Ousmane Dembele

Why is this getting a bump? No chance he leaves Barca for us. He likely goes to PSG, Juve or stays at Barca.

What happened in the Barca game? Just turned over and there’s an ambulance on the pitch.

I tend to believe he probably wants to work with Tuchel again. However other than money there is no other reason to leave Barcelona. Xavi trust him and play him almost every game.

Agreed, I could understand the situation a year or two ago when it was rumoured that he believed that Barcelona wasn't the right place for him but Xavi did lie, he said that he had a plan for him, that he was a key player and it's exactly what happened even after Laporta's comments.

Two assists so far today, including a great first one. The guy is an elite player, and exactly the type of player we should be targeting, but too many fans think he's got attitude problems or is the next Pogba despite probably barely even watching him. No doubt our useless scouts will be of the same opinion.

I watched Sancho a lot prior to him signing and he's everything Sancho is not. Fast, dynamic, two footed, can actually play RW..

In fact I don't think I've ever seen a player so good with two feet as him.

There’s a chance for us to be really clever this summer and bring in Mazraoui, Kamara, Tchouameni and Dembele for a combined £60 million.

It's the sort of deals we should be targeting, wouldn't be as cheap as that but you could get Bissouma, Dembele and another for around £70m that would transform our team. Instead we'll be signing some next badly scouted crap as we always do and in positions where we don't need players. Saw us linked with a LB for £25m today. The mind boggles

The boy is crazy talented. The hype that Mbappe gets should actually be reserved for Dembele, when fit there are only a handful of players (Maybe only 3 or 4..) that should be considered as better.

Don't bee fooled by him, the moment he signs that contract he's going to immediately bugger of to the medical ward.

I wouldn't be so sure, Xavi got rid of most of their old medical staff not long after he was hired towards the end of last year.

Their injury record as a squad has been much improved since the overhaul and Dembele has been one of the biggest winners from the change.

Including Mbappe.

Is it a risk worth taking?
The guy would be on massive wages over here.
Personally I feel it's not worth it.

I’ve been against this in the past but considering how many weak positions we have I’d be all for this now. He’s got the ability to carry the ball with pace we lack badly.

For his talent level it could be given he'd provide that bit of stardust, something we haven't had in a very long time, at RW.

We could afford his wages but it'd be a question of whether we could get him playing at the level he's capable of in a new league. Under our new structured and attack oriented manager I believe that we could.

I also believe that his motivation, at least at the start, wouldn't be in question given that it's a world cup year and he'll want to book his place to Qatar with the already fierce competition in attack for France. He'll want to impress if he wants to be a starter

Tuchel said he’s the best player individually he’s ever coached in terms of raw skills and he obviously coached Mbappe and Neymar as well. Issue is fitness as you say, there was a stat recently that since his move he’s only been available for 50% of Barca’s games, that’s not even match fit simply available.

I would be extremely surprise if his agent has yet sort out his next club by now. All these free transfer players including Pogba have almost a year to talk to potential clubs they prefer to join.

I have to disagree with you here, I just think hes exactly the type of signing we must avoid during a rebuild as the risk in my humble opinion far outweighs the reward.

I'm not doubting his talent but Sancho too was supremely talented, im not expecting him to come here and immediately make an improvement (assuming that he won't be perennially crippled) and the wages that we probably have to provide to him to come here won't reflect that, we'll be paying salah wages and not getting a salah level player(ot would be more actually but I couldn't find another example).

I feel we would be better off playing it safe for the foreseeable future and spend our money more wisely, preferably avoiding risky signings.

Also he had that racism accident, his attitude is rather concerning so I genuinely don't want another trouble maker in the locker room and we already have too many of them.

Ive always really liked him. I would definitely take him as I think he’d be a brilliant signing on a free and finally a cure to our right side problem.

All this means then…zero chance we will sign him.

To be honest his injury record has always been a slight worry but more importantly right now is I don’t think he’d even entertain joining our shit show unless it was just for the money.

So he has a reputation for being immature and unprofessional, has a dodgy injury record at a young age, you don’t think he’d want to be here, and you’d still want him here as a mercenary on a bloated salary?

I guess James in your case does not mean Daniel James, at least.

He's quick which provides balance on the other side since Sancho is not quick. He can cross which benefits Ronaldo and potentially for our target summer signing Nunez. He can dribble unlike Rashford. Sounds like no brainer for free signing.

Problem is that he's an injury prone. If he's an injury prone in LaLiga then he will likely get more injury in the more physical demand league like PL. And I'm feeling a Martial's mentality vibe from him.

Free signing with high wages is still creating problem if end up not working in here. Not gonna lie, I never want him to come here before but as he's a free signing now, there little bit of me wanting him here.

Since it seems things are finally looking good for him at Barcelona under Xavi, it would probably be wise for him to just stay there. Althugh I could imagine PSG might try to sign him as the replacement for Mbappe, which could work out but hard to say if that's the right environment for him given they've kind of struggled in many ways to build a cohesive unit since Tuchel left.
Moving to Chelsea would be another option given he's played under Tuchel and they might try to replace a number of players, but then again in the formation they've played under Tuchel so far doesn't really have an ideal position for him. If Tuchel chooses to consist with that formation I think Nkunku would make a lot more sense in a Havertz, Mount front three. But obviously Tuchel would know how to use him if they went for him, so that's a bit of a moot point. And if anything it's their attacking play that has stopped them from achieving more so far, so it's not out of the question they might make some tactical adjustments.

Doubt Bayern would go for him, but you never know, not unusual for them to sign ex Bundesliga players who impressed in the past. Liverpool? No idea, doesn't really seem necessary unless they lose Mane/Salah. United why not? Could fit into Ten Hag's system, but I don't think it'll happen. I imagine he'd prefer to bring Antony with him to Manchester, as he's a known quantity to him, and he'd probably fulfil the same role a hypothetical Dembele signing would.

I reckon Xavi will convince him to stay.

Crearly we can't offer as much money as other clubs can. But the guy feels comfortable in the team so lets see what he prioritizes more.

The reason I want Dembele is because of Sancho.

Sancho is a creative LW and we don't have a single creative RW when Mata leaves.

This is going to be very important to a more traditional striker that needs creativity from out wide. Demebele is also left footed which we need in the squad in places like RW much more.

I'm sorry to mention the other guys names but players like Rashford and Greenw**d are more inverted forwards; needing a more false 9 type striker instead to get the best out of them. If they are here next season or not is a different story.

It's why I feel Demebele will balance our squad up a bit with different styled players.

Sancho------trad no 9----Dembele
(Rashford)-----(false9)-----(Greew**d)

4 wingers of 2 different kind.

2 strikers of 2 different kind.

Nah man. I'm a huge dembele fan, but mbappe is on a completely different planet. He's pure chaos.

Someone here said yesterday that his decision making has not improved, the two assists yesterday say otherwise. The assist to Memphis was probably the best example, ran up the wing, no stepovers, no dummies, no shoulder drop, just waited for support and played a square ball, he's really ironed out the unnecessary stuff out of his game.

I wouldn't mind getting him tbh, he's an exceptional dribbler and now his passing has improved a lot. 13 assists in 20 league appearances.
For context, Benzema was top assist in La Liga till yesterday, 11 in 30 appearances.

Just to let you know if you might not know yet but Dembele is either footed. He can use both of his feet equally good. Pretty sure he had took penalty with either foot.

Yeah I do but still having a player that can use his left foot with pace on the RW is important without players like Mata and potential Greenwood.

He'd be a very poor mbappe replacement. Mbappe thrives by getting in behind and finishing chances. Dembele is mainly a creative player who does his damage by supplying crosses and dribbling to the byline. They'd actually compliment each other very well tbh.

Talking about that I feel like france's front three is gonna be absolutely lit. Mbappe-Benzema-dembele. That's just ridiculous.

Regarding where he should play next season, I think he'd be very Ill advised to leave now. Things are finally looking up for him and he has a manager that knows how to use him and keep him fit. The french league is very physical although he has played there previously. But going there also comes with giving up the lime light so he has that to consider as well.

I wonder if Dembele might be thinking about Messi holding him back at PSG like could have happened a bit at Barcelona.

However he is also being talked about like a player who doesn't really care too much either, so who knows.

Dembouz is the one just for how much of a demon he is on isolations against fullback. The very top player for progressive carries and 99th percentile for dribbles completed. That alone would add so much to our very stagnant attack.

I do have a feeling we sounded him out after the whole Greenwood debacle. There were a lot of rumours in the summer, so I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up here.

Messi didn't hold dembele back. His injuries and decision making held him back. Xavi seems to have fixed or at least improved both of these. We'll see if he goes to PSG, him and hakimi on the same flank would be fire.

We already have some immature and unprofessional players with dodgy injury records. At least this one has the actual talent to back it up.

No, I didn’t say I would want him as a mercenary! I feel it is the only way he would come to us is as a mercenary- not for football reasons…but if he wanted to come on a fair salary and to be part of a rebuild then yes I certainly would. I don’t want another Sanchez or Di Maria situation.

I love watching him play but he has one league goal this season. You cannot be a wide attacker in a top team and only score 1 goal, that is terrible.

This is such an obvious mistake if we do go down this path. I feel like it would be more of a club decision than manager decision.

Exactly the type of signing we should be avoiding.

100. Injuries are the only thing that can stop him from greatness. I still feel like he needs to add goals and improve his finishing to go to an even higher level and separate himself from the others but the rest of his game is already elite even without it.

13 assists since the turn of the year despite missing 16 games at the start. If he was fit you could have been looking at a 25 assists season.

It’s true we already have some immaturity and unprofessionalism in the squad, which in itself to me is a reason to be careful about bringing in another one.

I only know headline stuff about Dembele, so maybe the scouts know more, but if you are right about him only coming to United for the money, then that would make him a kind of mercenary, wouldn’t it?

What do I know, maybe he has grown up, maybe he’s up for a fight and able to play an aggressive pressing role that he’d need to if we’re not going to revert to the counter-oriented ways of Mourinho and Solskjær. I haven’t seen much evidence of this so far, though, so I’m not going to advocate it.
