Buy Khephren Thhuram he’s that good with the ball, big physical presence type that we should have bought instead of Mount. Player like him in the midfield will mean every team not being able to just walk through with so much space

I agree; Kone another shout, but one of those 'informed speculative acquisitions' that despite being a punt on paper is so much more sensible than spending on Mount. Both of the former are also better than Onana at Everton, although I'd also take him as a squad option if we could swap for 2-3 of our outcasts (or should-be outcasts like McT and Harry).

I think the idea was to bring in someone like that as well as Mount and then promote Mainoo. But was dependent on us being able to sell Fred, DVB and Mctominay.

Unless Mctominay goes I think we are priced out of likes of Thuram and Onana.

It’s like, why didn’t we accept 30mill for him if we weren’t going to bother playing him it just makes no sense

I think we just overplayed our hand and didn’t recognise his value. We are terrible at valuing players in terms of buying, selling and how much to pay them so at least we’re consistent.
 


3rd in the league for big chances created but can't put the ball in the net. We need goalscorers.

We are also 4th for number of shots this season behind Brighton Liverpool and Wolves....

There'll be no panic buys unless some of these cnuts who ETH clealry doesn't want just feck off.

There may be a loan or two, probably from Germany or Spain.
 
I'm a bit worried that we won't get anyone else in because we've already spent a lot of money on Højlund, Mount, and Onana. I have a feeling that this will be used as the justification for no further transfers. Not being able to shift some of our hangers-on will also conveniently be used as an excuse not to spend more money.

If we get anyone else in at this point, it's a bonus as far as I'm concerned. I'm expecting this to be it.

Good post. Also demonstrates why we can’t necessarily blame ten Hag. If we’re creating chances on that pace for 2 games then his tactics are working, it’s the players again who are failing to do their job by putting the ball in the net. That Bruno miss against spurs absolutely unacceptable.

Not going to contemplate something so horrible but unfortunately it looks like you are right
 
A capable attacker. I am not fond of any of our current ones

Hojlund - unproven
Antony - erratic and severely one-dimensional
Sancho - yeah, no
Rashford - kick and run
Garnacho - great talent but still not at the level we need
Martial - don't mention the war
 
Think that they were all planning on getting Greenwood back - looks like that’s now not going to happen so they really do have to do something quick.

Compared to McFred he could at least play in an ETG system and he doesn't hide from the ball and has a better engine than both of them.

By the time he started getting minutes Anthony was clearly terrible and Rashfords purple patch was a distant memory.

Roll forward to now. We don't have one problem in our squad - we have 4-5. Signing one missing piece isn't going to fix it. He’s a better option than McT. I'd love Amrabat and hopefully he'll get prioritised and in before the lock but our problems run deeper.

And none of the above do enough work off the ball
 
It'll be a Midfielder, someone that doesn't suit our needs though, similar to the Mount signing.

It's not even funny though, because we need probably 4-5 players really to be competitive. A DM, backup or alternative striker, two wingers who can actually beat a man, and probably a new CB and LB at some point soon.

Edit: forgot to name anyone. I'll say Gravenberch on loan.

Mendy was received with banners and a huge backlash from his own team. There's already opposing fans preparing to do this if Greenwood comes back and I'm pretty sure some fans will do the same. It will be all over the media and it will probably create many problems from sponsors. The news that he was coming back generated enough negativity for them to backtrack immediately, I don't think its happening.
 
We will buy an unknown 15 year old that will be touted as "much sought after by Europe's elite clubs" he will then barely ever be heard of ever again. There will be talk of "investing in youth" at the heart of our strategy in the face of over-inflation of the market place by sinister Saudi forces....unless they offer us £20m for Martial.

Not seen him last year, but before hand he looked very promising and I agree very much with the profile you mention, that is exactly what our midfield needs....

Good on the ball, energy, box to box, strong and physical.

I think the profile Te Hag seemed to be looking for Caqueret was a much better fit than Mount and probably miles cheaper, is more versatile and could have done the Mount role with more physicality and defensive awareness even though he is small.

Thuram and Caqueret I think would be a similar total to the possible and probably Mount and Arambat and the former two for me are better technically, more versatile, fit the profile of what we need more.

I have liked what little i have seen of Arambat, but despite the energy and workrate he seems a deeper player and not really a playmaker, he looks a Casemeiro alternative rather than partner to me....as an alternative I like Mainoo, may develop into the 8 role but I think he offers a different option to Casemeiro though lack of experience a lot to ask him to do that role currently maybe
