Patrick Dorgu | United in talks

He plays mostly on the right side though. Ffs don't let this be another stupid purchase. We can't afford it. Its the last thing we need is buying a player that plays out of his favourite position

He plays LB/LW/RW/RB quite efficiently, LB and RW seem to be his most played, it's more about getting some attacking flair and physical presence in a WB, who can also use that athleticism and physicality to cover defense. It's like playing Amad at RWB.

Not exactly opposed to this, but a couple of red flags for me - another Seria A player, but this time from the bottom half, and he doesn't even play on the left a lot. Plus, it's another one for the future, although I guess it fits with this supposed 2028 goal.

Is there really no way to get Rayan Aït-Nouri?
We need more than one wing back so we may still go for him. If Antony, Garnacho, Casemiro, Malacia and rashford are all leaving then you’d have to think we’re looking at bringing in at least 3 players this month.

He's played 10 games on the left wing and 12 on the right from a quick look. He started LB in their last game. Bit dramatic to claim it's not his favoured position.

Just checked and last season he exclusively played only the left as well.

here's me thinking the fact he can play LB and RW is great and has no downside

but the caf has other ideas

Who has now been reported is close to agreeing a deal with psg again.
The way people assume we can just sign or sale players without teams and the said players agreeing is hilarious. Plus Nunez will cost closer to £50m whereas this is a nice risk free transfer, assuming we don't go crazy with the wages, which won't cost us more than £10m per year if we do it right.

I'd be happy with this. He looks athletic and seems to be good going forward. We need a left footer on that side too

Looks physically imposing and an athlete, something we desperately need.

Looks nice and comfortable on his right foot as well as natural leftie. Over 6 feet, quick and strong. If he reaches anywhere near his predicted potential would be a good shout.

Yeah there is potential for a lot to happen, even if Garnacho goes I’m not expecting a huge amount spent on any individual player but we could see 4-5 out and 2-3 in.

Like you I’m not eager to see Garnacho leave but we kind of have to accept the reality of our situation and at least try to do something about it.
It's just the people in charge I'm not sure I trust is the issue but we will find out! Just realised that it doesn't close 31st Jan either but midnight on 3rd Feb

Can't say I've ever seen much of him but from what I read he sounds a very attacking left back who can cover multiple positions... pretty much exactly what we need.

Any Serie A fans here who can shed light on whether he will be more Antony or Amad?

Don’t like the look of this guy to be honest.
Looks fast sure, but one-footed and clunky to me. I want technicality, someone who’ll scare defenders when on-on-one.
Often enough we’ll create space and find Dalot on the wing but he’s not good enough to do anything with it because he’s doesn’t have the ability to beat his man.

If we are going to spend on a new leftback, might as well go out there and get the best? Like Nuno Mendes
Last thing we should be doing right now is signing expensive injury prone players

I use Archive.ph to read those.

No way would I pay for the guff they produce.

Described Dalot as a specialist right back...
Yeah I’m not arsed enough about reading newspapers to get round paywalls. Their United podcast is decent though.

Would be such an improvement on Dalot. One of the main gripes about Dalot is how slow he is to close attackers down and allow a cross in (see Brightons goal yesterday). Dorgu is a lot more aggressive closing down and great at "attacking the space".

Also being able to move Dalot on to the right side would get more out of him than we're seeing this season.

Heard good things and fits the physical profile of what we need which is good. Also good age, not a crazy price. Hope we get it sorted asap as we urgently need a left back.

Ehh, nothing in those highlights scream high potential to me. Didn't see him whip in a single cross from that left wing. We need more attacking impetus from our wingbacks.

He looks like a good athlete though.

Based on people who have seen him play - he looks to be one with good potential and his stats seem promising as well. But I worry if he is to be the first choice for the LWB role for now. I don't think the environment at this moment is conducive to any of these young players. It looks to be really hampering most of the current crop.

Look at what's happened to Garnacho, who's gone backwards. We're fine to sell him cause he is inconsistent, probably using the proceeds to bring in other young players like Dorgu, who could also end up being inconsistent (expected at this age). Garnacho, Zirkzee, Hojlund, Mainoo - none of them are anywhere near the required levels for a half decent PL club right now, but that's not down entirely due to lack of talent. Is it sensible to add another promising but probably inconsistent young player to the pressure cooker?

Ideally, he should be the back up to a more senior and established player (don't say we have Shaw), but looks like if he comes in, he'll be the senior to 17 year Deigo Leon (when he comes in the summer). I really hope he succeeds, but this is a big risk. Would probably have been safer to go for a PL proven player like Kerkez, even for a slight premium. Anyhow, hope the fee isn't more than £30m including all addons, else it wouldn't make any sense.

Seems like a sensible signing. Up and comer, not so expensive with high ceiling. Give him £70k a week. Move onto next target.

Every signing we make should be physically very good. We look second best in that department against practically everyone

So which LWB should we sign that is good 1 v 1 in attack, has good crossing, fast and atheltic, good in defence, not injury prone, has the desire to join Manchester United and is financially realistic for our club in a sense that we don't have to pay a fortune for his transfer fee?

I know I'll be in the minority but I don't understand paying this type of money when we could just pay £30m+ to Wolves for Rayan whose already premier league proven.

We signed Diogo Leon and have Amass in the academy, we don't need a young prospect we need an established starter. Get Rayan or Robinson.
