Good performance apparently but where can you see the assist?

Yeah, won the tackle and played in Giroud, but won’t count as an assist.

Was good today though. Feel like him, and the rest of the French have more levels to use though.

Don't get me wrong, I rate him (as a player) and feel he's badly treated but was gutted for the fantasy World Cup, getting my hopes high after reading his post.

He had very average second half. Don't know if he was instructed to sit back like the rest of France team but the lack of intensity/urgency from their players was embarrassing.

Good first half though. Not sure why they stopped trying after half time.

Great 1st not so good 2nd but in general France was pretty dire in the 2nd half. Saying all that I'm glad we're probably avoiding them.

He did all the things in the second half people say he can't do ? Filled holes. Sat back. Disciplined. Playing for the team. It's not glamorous.....it wasn't in games when Scholes or Carrick did it but they got credit for it.

This guy can't win.

He's kind of an existence player. No need to look to deep, just whatever happens and wherever he pops up he does what he does. No point trying to change it or getting upset as a fan, just gotta go with it.

I've come to the conclusion with Paul is that he's a good player who has great games.
Its not inconsistency, its a good player having a great game who then reverts back to his natural level.

Exactly.

If anyone’s interested in L’Equipe ratings, which sometimes seem harsh. The top 3 were Kante who got an 8. Pogba and Giroud got a 7.

I think he's a having a decent World Cup so far despite the commentators going quiet whenever he makes a nice pass or plays a decent through ball.

He's made the difference a couple of times - and that sort of understated simplicty is exactly what we'd like to see next season at United instead of the exhibitionism.

I wrote this in the World Cup matchday thread, but it's worth repeating in terms of how Pogba is perceived elsewhere: Watching on TSN in Canada, and the pundits were spouting the usual "Pogba has to step up and take control," etc., so I was curious how they'd see that first half. Soon as they went to the studio after the half-time whistle, the first thing they did was shower plenty of praise on Pogba, picking out his lofted pass to Mbappe and his part in the goal. So not all the media pundits are being harsh on him. He's winning people over.
Its a simple formula really. Pundits expect certain things of different players. If said player meets those expectations/standards, he will be adored. If he doesn't, he'll get stick. Such is the world of professional sport

Am I criticizing him? No. 90% France players didn't look good in the second half including Pogba. Obviously not his fault, alone but France should've been comfortably control the game if everyone had showed bit of urgency to win the ball back. That were a typical 6/10 performance from France in second half. Didn't do either lot of thing right or wrong, they were just lucky enough that Peru players were clueless in front of the goal.

They had a very good first half, especially Pogba then decided to sit back to defend 1-0 lead against fecking Peru. Saying he had good game is an overstatement, he had very good first half. Only Kante (maybe Lucas Heznandez as well) had good game for France, the guy worked his ass off for the whole match.

Tho entire tone of this post is negative barring saying he had a good first half. France are very similar in tactics to united. They were well drilled second half with a low block and no pressure on the ball. Pogba did his job very well. First half his performance was outstanding. This is a more realistic assesment.

Whatever, at the end of the day, they won 1-0 and walked the first half so no one care. If it had been 0-0 in the 60-70 minutes mark, you would see a lot of criticisms.

But sure they were disciplined and successfully defend 1-0 lead against Peru who had 61% possession, 6 shots (3 from France) in the second half . Such a marvelous performance, let's we all praise them.

Pogba: “Criticism? It's the European & French mentality. It appears you can’t get a haircut and play football. You have the right to dance, we only talk about the negative when I dance, but when I score or win, I don’t hear anything, but when we lose, it's a problem.” #mufc [RMC]

So, so true......pure hypocrisy

It's true - when he was at Juventus these things were never a problem. The moment he came here it was a massive problem.

Nobody cares less about his hair, his dancing or his emojis

Mourinho trying to persuade Pogba to get rid of Raiola. Hope it works.

What is all this fuss about him getting dropped? Does it honestly require 16 interviews? He wasn't playing well so sat out a few games. Getting tedious hearing the same shit from a new interview every week.

Edit: Also, just saw the news about Mourinho trying to get him to drop Raiola. I don't see this ending well at all.

Seems to me Paul could take a page out of Romelu's book and learn a bit of humility. Appears he s seeking the press a lot for someone who should be focused on the world cup.

Because at United he is the main guy. With that transfer fee for a midfield player the media set the highest standard for him, expecting a goal a game, assists, maybe Ronaldo-Messi level of a player.
At Juventus people were not watching as much, but when he does something incredible, the social media hyped him so much that he is the next Ballon D'Or player.

Problem is United matches are televised all around the world and people are more aware of his bad performances.

Edit:
Moving to a big club is no easy feat, all eyes wil be all around you.. you either accept to be criticize or moan about it.

Fairly obvious dig at Mourinho.
I think this is the biggest weakness of Mourinho that even he
has to accept. He is maybe the biggest high profile manager to have never played football and this means that he will always lack something when it comes to man management and his handling of players given that he's never had to deal with the pressure. I think even Hazard and also Ramos said something like this about Mourinho as well.

That's his first interview for France in 2 years

Dig or not he's making too much fuss about him getting dropped. Does he think he's so special he should never get dropped?

It couldn’t be more obvious that a) Pogba is pissed off about being dropped b) he didn’t think he deserved to be dropped and c) he’s got the hump with Mourinho for dropping him. The worst thing about all of this is his complete refusal to take any personal responsibility for what happened.

A) good. I'd be pissed off if he wasn't.
B) Where has he said that ?
C) Depends what you read into things, I think most of the attacking players would appreciate a manager and tactics that get more out of them.

As for the bolded part :-

"This is also the coach's job, this is his role, I need to accept that and like I'm always saying, the only answer is on the pitch."

Acceptance and responsibility in one sentence.

It's boring listening to posters making what they want out of any interview with Pogba all summer. We get it. You don't like him. Hopefully he moves on and you can do the same.
