Patrick Dorgu | United in talks

The point I’m trying to make is we’re signing a LB to play LWB. That’s our priority position.
If he's comfortable enough to put in good performances at RW the attacking side of playing LWB shouldn't be a problem. Or RWB for that matter.

He's played as often at RW as he has at LB this season along with practically every position on both flanks and he's been played centrally too.
Only 1 place he’s playing for us though. Unless we sign another LB

Hopefully if we get him he does well. I have a bit of PTSD from recent Serie A signings (excluding Amad) but it's definitely one of the priority positions we need to fill right now.

Got to be honest I know next to nothing about him so my expectations are quite low until I see him play.

But Mazraoui, who is a good footballer, was good value and is homophobic, shouldn’t be a clubs LB or LWB over any significant time period because he’s not a natural left footer. He should be the competition and alternative to Dalot as a RB given we sold AWB.

So for me it’s inexcusable.

At least we can agree that the lack of long term planning here is signing someone to play inverted, then sack that manager and switch to a completely different system that none of your current fullbacks are suited to.

We’ve essentially binned Dalot, Shaw, Malacia and to a lesser Mazraoui because of the system change and created problems in terms of squad composition that are impossible to solve internally, and incredibly difficult to fix in January.

I feel incredibly sorry for Amorim to only have a January window to maybe add a player to help him.
Is it revelant to bring that up and is it even true?

You're moving the goalposts now. He's not exclusively a LB. If he can play anywhere on the left flank he'll be able to play LWB.
That’s what I meant obviously. We’re signing him to play LWB in the system we’re using.

The reviews I have read on him mostly seem a bit tepid. Think we really need wing backs who are going to change the way we play..hope he is up to the job

Position?

Please report back on his performance as the cafe have no clue about him as a player.
Google reckons he's at left back. Should be a good test of his athleticism against Dumfries if nothing else.

However, Google is wrong as often as it's right about positions and formations.

I think any left footed leftback would change how we play realistically, using a bit more width and hopefully providing a bit more quality distribution than Dalot with his left

Thing is I dont think Dorgu is faster than Dalot. So it would probably be a downgrade on speed at the same time

The wing backs are crucial in Amorim’s system. Patrick Dorgu is dynamic and offers quality that we currently lack on the left: height, power, technical ability and brains. He has excellent close control and can carry the ball easily. He also has a good weight of pass and eye for a goal. He would be a valuable asset for around £25 - £30m.

It’s relevant when I consider squad composition so yeah. And yeah it’s true.

Not disputing it but what happened with regards to this homophobic behaviour?

There was no homophobic behaviour, Maz practices the religion of Islam, and refused to wear the LBQT+ armband twice due to his religious beliefs.

He is allowed to have his own beliefs and views, while following his faith, it doesn't mean he is homophobic.

I have nothing against this deal provided that we still go for more experienced LWB in summer. We also shouldn't be afraid to walk away because it's only way we will not get ripped off in future negotiations.
If we go for any deal now we won’t be adding another in the summer as we have Leon incoming

Thank you! If I could like a post, I would give you a like.

Kind of highlights how far we’ve fallen that I’d fecking kill for Valencia in our team right now and he probably wasn’t even in the top 30 players I’ve seen play for us
You’re thinking about it the wrong way. We are not thinking about top 30 players but about players who would suit the system and TV would have been ideal. This is how we should be looking at team building too, how the team is as a sum of its parts, not about buying all the big names. We’ve tried that and it’s left us broke

Google Mazraoui homophobia.

Religion or not homophobia is homophobia. Anyway let’s not take the topic any further away from Dorgu by going into specifics.

I do think a footballers attitude and beliefs are a relevant consideration in the modern game as it harms campaigns the club would otherwise support. I’ll leave it there.

I turned this Lecce Inter game on 37 seconds ago and in that time Inter have had two goals disallowed. Lecce look absolutely pants.

This sounds like ChatGPT
