I think it's more a case of if we go for him on loan and he proves himself then it gives us a dilemma for next summer.

Personally though I have always been of the opinion that we won't get Jadon next summer due to many suitors.
 
Dembele already refused to go to Liverpool as he wanted to stay at Barca. He’s not suddenly going to change his mind to come to us. He actually has a decent chance of getting in the Barca team this year if he stays fit. Smokescreen.
 
I suppose it makes sense, if we loan him it saves us money to then make other signings this window, hopefully get Sancho next year although there will be strong competition for him.

I dunno, for the wide positions at Barca he's behind Messi, Fati, arguably Trincao and if they bring in Memphis as rumoured either Memphis or Griezmann.
 
If we didn't get Sancho this year but did get Dembele next year for a lot less, after another year of underperformance for Barca, I'd be happy enough. Huge potential in a team that allows him to be an individual focal point.

Agreed. If we can’t get Sancho, it’s Dembele or bust for me. Don’t want anything to do with the likes of Sarr or Brooks. Edit: just seen you want Dembele next year? I don’t think that sounds right.

I could probably warm to a Perisic loan (and just that). But I just know that if he did half decent we’d sign him on a permanent for 2-3 years at the age of 32.
 
Demebele will be fine with me!! Heavily talented and young. I do think we can forget about Sancho if we don’t get him this summer. So we best put an option to buy on this deal.
 
I don’t mind buying a Jovic or someone like that who has “flopped” at another big team and could find his feet here, when we really only need a back-up. Dembele also has his whole career ahead of him. However, he just can’t stay fit so what use is that?

Yeah I would happily take him and despite concerns think he still has time to get over these injury problems

Beggars can't be choosers. No matter what we want to think we were always a weak draw for top European players even at our peak and we're so much weaker now. They need to be desperate to leave, keen to come to England, have no London options, and happy to put up with our haggling. I don't get the impression Dembele's in that position now, another year of failure might do that.

Most likely smokescreen but we do have Pogba and Martial that might matter for his decision to come here.
 
we'll get him in, cool our Sancho interest, play 5 games and be out for the season. Lots of instagram photos of him at home playing on his xbox.

The brief is they'll sell for ~50m.

He’s still young still faster than Sancho(Just an example) so if he can get over his injuries would be a coupe when we look back in a few years.

I agree with the general sentiment of your post, but I think there’s more nuance for Dembele at Barcelona. Fati started the season on fire and there’s already (basically) a smear campaign on Dembele with the Catalan media who really dislike him. Depay is also top of Koeman’s wishlist and I think if anyone’s making way for him, it’s definitely the Ous. The fresh environment this year with the likes of Pogba and Martial around him will do him a world of good to ensure he makes the Euros squad for 2021.

Trouble is he will always be remembered as the guy who missed the chance to make it 4-0 against the scousers

Ok sure but what about this season. We really should try and get him this season. Else a precious year is lost in development of the team.
 
So we spent the entire summer doing nothing only to end up with a crock whose got a shit attitude? Jeez. Let's sign Amad Troure instead. He is raw as can be but at least he has the will to do well and the body to reach his dreams
