I really like Pogba but he is a liability in a double pivot and since the Southampton game last season most teams are targeting him and are winning the ball in our half too much.

Need to find a way to move him further up the pitch, easier said than done with the players we have though.

Another thing besides the fitness. When Bruno looks good, he looks good, its no coincidence.

Pogba has looked good without Bruno, so it's definitely a coincidence.

He was surrounded the entire time he was on the pitch and was cut off from Fernandes who was playing far too high up the pitch. Hung out to dry by criminally bad tactics.

Didn't say he can't be, but he definitely looks better than trying to lift a mediocre team by himself, he's not that sort of player regardless of his reputation or price tag.

The issues seemed to be beyond tactics, he didn't seem to be match fit like almost everyone else. Almost everyone was individually bad.

You directly linked it to Bruno's form and said that it wasn't coincidental when it clearly is. Now if you said that the team as a whole was poor then yes, a corrolation is possible even though Pogba has had better games when surrounded by underperforming players.

Think you missed the point of the post, in that context Bruno = consistently performing player, could be anyone but for us Bruno is the obvious example. So i was suggesting it's not a coincidence that Pogba performs better when there's someone else carrying part of the load.

Did he really play today?
Was also not fit enough, physically and mentally like many others. Im actually surprised that OGS started him today for this reason. Surely VDB or Fred were in better condition.
But he wasn't the reason why we lost.

Are you being serious? He wasn't fit as he recovered from Coronavirus just last week. It's Ole who should be able to see this.

Pogba was bad and but so was 10 other player. Atleast Pogba had valid excuse

Honestly yes I am being serious. I take your points and they are valid, everyone else was as bad today, Bruno included. But watching him in midfield giving the ball away is just depressing.

I think we were better off pre covid when bruno arrived, magic and fred in midfield while Pogba was still out injured. Its either Bruno or pogba. Ole has to make the choice, the two of them taking up two critical positions doesnt work, kinda reminds me of Lampard and Gerrard for England.

He played shit, cant remember him having a worst game for us.
I can't remeber the last time he had a good game. He should be sold while we can. Never understood the thinking of the people that he will be our saviour.

Bruno has been awful for like 7-8 games now. People don't notice that because Pogba gets all attention.

Mind you Pogba had an atrocious game today but he should not have started if he was that unfit. Ole man management is not good enough.

Not surprised. Seen so many performances like that since he got here. He’s been here ages and played great once (45 mins against City away).

He has the talent, he has ‘it’, but shows it very rarely and we don’t need that. Rather someone giving 7/10 every week than 9/10 for minutes here and there whilst the rest is 3/10.

Yeah, he splays a nice pass out wide now and again but which World class player (or just top PL class) constantly gives the ball away in the same position time and time again and in dangerous areas too. Top players learn from the shitty mistakes they make. He doesn’t. Shame when he has it all in his locker but he needs fecking off now. He’s had so many chances.

Bruno was far from atrocious today. He had an absolute liability next to him in Pogba, countless times I saw him busting a gut to win back a counter attack because Pogba fecked up a pass.

Pogbas bad is not close to Brunos bad performance. I mean today he was really, really shit. The entire game he kicked down Palace players or fecked up a pass. He had one decent shot and another tame effort. That's about it.

Missed today's game but saw someone say he looked weak?! Must not be fully recovered from Rona so why did Ole play him.

Did not take long for the tripe posts about Fernandes to surface though. Where was his mythical impact today..

Don't disagree with that but Pogba returned last week from Coronavirus. Playing him today was incredibly stupid

The attacking threat United have when it clicks overshadows how unbalanced Pogba and Bruno are in midfield, that's what we saw briefly last season and then slowly started to fall apart and has continued this year.

Pogba and Bruno are two of our most expensive and superstar players, but they should not be shoehorned in, both should be competing for the AM only. Their best games have came playing ahead of a box to box CM and dedicated DM.

I doubt either would accept being a back up, and personally rate Bruno higher in the position.

Pogba is possibly the most overrated footballer I've ever seen . Wish we could sell him and get on with it because he offers us very little

To be fair yes Bruno has been awful for 7 or 8 games. Perhaps its cos him and Pogba dont fit in the same team?

Oh please let's stop with this one. He has been in full, not light training for over a week. He has also been broadly piss from an individual performance standpoint towards the tail end of last season.

He can be forgiven as he's had no preseason and caught coronavirus.

Not sure why you are quoting me there? I said Bruno was bad today.

He started 13 Games last season (3-Assists and a Goal). I think many others can do better than that. We mised the boat when PSG offered 100M+ last year before Pandemeic.

Thought it was an odd choice to start him when he's had less than a week in training with Donny much fitter. Surely that's why we bought him...

We could perhaps give him away. Am sure someone would take him..

You have not seen many footballers obviously, doubt you have seen all in our team then.

If you think a footballer can be fully match fit after a week of training then are you sure this is the right sport for you..

He needs to get match fit based on this match.

Horrific, does not look match fit at all but he was so sloppy today. Should play the league cup but not start against Brighton.

Pogba wasn't great today but, as I'm not in training with him, I've no idea how badly he was hit by COVID19.

All that aside, as much as it hurts me to admit it, I sympathise with Pogba not wanting to sign a new deal. His prime years will be up in two or three seasons. Why stay at a club that seems to have no ambition other than to scrape Champions League qualification to keep the finances looking happy?

He may not be match fit but a lazy covid excuse does not mitigate another shit performance from him. As I said his inconsistent performances is not limited to this game, so stop giving trip excuses.

He was shit, even for less than match fit standards. Couldn't find simple passes, kicked down Palace players in the opening 10 mins and generally did everything wrong

You think recovering from Coronavirus in a week for top flight football is sufficient? This game I can give him a pass because I know how bitchy Coronavirus can be even after recovery. He was bad just like 10 others

Pogs and Bruno are not a pair without a proper player that knits it all together. Sadly that player just gone to Liverpool

He looked a step slower than 2/3 years ago when he returned last year, today was much worse. Needs to improve sharply, can't be having another year of what his best role is, and harping back to the player he was at Juve,

If he had a bad bout he wouldn't have trained fully for over a week. And I already agreed, there are mitigating circumstances but only to an extent.

He didn't have covid when his own performances tailed towards the end of last year, he didn't have covid when Palace beat us last season and today he was out there drawing silly fouls and misplacing easy passes from the first minute.

My qualm with him is general inconsistency. Even for someone who has only trained fully for 8 days, he was extremely poor.

It seems we have aged Rooney mk 2.

When he's fit and performs badly he's not fit and the manager shouldn't have selected him. When he's fit and he is fit but performs poorly he's been positioned 9 metres from his ideal position and therefore can't play effectively. When he's fit and performs adaquatly offensively but completely reneges on his responsibilities defensively it's his partners fault for not being a peak hybrid of Makelele and Keane. When he just about scrapes by defensively but does nothing offensively he's having to cover defensively for mediocrity (or see 9 metre positional problem), despite stats showing he did little of the sort.

Truly good players are good players regardless. They don't play for 4 full years and not stand out in either good, decent or mediocre teams. They don't get overlooked in award ceremonies year after year when the likes of Shaw, Herrera and a goalkeeper; or a bloke that literally signed a dozen games before the end of the season get recognised.

Great players are great players and Pogba ain't one I'm afraid.
