Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu is a Red

Good luck to him.

Can't believe we're now signing players into the 2030s.

Good stuff.

Like 99% of people here I can't say how good he is, or (more importantly for a 20 year old) how good he'll be in a few years. Only time will tell.

But he's at least the right profile of player: young, athletic, relatively low cost and addresses an obvious need in the team. The more signings like that, the better.

If things don't work out, easy to sell. Something we have not had in a long time.

13 just never really looks good on a player for some odd reason. Except if you're Ballack or Park Ji-Sung.

Got a good feeling about this one. Although I’ve said that before and been burned, but I think he breaks the mould of a lot of our recent signings in that he’s got the pace and power that we lack. I personally think he looks decent technically too, though some aren’t as sold. He reminds me of other fullbacks/wing backs that have done well with the type of game he has.

I'd never heard of him until a week ago, but United getting an actual LB/LWB has gotta be good business, even if he's only half-decent it's better than plugging the hole with players not in their natural position. Shoving players into roles they're not comfortable with just puts a team at a disadvantage from kick off. Nervous player, and you can be sure the opposition get briefed to target their side.

Another Dane at MU, at least he'll have Hojlund and Eriksen to take him under the wing. Even as an English speaker from up North that spent 15 years working down South, I always found a new contract to be easier when someone was from my neck of the woods. Helps settle in faster when you have things in common with someone right off the bat.

Hopefully, he can transition seamlessly. Although, I've just seen he's never played wing back before?

Welcome Dorgu!

A sensible signing. Gone are the days we pay crazy wages and fees for mediocre players or players past their prime to this.

I think he's the right profile. Then we'll see if he's the right level or has the scope to get to where we need him. Good luck to him.

I’m glad we got him at a modest price as opposed to the Woodward days where we would have probably chased Alphonso Davies and then handed him £400k a week for 5 years.

I’m guessing him and Heaven will be unveiled at OT today pre-match?

Welcome Patrick! Wearing my lucky number too! Hope he is a big success, lad certainly looks built for the PL.

Welcome Pat!
Third player of Nigerian descent to sign for United. Hopefully he fairs much better that the first two. Though I personally still have hope for Zirkzee.

I know the first one you mean is Ighalo, but who's the second? You surely don't mean Chido Obi who is also Nigerian Danish, just like Dorgu, actually.

Edit: Just seen that you mentioned Zirkzee.

I’ve never heard of him but is €30m for a 20 year old considered sensible?

Excited to watch him play. His debut should be on Friday against Leicester.

Compared to some signings in recent years it's a pretty sensible figure. But honestly time will tell, transfer fees are normally judged a year or two later depending on how the player performs and develops.

If is become like Evra, it will be a steal however if he has a similar trajectory to Malacia it will be seen as rip off.

Good luck Pat.

And guys let's not rip him apart if he doesn't start performing straight away or has a super bad game. The kid is 20 and going to a new league. He will have bad games for us.
I was going to until you said that.
