The bad apple in work environment is rarely liked by others.
There's zero solid evidence that he was a "virus" or a bad apple.
Everything that's come out from more or less reliable sources indicates the opposite, i.e. that he got on well with the other players/was not a disruptive presence behind the scenes.
The only direct source (more or less direct anyway) I'm aware of indicating that he was a problem in terms of attitude or professionalism is...Mourinho. I personally don't put much stock in what he has to say about anything related to what you could label "man management" issues.
