For me it's the Halo series. I never did get what everyone loved about it.

Halo 1 was good but then it was the just the same shite, different year in my opinion.

What's your Overrated Gaming Franchise?

GTA. First one was good, second was great, but from there on out it's been more shit every game.

Not really, I just can't come up with any right now.

The Call of Duty games except Call of Duty 4 which I thought was a great game.

Overall, Arkham City & Black Ops are the most overrated games I have played.

Gears of War. To me it's like Halo. Doesn't do anything for me and I could never get into it.

Nothing like Halo, for a start it's a 3rd person cover-and-shoot style game. But yeah it's still aliens and all that shizzle.

Gears of War for me too. That said, I have borrowed the third from my brother. May as well complete the trilogy. It is way at the back of the queue, though.

No I don't mean it's like Halo, I mean for me it has the same effect on me that Halo did. Not much.

Ah right fair enough :)

I don't mind Gears of War, it's a good meaty, no brainer shooter when I'm bored. Funnily enough I recently rented GOW2 from Lovefilm because I never played it before and I'm enjoying it so far.

FIFA, got my 1st ever FIFA this year, havent played it in over a month

Dont understand the Halo but especially the Gears hate. Brilliant games. Gears 3 is my favourite game so far this year

Werewolf. The first one seemed exciting, but now it's degenerated to spin-offs like Werewolf Game number 462: The School Toilets etc etc. Also, it keeps people away from my numerous boring posts about big scary ghosts and second-hand books from Amazon.

FIFA, too.

Call of Duty
Gears of War

Never played beyond an hour of the first one of both of them.

I never played beyond an hour of Fallout 3, left it on the shelf for well over a year as I didnt like it at all. Then one day I gave it another chance and its one of my all time favourites

I did the same with Bioshock too

The genre, the plot and the story sadly never roused my interest enough to give it another try. Fair play to people who like it. Just not the thing for me.

What do you call that shit that dummies play for so long they starve to death? World of Warcraft? Yeah, never got that one.

Halo

WoW
Call Of Duty
Super Mario

Final Fantasy

The Castlevania games. Everyone seems to love them but they never floated my boat.

Super Mario
Zelda

Call of Duty (Was fun playing the same game the first time, beyond that...not so sure)
Halo (shooting rainbow aliens with plastic fisher price toy guns, I'll pass)
Final Fantasy (JRPGs )
GTA (IV was a disappointment, have taken more of a liking to the Saints Row series)
Gears of War (Its a decent enough game, just don't understand the excessive praise)
Zelda (Don't think I've enjoyed any of them)

Oh and Warcraft was legendary at one point, I don't like the direction the game is going but its still awesome sauce :nono:

I think Zelda is a pretty cool guy, eh kills monsters and doesnt afraid of anything.

So basically everything then. Well done everyone.

GTA - It was great at first but it's been boring since the first or second 3D one. Also that awful game with the horses that everyone insisted was the best thing ever, but that was actually just GTA without any cars. I shot a bird, I got bored, I didn't play it again.

Fifa - Unacceptably dumb and generic AI. Play the exact same passing move I played the last 500 times shall I?...er, yes, because all my players are making the exact same runs again so I don't have a choice.

Halo.

Gears which probably did the most successful 3rdperson/1st person hybrid , had a fanbase which grew exponentially with every successive title. Excellent trilogy IMO.

Any FPS multiplayer really, 10 minute matches against random people which should in theory be different everytime but actually turn out to be exactly the fecking same. they're fun for a little while but how/why millions of people spend hours everyday of their lives doing this i'll never know

WOW is all consuming when you're in it, i did a year on it and thought it was the greatest thing ever, since coming off it and getting back into playing lots of different games i look back and realise its total horseshit and over all incredibly boring

I haven't played a decent football game in about 6 years

Did the exact same thing with Fallout 3.

Got it with my Xbox, gave it a try got bored.

Came back to it a year later when I was bored with my current games and didn't look back.

Totally gripping game.

I find most of the overrated games are the ones that are marketed excessively. This seems to create hype and people start buying them in the millions.

Call of Duty - Unbelievably overate. Can't fathom how so many 5 year old will waste 14 hours a day on this. Exactly the same game released year in year out.

Gears of War - Agree with what others have said, very overrated for what it is.

Fifa - Although this is the game that stays in my Xbox and doesn't get changed, it is still a very overrated game, considering the hype and plaudits it gets. It is without a doubt the best football simulation out there and possibly of all time, yet it still leaves a lot to be desired. However, how close to real football can a game actually get.

I didn't really like either Fallouts, never played earlier ones....but I still don't think it's overrated, just wasn't for my liking at all. Watching friends at later stages seemed a bit awesome, but I just kinda get bored. Weirder still, is that I love(d) Morrowind and Oblivion, we'll see if this boredom is just an age thing with Skyrim or just exclusive to Fallout.

The later CODs have clearly been overrated, because so many have fell for the hype, they are't a patch on COD4 or the first few, but money + hollywood story + everyone just playing them just because = overration. Mind you, both Blops and MW2 were fun games, just glitchy and broke as hell, WaW was well....pretty bad on the whole, which is why everyone mostly went back to COD4 -_-
