Anyone a fan?

Absolutely brilliant they are I think, Hayley Williams is just class.

One of my favourite live performances, love the intro and the outro.

Can't wait for the new album out in September.

You like Paramore Viva? Wow i really did get the wrong idea of you.

But yeah, they're alright. Would do Hayley.

This band fecking sucks!!!!!!

(Hit that, hit that snare)

I'm in the business of misery,
Let's take it from the top.
She's got a body like an hourglass, it's ticking like a clock.
It's a matter of time before we all run out,
When I thought he was mine she caught him by the mouth.

I waited eight long months,
She finally set him free.
I told him I couldn't lie he was the only one for me.
Two weeks and we've caught on fire,
She's got it out for me,
But I wear the biggest smile.

Whoa, I never meant to brag
But I got him where I want him now.
Whoa, it was never my intention to brag
To steal it all away from you now.
But God does it feel so good,
Cause I got him where I want him now.
And if you could then you know you would.
It's gonna just feel so...
It just feels so good.

Second chances they don't ever matter, people never change.
Once a whore you're nothing more, I'm sorry, that'll never change.
And about forgiveness, we're both supposed to have exchanged.
I'm sorry honey, but I passed it up, now look this way.
Well there's a million other girls who do it just like you.
Looking as innocent as possible to get to who,
They want and what they like it's easy if you do it right.
Well I refuse, I refuse, I refuse!

Whoa, I never meant to brag
But I got him where I want him now.
Whoa, it was never my intention to brag
To steal it all away from you now.
But God does it feel so good,
Cause I got him where I want him right now.
And if you could then you know you would.
It's gonna just feel so...
It just feels so good.

I watched his wildest dreams come true
And not one of them involving you
Just watch my wildest dreams come true
Not one of them involving...

Whoa, I never meant to brag
But I got him where I want him now.

I'm not sure how that makes them suck, I think there one of the better bands of the post-punk 'genre' that we see.

Look at her by the way, you might come round to our side of thinking. But hands off. She's mine.

To be honest i preferred her prior to being ginger. Still would, but i just wish she would return her hair to a decent colour.

I think its that flame hair that gets me going with her.

Anyway just decided to try and do Misery Business on the old guitar, quite easy. But it's a nice strumming pattern, especially on acoustic.

Your girl looks like a ten year old boy, and to whoever said they're post-punk, no they aren't. Most definitely not post-punk. They make pop music. Twilight soundtracks and the like.

I don't invent the genre terms

Nah you just use them incorrectly. Post-punk was around in the 70's and 80's and was used to describe bands like Joy Division, Devo, PIL, etc. Basically it came after punk, and was inspired by punk but was more experimental. Therefore post-punk.

Also used nowadays to describe Paramore, FOB and the like. How can you have post-punk during punk?

It came after the original wave of punk in the early 70's. Granted there has been a post-punk revival but i'd say that it more along the lines of bands like franz ferdinand, interpol, etc. Bands who draw influences from the bands i mentioned above. Paramore (who are FOB?) are pop punk, emo, pop rock, whatever you want to call it. No different to green day, blink 182, and their ilk. To be fair, i've only heard their first album i think, twice. And while being completely bland and inoffensive, it definitely wasn't drawing any inspiration from New Order or PIL.

Paramore (FOB = Fall Out Boy,) Fall Out Boy, Green Day etc share similiar crunching chord progression's to punk, especially bands like the Ramones. Hence Post-Punk.

That shite in the first video in this thread sounds absolutely nothing like the Ramones. Apart from the fact they both play rock music, that is. But that's a very broad church.

"Crunching cord progressions" my arse.

It's all power-chords and not much else, no solo's nothing. Sounds abit like Punk-rock. I said they took inspiration from, not sound like.

Yeah, ok, I take your point.

I have major issues with almost any American attempt at punk, post-Ramones, but that's a discussion for another thread. I fooking haaaaaate Green Day, Blink 182 and their ilk.

I mean, I'm probably being a tad pedantic - I would settle to call Paramore Pop-Punk but that is still therefore Post-Punk whether people see it like that or not, is fair enough. At the end of the day bands like Green Day and Blink 182 do have roots in the Punk Era, like Nirvana and like all the bands El B said. But it has to be remembered just because they take inspiration from different punk bands than those mentioned stills mean they are 'post' punk.

We could just call them all emo and act clever though.

American punk was and still is utter bollocks.

I can see your point, but the genre Post-Punk itself refers to a batch of bands that came along after the original wave of punk. Saying that paramour are Post punk because they take inspiration from punk and because they came after that original wave doesn’t make sense. If your doing that then all music could be referred to as Post Blues. Blues inspired rock, which then inspired punk, metal, etc. But anyways, we could argue in circles about this all day and im feeling too fragile for that. On a separate point a mate of mines reckons punk doesn’t exist anymore. And seeing some of the bullshit on tv or on the radio being referred to as rock or punk he might have a point.

Yeah, but i wouldn't really call Green Day emo. Green Day to me are just pop punk. Trashy, tacky, cheesy, commercialsed pop with a vague essence of punk.
Same with Blink 182, although they are marginally better than Green Day.

Emo music is more shit like Hawthorne Heights and Taking Back Sunday.

Punk hasn't existed for 20 odd years. As soon as British Punk became commercialised it stop being punk.

Yeah you could say that I guess, but it's probably likely due to punk being 'more underground' than say Blues and Rock was at one point. Pedantics could say Post-Classical for every piece of popular music nowadays. It's all abit blurry and basically points to umbrella genres = being bollocks.

No I agree, but critics and the like, like to throw everything under one genre type. Green Day's 'wake me up when september ends' probably went a long way for them to start being called emo. Unless you go underground all forms of so-called Rock or Blues or whatever is watered down and commercialised which when looking at the best albums of the past decade thread - I believe - goes a long way to explain why music has hit a downturn IMO.

... some of the bullshit on tv or on the radio being referred to as rock or punk...

Sorry for going away from the subject, but that really grinds my gears (as Peter Griffin would say). Especially when I hear the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus or even some random hip-hopper or Hollywood socialite being referred to as "rock star".

I know people say this a lot, but Hayley Williams genuinly isn't any more attractive than any number of women you might see on a night out. She's on the pretty side of plain, but that's it.

People talking out of their arse in here.

Green Day are a completely different band now, to what they were in even 2000.

Dookie ('94) is as good a Pop Punk album as you can hope to find.
Anyone using the term 'emo' when referring to Green Day, is on another planet.

Nowadays, they're just a radio friendly rock band.

Paramore are pleasant to listen too, but in reality fairly commercialised tosh, with limited talent.

More improtantly the leader singers fit as feck.
