Look, I'm well aware that referees show leniency, especially in derby games and nobody actually wants anyone to be sent off.

I just have a major problem with anyone, our player or otherwise hacking down an opponent cynically to stop a counter. It's laughed off, especially by ex-pros on commentary/in the studio as clever play but it's pure shithousery and it needs to start being punished so players stop doing it.

Remember when Ole chased after the Newcastle player and hacked him down?

Quite rightly it was a red card and yeah he was through on goal and Ole was last man so you can argue that's why he got a red instead but it's literally a kick instead of a tackle and it happens so often.

We as fans absolutely loved it but SAF was apoplectic after it because it's such a shit thing to do.

And Pogba was on one after the Lingard tackle so you can see as he's chasing the City player he just kicks him. It should have been a red card in the same way the Solskjaer one was.

So you think that a tackle from behind would've been better than a kick? Chasing a player in full speed would've forced him to go down with both feet to catch him with a tackle, something that would've endangered the player even more. If every cynical foul that intends to stop a counter would've been a red every game would've finished with 6 players on each side.

Solskjaer took one for the team and he was rightfully praised for it. Same with Pogba today who brought some physicality and roughed them up a bit. Remember the first game at Old Trafford, when they were milking the clock cynically in the last 10 minutes and we were all crying out for somebody to get stuck in? Today we finally got it.

Do you even know the football rules before saying something so stupid ?

It’s a real shame to see G. Neville join in the nonsensical Pogba hair comments.

I felt that he had a bit of an aha-moment in the second half where he suddenly realized that making that forward run is pretty simple and with his talent he can get a whole basket of goals. He will learn a lot from this game.

No I don't think he should've done anything other than keep chasing him until either he was in a position to tackle safely or one of the other players could get involved and tackle him properly. Neither a tackle from behind nor a kick was a good option.

Solskjaer took one for the team and was praised by the fans but SAF was livid and rightfully so.

And yeah, they were milking the clock cynically and yeah we wanted them to get stuck in but a blatant kick from behind to hack someone down isn't getting stuck in, it's being a twat.

Smash into them like this:

Great.

Get in their faces, great.

Kick their legs from behind just because they're running away from you? I'm sorry but that's just a bollocks move and it needs to be called for what it is, cheating and unprofessional conduct.

And as you said, if every cynical foul was punished with a red then teams would end up with 6 a side. Good. I want cynical fouls taken out of the game and if that's what it needs to do it then so be it.

Yes for fecks sake.

I know Solskjaer got a red because he was last man back and it was a goalscoring opportunity, not for kicking the guy from behind.

I'm saying he SHOULD have got a red for kicking him from behind with no attempt to win the ball but it's not and it's considered normal in a joking manner and that's wrong.

How fecking hard is it to read posts?

What an ignorant post. Have u not seen all the tactical fouls city players did on lingard , Pogba etc

There was nothing wrong with what Neville said.
Neville got personal.... simple. An ex United player pundit should focus on the team and if need be give Pogba a ring.. not perpetuate this personal theme about his hair

Average first half, fantastic second half. About time we saw him bomb on again and get into the oppositions box. His first goal was brilliant and the run for the second was too.

Loved when it started getting a bit heated and he got involved, nice to see a bit of emotion from him and stick up for his mate when Fernandinho chopped him.

Have to agree with Nev on his hair do though, funny choice!

Somebody lit a rocket under him in the second half, needed a performance for him to believe in himself and he got on the score sheet twice and even showed a billy big bollocks moment late on to keep the team buzzing as well. Hopefully he can kick on after the world cup and come back strong. He'll need a big one next season.

"Don't listen to the shit chat" Yep. Makes the football experience much better.

There were worse tackles than that during the game and the ref gave yellow cards. He was very consistent and the tackle wasn't even that dangerous.

The irony...
Thats what he started with. How City does it as part of their tactic.
He's just being consistent in hating that behavior.

To get the best out of Pogba (our best player without a doubt) we need to play 433, he can’t make those forward runs and spends half the match on his own 30 yard line in a 2 man midfield with Matic, it’s not his game at all.

We should priorities a top class midfielder in the summer to compliment the 433 system.

@BusbyMalone Brilliant username mate :lol:.

Back to the topic. Pogba has it all but sometimes tries to make it more complicated. The best midfielders are the one who not only make it look easy but play it easy. As Cruyff once said: ''Playing football is very simple, but playing simple football is the hardest thing there is''.

Once Pogba learns that he doesn't need to be hollywood to be MOTM, then he will become consistent. After the match he said he's currently working 1on1 with Carrick and learning from him. This is exactly what we need, it also shows he's hungry to improve with is always a great sign. Couple the above with more late runs into the box and he'll get 10-15 goals a season easy.

There were a few naughty tackles... it was a huge profile game, a local derby between the top two teams... both teams could have lost a few players to red. What would have that added to the game?

The ref did ok in what was always going to be v v v difficult game to administer.

Pogba did what he is always capable of... let's hope that the manager learns from this.

And... I hope we can also manage our expectations of him.

Said before immense player but football the last time I watched it is a team game. Its not solely his responsibility to win football games. It's also easier to play with a freedom when you play with quality around you. It's easier to play with freedom when you are playing winning football. We saw the best of him because there was a nothing to lose attitude in the second half which we know conversely is normally the polar opposite to how we play when the focus is often on not losing first....

feck me. That’s an absolutely terrible post from start to finish. 4am so I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt as you’re normally a sensible chap. You’ve had a reggie blinker here

Liked the questions Henry put to Pogba at the end of the interview.
If most people asked that, with Pogba's attitude towards himself, he'd probably brush it off as 'who are you to say that', but coming from a legend of the game, especially a French one in this case, it's the questions we all want answers for.

Love the bit on MOTD with lampard and Murphy (who are actually good pundits imo) where they point out in the first half how he just wanted the ball to play about with it and do trucks then as soon as he used his ability to shift it quick then make the run to actually use his class technique and get on the end of a dangerous ball he started looking brilliant.

Those runs he made into the box also makes Sanchez extremely dangerous as he is constantly looking to do that lofted ball past the central defender.

Man, if he could deliver performances like that consistently, he would have no competition for the Ballon D'or. Hopefully we see a more composed, adult and consistent Pogba next season

In that interview with Henry he mentioned that Carrick is helping him with the analysis after the game and I couldn't think of any better help for Pogba to improve his understanding of the game and hopefully thus his decision making on the pitch as well. Also the having two midfield partners helse Pogba a lot because he can make these runs without exposing our midfield too much.

Just saw a video on insta where after the game he is hugging De Gea and saying to him something like (You're) 'Numere f*cking Uno' (2-3 times).

What a lad ! :)

I don't think there was anything wrong with his tackle either. City players make those fouls all the time and this time Pogba took one for the team because if he hadn't made the tackle City would've been away.

Entitled to your opinion but to be honest you're wrong. It was a cynical foul to break the counter. Nothing like Solskjaer and certainly not a red card offence.

Thanks :D

Yeah he does tend to be a little too elaborate at times. He is our best outfield player when on form, just really needs to sort that consistency out and we'll be golden.

The red card is for the situation not the tackle, how can you not understand that ffs

This video hurts my eyes.

It was a great tackle. Love it. Deserve yellow yes but was very important to stop their counter, something City do thousands of times.

If this deserves red, we might as well disallow all sorts of contact in this sport.

I personally don't like that line of thinking, you'd think he was Fellaini.

It's like some didn't see what he did for Juve or our youth teams. He is a magician. It's annoying that somehow his shooting has deserted him because he scored screamers for fun before he came back here. The guy is capable of so much more than just getting on the end of things in the box. 9/10 it's Pogba that plays those balls over the top. He's better than anybody we have it creating, it's the others that need to find a way to make the runs and finish the chances.

Obviously itsi great that he can do this, but it's a million miles away from being his main strength in attack.
There are players in the world who are better at Creating. I would buy a creator and he could be our Yaya. That would benefit us more.

Strangely, I enjoyed the tackle more than his goals. Keep in mind, I was shell shocked we had turned it around.

I hope he can turn it around now and perform at this level. I was becoming extremely frustrated with him and after the first half I came in to post that "SAF got it right. Useless" but thank God the thread was locked

Nothing wrong with the criticism on Pogba. Its the sulking that has upset the fans. The second half last night was epic for him and for all of us. He played with such a big red heart and started getting in to their blue faces and dominating midfield . Making great tackles and scoring two wonderful goals on top of that. Im so happy for him.

Lets end this troubled season with a second place in the league and a FA-cup title. LPool knocking City out on Tuesday only to go out in the next round against the big guns in the CL could make this summer a really pleasant one. Not to forget the Jamie spitting incident :p

That Solskjaer moment was pure poetry.
