PacMan vs Hatton

Totally totally outclassed. The knockout punch was just incredible, I thought he had killed him!!

Time to retire Ricky, there is nowhere else to go now.

just watched the fight.

feck me, 2 ko's in the first round!!

hatton didnt stand a chance!!

Did anyone see mayweather snr's interview after the fight? Pretty much said what everyone on here has said, hatton had no defense.

Well, I thought he'd get snuffed out but like that? Why didn't he keep his hands up? all that talk of hit and move.... Waste.

Did Hatton do anything different than he did against Mayweather. He should take a serious look at the choice of Mayweather snr.Who took the money and ran.The whole preparation was poor.

I hate shit like this. What exactly is funny. If you saw the fight you would have seen a man seriously hurt. Did you laugh when you saw Eduardo break his leg?
It takes more balls and courage to box than most things unlike football once you step between those ropes you're in there by yourself not 10 other men. He got smashed but lets not laugh thats a bit classless

It's not Mayweather's fault that Ricky failed to do the basics. He was so concerned with what he was gonna do to Manny on the inside that he didnt plan on how to get there didn't jab on his way in. tried to steam in and got picked off. Then he committed cardinal sin #1 watch the actual kayo whay was his right hand protecting his throat? He was carrying his hands way to low and his hand were like that for most of the fight

Nothing poor about the preparation, Mayweather snr has possibly prolonged his career for a couple of fights after floyd knocked him out, the fact is it hard to change a mistake that a fighter has been making for the whole of his career before he met maywheather snr.

His lack of head movement has been highlighted for yrs and will always be exposed when he steps up to the mayweather/pac man class.

1.) Yeah he did something different... he ran straight at Pacquiao swinging like a mad man. Basically he didn't wait 8 rounds like he did vs Floyd. He didn't cut off the ring slowly, he didn't dance around, he didn't jump in - throw a few punches - and jump back out. He just went wild.

2.) While I never really liked Floyd Sr as a coach i definitely think he can't be blamed for this, no way would Floyd Sr teach him to attack so gungho like that. It seems like the rumors of a falling out between them were spot on, Ricky completely disregarded his trainer and went out there and fought his own game. And got owned.

I think I heard Floyd Sr say in between rounds something to the effect of "you should have listened to me from day one". He also told him to use more head movement which Ricky didn't seem to listen either.

any Pacquaio doubters out there now?

Hatton got beat up big time unfortunatly Pacquiao destroyed him and when he was down at the end i started fearing the worst for him. Hatton should retire now. Also i thought Pacquiao was one of the nicest boxers you'll meet and i hope he beats the feck out of Mayweather jnr.

Don't no, but I think the PacMan will win! He is literally a legend in the Philippines, and is like the one sporting success they have. Having said that the Philippines love Boxing, huge sport there.

Nice to know I predicted this right! Hatton didn't have a chance. PacMan is just immense.

I always felt he should have called it a day after the Mayweather fight.
I feared a couple of defeats could quickly come and take the shine off a really great Career.
But what a exciting fighter, and a great career hes had. All the way back from his early ITV days hes always been great to watch.. and some amazing body shot memories he has left us with.
He also has been a great guy, very down to earth and always aprochable.
Last night was very sad to see such a demise of such a wonderful fighter.
Seems many people are quick to knock him, and start pulling apart his skill as a fighter and judging from the news coverage even his character.
Boxing can be very cruel, and everytime fighters step into the ring they really do lay everything on the line.
Pacquiao is a fantastic boxer, with a stupid amount of skill and hand speed
and i doubt many people could have coped with that performance last night.

Pretty gutted for Hatton, took some really nasty shots so hope hes ok. His defense is just terrible, hes always leaving himself wide open and you can't do that against someone like Pacquiao.

As far as I can remember I don't think Hatton ever fought on ITV or any terrestrial tv network, which is a real shame looking back.

I have re-watched the fight again and I just can't figure out what gameplan he was thinking going in, Floyd in the corner basically asked him what was he doing. He went flying in like a man possesed and Pac just picked him off and then that devestating shot that Hatton did not even see coming, his hands were way down, its actually a pathetic display considering the guy was 47-1 going in. I blamed it abit on Floyd sr last night but looking back I just don't think Ricky changed one bit.

I'm not.

I paid £15 for my son (who boxes) to watch a beer fueled crap boxer show my country up.

pac man outclassed rick there. Would love to see hatton actually go into one of these big fights and stick to a tactical game plan, seems like he is throwing these fights away with his lack of ability to use his brain when it matters and not just his fists.

He has got a lot to learn but its too late for him now

Cant wait to see Pac man vs punk bitch mayweather

Still tired after staying up till 5am to watch it.

I think Hatton really let himself down - we went in there with no defence at all.

What the f*ck have he and Floyd Mayweather Sr been working on?

Freddy Roach got it right when he said "Ricky will come in and revert to type." Manny picked him off and make him look a fool.

Feel for Ricky as i think he will know he has let himself and his fans down. But i just dont think he has or had what it tooks to mix it with the very very best.

Kostya Tszyu was the peak for Ricky. The Collazo and Castillo fights were good too. But i dont think any of these guys were in the same league as Pacquiao and Mayweather.

To be fair, we're talking about all time greats there. No shame in losing to those two. Ricky's done well for himself but as you said just didn't have the quality to match the absolute cream. Must say, he looked so dejected sitting there on his stool at the end the first round. Knew the writing was on the wall. But credit to Manny. I ust hope he gets it on with Mayweather jnr.

Quite gutted about that, but not as disappointing as when he was beaten by Mayweather due to also being a Pacquiao fan and him being likeable guy as well, but the way he lost was pretty humiliating, like Mayweather Pacquiao was and is clearly a step of class above, but Hatton’s tactics was shocking. Mentally he seems unfocused not being able to follow basic tactics and stick to a game plan, he seemed amateurish.

Though what I found most bemusing about the whole fight was the pound for pound status being thrown about and Hatton was constantly drumming on about.
How on earth can he claim to be the pound for pound king by beating a fighter whom has been campaigning at 130 or below for most of his career?

However for fight fans the result was the right one and has setup the fight everyone would like to see, Pacquiao vs Mayweather.
As for Hatton, everyone is calling for him to retire, I don’t think he will leave like this, I reckon he will have a farewell fight back in England, perhaps against Marquez were he to lose to Mayweather, maybe De La Hoya or even a fight against Witter might finally happen.

No shame at all. In 10 years time, Mayweather and Pacquiao will go down as two of the finest ever to grace then ring.

It’s just the manor of the defeat against Pacquiao which was disappointing. Against Mayweather, at least Ricky gave a decent account of himself and he had the excuse that he was fighting at welterweight and the ref didn’t let him get inside.

I don’t think Ricky truly thought he could win the Pacquiao fight.

Why not?

If Hatton decides against retirement this would be by far the most lucrative option available. Both of them would fancy their chances and the fight would be a huge event in the UK.

Freddie Roach talked about the possibility of this fight happening about a week ago, predicting that Pac would knock Hatton out and that a Khan fight might make sense if/when that happens (which obviously it did last night).

I don't think it's all that unlikely... especially if Khan loses to Kotelnik, which'll limit the options available to him.

If Khan applies himself then Freddie Roach can make him do great things, he has the attributes but just doesnt quite have the chin but there have been loads of fighters who did not have chins.

Hatton vs Khan would be a great british event but I think the likelyhood is Hatton will take his fortune and retire, I dont think he will want to put his family through it again. In fact if he continues to fight history tends to show when you get slaugthered like that then you have probably peaked and its down hill from there, he doesnt need the money, hang up the gloves Ricky.

Aye, it would be sensible for him to call it a day now... losses against p4p kings is one thing, but losing to Khan would really damage his legacy.

Khan has serious potential if it's harnessed in the right way, and with Roach as a trainer, he's probably in the right hands. At the moment, however, he's an unproven fighter with a notoriously weak chin.

I just can't see Hatton calling it a day after a defeat like that, tho'. He feels like he's let everyone down and I doubt he'll wanna hang up his gloves without trying to redeem himself. If he decides to carry on fighting, it won't be a financially-motivated decision.

What's all this shite, 'it's embarrassing, it's embarrassing', 'Hatton is a joke' etc, he got beaten by an absolutely special boxer, one who has destroyed all his most recent opposition and hammered Oscar De La Hoya, a boxing legend who in his prime would have soundly beaten an in-his-prime Ricky Hatton all ends up.
Unfortunately, Hatton whilst a great boxer, was simply not good enough for Pacquiao who is fastly becoming an all-time legend, if not already........

I totally agree with you. He was all class. In his post fight interview, I was very impressed with the man. Plus , I thought his trainer did a good interview after the fight. Ricky Hatton couldn't change. After watching some the prefight talk on Setanta, I thought Hatton could make a fight of it. Boy was I shocked! No defence at all.
