Patrick Kluivert - Ruud van Nistelrooy

Sources in Spain claimed last night that United are also trying to sign Barcelona's star striker Patrick Kluivert.

The Dutchman, 26, has long been admired by Ferguson and he has tried to attract him to Old Trafford in the past - but the package has always been prohibitive.

It seems he cannot resist the temptation to have another go and pair him with his Dutch team-mate Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Like many clubs across Europe, Barcelona are struggling financially and need to raise cash quickly. They want to sign Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink but cannot match Chelsea's £9m valuation.

Selling Kluivert would solve that problem, especially as he is on £70,000 a week after tax.

Kluivert will add nothing to our game. We need a pacy striker, not a primadona money grabbing wanker. Although I would love to see one training session with him and Keano <img src="graemlins/keano.gif" border="0" alt="[Keano]" />

admittedly i havent seen him as much as yourself, but ive seen clips of him scoring a few headers and he looked decent.

Last week the Spanish papers said we were signing someone from Betis and now its Patrick Kluivert... I think he'd be great but now his wages would be something!

Barca, with their 100% record in the CL are hardly going to let their main striker go in mid season :rolleyes:

We won't pay £8m and £70,000 per week before tax for a cup-tied primadona. Kluivert is a money-grabbing twat. If we are running to that kind of money and just want a striker for domestic competition this year, then Shevchenko gets my vote. Otherwise buy uncup-tied Klose for £5m.

Kluivert can go and feck right off.

Firstly, he didn't even have the courtesy to come and speak to Fergie when we agreed a fee with Milan for him in 1998/9.

Secondly, he appeared on TV just after this, and said the reason for not joining us was because the only English team he would ever consider playing for was Arsenal.

Got to agree he's a decent player, but if someone comes out with this sort of shite, he should never have another opportunity to join us.

Big time tosser. Quite simply not a United player!
 
Ridiculous postings, guys. You slag of a striker that has been scoring 15-20 goals per season in arguably the best league in europe in the last 5-6 years, some of them fecking amazing goals out of nothing.
He is a brilliant linkup player, fantastic in the air, has a fantastic technique, and is not easily pushed of the ball, scored 3 goals in 6 matches in this years CL so far against Bayer Leverkusen, Newcastle and Inter. Also has scored 9 goals in 17 matches so far in a domestically struggling team in Spain, and I haven't checked if he has started all of them either, so what the feck are you on about ?
I think they could be an amazing partnership, they would need to develop it, of course.

Moved out of Holland at the age of 18, more or less bullied and chanted out of the country for something that was clearly an accident ("Kluivert,Kluivert, can we cross the road?"). Did community service for it and a driving ban. If the court system is finished with it, why should we hold it against someone ? Or in other words...how many of you has driven too fast when you were 18 ?

Both Ruud and Ole miss sitters, Cole did, Giggs does, strikers do from time from time, that's human.
What puzzles me most is that you are all going to love him if he signs.
Just like we've seen from time from time that some of us take the piss at our own players when they play bad, and love them again when they play good.
