuinely don't understand how people can seriously claim that Pogba shouldn't play a game after last week. By the letter of the law it's a foul and a red card but his tackle wasn't actually that special, he played and won the ball, every weeks we see tackles where players are nowhere near the ball and only take the opponents legs out but some United fans are losing their collective minds about a tackle that they saw hundreds of times and more often than not only led to a yellow.

But that just means we are wasting millions on him without him even playing for that year.

If a player is genuinely better than his teammates, he needs to play regardless imo. We should play what's best for the team. If the player has an equivalent or better players in his position, then it makes sense to not prioritise his playing time. But the ultimate objective should be to maximise the teams performance and get good results.

With Pogba, if he doesn't sign and if Ole/new manager thinks he doesn't fit the system, then bench him. But if they think he can make a genuine impact to get us to win something, then by all means play him.

People are blinded by their hatred of Pogba. Football's an emotional game. The fact Paul has wanted to leave for, at least, a few years upsets a lot of people and makes him a magnet for criticism.

I have accepted that Paul has wanted to leave for ages, so my emotional investment in what he does is much lesser, hence his sending off was just a shrug of the shoulders moment for me.

The club is to blame for the situation with Paul. He has never, ever, hidden his desire to leave. His agent has said it a hundred times over. We kept him because...I dunno? He's a highly marketable face? We thought he might change his mind? Honestly, I dunno. But really the club should've just sold him, even at a loss, and moved on.

I feel like we deserve more from him and he deserves more from us as well. He has done well in patches with us to suggest he could be integral to balanced and organised side, then we continue to fecking disrupt that with poorly thought out signings or a having a plan how to truly get the best out of the squad.

It's a pity, I do think he flatters to decieve at points, but you could quite easily say that about every team we've had since he's been here. For his sake as well as ours, I hope we both just move on.

He should have been sold 2 years ago, for good money and we should have bought a midfielder we needed, instead.

Our recruitment is shambolic.

That's the thing for me, I am nonplussed by Pogba wanting to leave or not. What I don't get is people going out of their way to be upset about things that don't warrant it, like the red card during that last game, if you read people's posts without watching the action you would think that he didn't won the ball and just brainlessly hacked an opponents which is by the way what Ronaldo tried to do earlier in the game.

The reason the club failed to sell him is I believe because they overvalued his market, I think that they tried to sell him at a higher price than he is worth and failed to understand that CMs don't go for that much money because midfield dominance is the most collectively driven ability, you can do it with a range of players that are significantly less expensive than a Pogba or De Jong, the latter being in my opinion a very important example, no one will question his quality but he hasn't really been worth the amount that Barcelona paid, he hasn't given them the added value that an attacker of the same caliber and price would provide.

Call me crazy but I am actually quite looking forward to the post-Pogba era,

Love Paul as a person and personality, his view on life seems overall very positive and i find it hard to have any strong hate or dislike towards him however, the luggage that comes with Paul Pogba has unfortunately overshadowed his career here at United and for the sake of our club and his career he should have left about 2 years ago,

He needs a fresh challenge and we need to move past him and if I was his friend or agent etc i would heavily be recommending he moves away, the criminal part is how we are yet again going to be losing him for a free and further proves how shambolic this club is run, painfully bad.
