Pakistan vs India ODI

Its fecking annoying being stuck in a country with no cricket broadcast. Not even bloody highlights. Would've been fun to watch Dhoni and Yuvraj. I'm just consoling myself thats its only one-dayers.

If i'm still here by the time the England tests start, i'll be really pissed.

Youv missed something. I havent enjoyed cricket this much for ages.. probabily because were winning..lol.. naah but our cricket in this series really was special. Pathan, Sachin, Rp, Yuvraj, Dhoni.. class.

The fight's all gone out of Pakistan. Two tough test series and one tough one-day series with England has taken its toll and you can visibly see the mental tiredness in the Pakistani camp. Yousef has been below par, Inzi hasn't looked remotely interested, Younis Khan has not been his bubbly self and Akmal looks drained.

India deserve their victories, but I'd say it was all too easy for them. The Indians all look refreshed and willing (Tendu, Singh, Dhoni, Pathan, Sree and Singh). Beware though, England have had their break and they are now mentally ready to face you. Doesn't matter how good you are, mental tiredness is mental tiredness.

Anyway, thanks for coming to Pakistan India. You thumped us in the one-dayers yet we got the all important victory in the test series. Both camps will be equally happy (and unhappy) I'd say.

Thats a little unfair. Wev played as much cricket as Pakistan have of late. We just came off two long ODI series' against Lanka and SA, and also a tests series against Lanka.

Imo it has more to do with mental frame of mind. The Indian 'camp' is much more positive and agressive in their thinking. Its reflected in the captains.. Dravid has been every on this tour.. opening when the openers have been out.. playing crutial knocks.. fabulous field placements. Hes proactive.. Inzi just doesnt seem like a leader to me at all, looks half asleep most of the time. Infact Younis Khan seems to be leader on the pitch from what iv noticed. Fielding has also made a big difference, were a lot better in the field.

This apart, personally i feel were ours is a more talented bunch. Thats just my opinion, obviously your others will think differently. IMO our batting line up is much stronger, our batsman are far more established, more technically correct and have better temperament. Everytime the ball moves around a little the Pakistani batsman fail to cope with it.. and that includes the likes of Younis Khan and Yousuf. Whereas during the ten overs that the ball moved around most on this tour, Sachin and Dravid had the technique to play it out.
On flat tracks the Pakistani batting line up is devastating.. but on green tops they struggle.

Even the bowling i feel is pretty even. Imran Khans constant whaling about how good their bowling talent is, is laughable. We have the best spin attack in the world.. and our pace attack though not as quick is improving and getting better and better. In Pathan i personally feel we have the best from both sides.. hes young, hes got the batting technique of a proper batsman, and has this magical ability to swing the ball greatly and almost always picks up early wickets. That too with good controll... which is rare. The other pacersa are bit weak but theyr showing potential.

India's batsmen have been (and were always going to be) the better of the two sides. India's fielders were younger and sharper. But, surprisingly, India's bowlers also proved to be better than their counterparts.

India definitely can handle mental pressure/tiredness better than Pakistan. This doesn't make Pakistan as bad as they were in the one day series (see test performances on same pitches for examples). Like I said, Woolmer needs to work on keeping Pakistan's mental balance right.

And I agree, Inzi should be dropped from playing/captaining one day games. He is not the type of fielder we need, nor the type of non-running batsmen. But that's hardly going to happen in the nepotilistic arena that is Pakistani cricket.

I think Imran should put up or shut up. He would make a world class coach with his knowledge and motivational abilities, but if you don't enter the lottery then you don't win. He should stop criticising those who have taken the bold step of doing the job he runs away from.

We've beaten two better teams in test cricket, something that should be lauded not criticised.

Whoa... I love your enthusiasm but you are living in dreamworld.

First of all our bowling attack sucks, hasn't improved a bit over the years. RP Singh, santh etc. are no better than likes of Zaheer, Nehra, Balaji were two years back. Faces keep changing, that's it. Our only striker bowler is Pathan; Who has not developed as I expected him to, IMHO. I am not sure how we have the best spinning attack in the world; Kumble is finished, Bhajji has done feck all since chucking allegations, that leaves mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Our batting is IMO best in the world in one day cricket but still only Sachin and Dravid can play on seaming and bouncy wickets comfortably. Even Sehwag struggles. Thus, the odd collapse in tests which eventually results in defeat.

I honestly thought in late 2002, that we will topple aussies from the top spot, we came close too given the WC final and series down under but couldn't do it. We are good enough to be a top3 team in the world but not the best.

We have a talented set of bowlers. They would be nutured once we hire a bowlng coach like England.

Laxman, Sehwag and Ganguly had a very good average down under and in the away series against England and SA. Yuvraj, Dhoni and Kaif arent far behind. All we need is to find a opener to partner Sehwag upfront. I dont think any of our current players have problems in playing in bouncy conditions.

That's a good honest summation of your team. India are definitely top three in the world with their squad (something Pakistan is aspiring to) but they are still a way short. The England series will be tough, but it might make men out of your young bowlers...or mice.

I've always said Pathan needs to bring his bowling speed up. India already have the second best batting lineup in the world, they don't NEED Pathan as a batsman. They NEED him as a 85-90 mph bowler who should be taking wickets with pace and aggression on batsmen friendly pitches. Something that would have come in use against Pakistan in the test series.

As I said the previous lot were supposed to be talented as well, every season we have new faces who don't last long or if do remain medicore at best.
Since we stuck with kumble for so long, yound spinners in India haven't really got that chance hence they struggle to make the step up.

Sehwag doesn't play bouncing bowl convincingly at all. He gets some big runs when he just attacks freely and gets away with it. Ganguly is more or less finished. Laxman is a strange one really, I hate him always have but he has somewhat done well away from India. Yuvraj, Dhoni have to prove themselve, I don't rate Kaif that much, far too inconsistent for my liking.

Basically, we have been the the "nearly" team for last 3 years, people always saying one or two things missing, never finished the job.

Don't you just want to punch Amolbattyboy??

I would love to smack him straight on the fecking nose.

I agree that Balaji and Zaheer didnt quite develop the way we needed them to. Zaheer in particular, Balaji was always a one-off, dont know how he came off against Pakistan.

People here in India dont give our bowlers enough credit. Kumble isnt finished, hes still an excellent test bowler and IMO in ODIs he should be picked. Infact hes probably bowling better now than he has at anytime in the last 5 years or so. If the track suits spinners i cant see any side with spinners as good as Kumble and Bhaji. Our pace attack finally has a permanant strike bowler in Pathan, the kid is special.. he just didnt do well on those unbelievably flat tracks in the first two tests, and people claim hes lost it. Hes answered his critics by that magic spell in the 3rd test and a fabulous one day series. His partnering seamers are a worry, but there is talent.. i dont see Pakistan as far ahead. But yes, we are far behind the likes of England when it comes to the pace attack.

You wont find many teams with more than two batsman of Sachin and Dravids class. It would be unnatural for a team to have more. These two are exceptional.. the best of the generation. But Sehwag, even with his technique seems to do well all over.. Dhoni and Pathan havent been tested.. and Laxman is the same everywhere, sometimes brilliant, sometimes ordinary. Yuvraj is batting almost flawlessly right now. So i dont see the reason to complain.

Finally yes, everyone here still whines about the Indian team not continuing THAT challenge to Australia. It WASNT a challenge!! we were a young improving side that was the nearest to Australia out of the lot.. we were never going to challenge a team full of the best players in the world all in the prime of their careers. Now things have changed, Australia are beatable.. the rest are closing the gap.. i didnt say were the best, but the likes of England, India and Pakistan are getting better and closer to putting up a decent challenge.
