Paul Pogba - Juventus player | ban reduced - able to play competitively from March 2025

I know many people on here hate him. Personally I've always liked him for the player he was and felt he was more often than not the least of our worries.

Anyway sad to see how injury prone he became. No player deserves that.

Big loss for France for the World Cup. They usually are useless without him.

In what world would Pogba have made that squad on merit anyway?

Experience and leadership. Deschamps clearly values those. With Kanté out as well, that leaves Rabiot as their midfielder with a bit of experience. Otherwise it's mostly young players, who are obviously very talented, but inexperienced at that level.

Genius. The vision and variety I've not seen a passer like him and Becks/Scholes are my idols

One of the best long passers in football history both in terms of vision and technique (when given time by the opposition). Shame about the deficiencies in his game though by which I mean....literally every single other aspect of being a midfielder.

A rich man's Tom Huddlestone.

We used to see French squad depth images floating around. Time to see how good it really is.

Tchouameni is the only midfielder that I can think of right now. Dont know who else would play.

We replaced him with a better player who cost nothing. Says it all.

Eriksen has already turned up for more matches, and performed to a level that made a difference to the result more times this season than Pogba did for us in any given full season while he was here, even disregarding injuries.

Gotta feel for the guy as this could be his last chance to go to the WC. Whatever his failings and issues at United I have no ill feelings towards him and it would have been good to see him at the WC.

I agree with this.

A player that jogs around the pitch every match as if he's playing a charity match will always be worst of our worries. Wouldn't last long under ETH at all.

Yeah agreed, I’d rather a consistently good player than an occasionally brilliant one.

Pogba’s 2nd and 3rd season were really really good for us, there were still issues and errors but his output made up for them. The other 4 seasons it wasn’t good and he was unlucky with injuries. Eriksen is on track for double figures of PL assists, it’s not that amazing a thing to do but I’d have snapped your hand off if offered that at the start of the season from a CM.

Makes you wonder where we'd be if we'd signed Eriksen in 2016 instead of wasting 5 years on Pognothing
We made a lot of mistakes. In fact mostly mistakes you might say. Pogba was one of the biggest ones, right up there with Maguire.

He was not the main problem. Most likely nothing would have changed.

He really should have recognised how his body was falling apart and how important treatment was instead of jetting off away from club doctors. This just seems like his other follow up injuries as in over compensating for one area

I do wonder how much that has cost him if at all? You would think he would be better off listening to the club's medical staff

He played well for like 10 games after the Mou sacking. Far from really good 3rd season.

What makes you think that the club's medical staff would help or that he didn't listen to them? Ignoring the fact that United do not have a good track record when it comes to injuries or recoveries, in general the best specialists don't work for football clubs.

Paul Pogba his 13 league goals and 9 league assists in the 18/19 season seems more impactfull than Eriksen his current inpact. I would have liked to see second/third season Pogba in the current squad with Casemiro and Eriksen/Bruno.

People love to hate on Pogba but during his good period he was the only fun thing to watch in an otherwise not so fun to watch Manchester United. Too bad he turned into a injury prone and less good player for his later seasons.

Confirmed to be out for World Cup.
You never wish anyone injuries.

Even as fit, he is not good enough. Average player that turned for 1 of 10 games in our shirt. Slightly better in Juventus (first time). How he got that "star player" reputation, I don't know and probably never will.

I think he got the wrong advice in trying to handle the injury with rest instead of getting an operation when he should have taken one

I think he was decent in general, started the season well and generally kept fit more importantly. He had that insane purple patch when Ole came in but no one can sustain that level (he was playing CM and scored 8, assisted 6 in 10 games) so if that’s where you think he should have always been I’d say that’s just unrealistic.

If I remember correctly that advice was from the staff who misdiagnosed the severity of the injury. In order to get a surgery, a second opinion who have been required.

One word: Rashford.

That should tell you all about the medical advice from the club and how our players were treated under Ole i.e 'play them until they cannot'.

Edit: you can add Martial as well, especially with that interview that came out.

Even this injury could be put down to Pogba ignoring the club advice and going with the soft surgery (so it was described) and guaranteed problems down the line recovery just to play in the World Cup. Apparently his knee is guaranteed to relapse anyway. This is not a man who thinks long term

Pogba was a highlights player even at his peak for United.

I'd still take the current Eriksen over peak Pogba. A far more driven character who even when not at his best is absolutely everywhere on the pitch trying to keep the team ticking, never shying away from the ball and happy to help his defense out when they need it.

Pogba may have given the occasional 9/10 performance but there were far too many 5/10's in between.
Eriksen is rarely ever below 7/10

so glad we got rid of him, don't miss him in the slightest, complete waste of space player.

Absolutely disagree. He's just playing in a better team and he's actually fit to start these matches which Pogba hasnt been for a few years which was a major problem. Playing next to Lisandro and Casemiro, Pogba would be having the time of his life. But as we see from Juventus, he wouldnt be fit.

I thought he was great for Brentford last season, at the heart of everything good they were doing going forward. Most of his matches so far I've been dissappointed

Just like everybody else in that squad did.
Yeah not like he was one of their best players and a leader for them in that World Cup whilst also scoring a goal in the final. Think before you speak.
