I will stop watching Utd if we take him in. That shows zero capacity of learning from previous mistakes.
 
Saw a tweet from Hadrian grenier that mentioned dembele and psg, but didn’t understand it since it was in French. Can anyone of the French guys here translate that?

Unpopular opinion but a short term deal could work out. We are looking a little short on the right now. There isn't much risk in a 6 month deal

Agreed. He is a player that runs past people for fun. Needs a little work with his end product but he is a very exciting player. It's only his poor injury record that plants the seed of doubt.

As I said, there is little risk in a short term deal.

Hard to know how good he is when he has hardly played due to injuries. In all seriousness, this is not the area of the squad that needs the most immediate attention. We need a midfielder.
 
We're not going to be interested in someone like Dembele - he is the absolute antithesis of the player you need to dig you out of a crisis - lazy and injury prone.

Pochettino must be the pope being able to handle all those ego in the dressing room. Surprised we have not tried to steal this deal after the event that transpired today. Even though he isn’t the type of player we should be signing, he can still be a temporary fix for a team that is losing one of their main attackers.

He just mentioned we've been in contact with Dembele's agent.

He's very reliable for French players. Whether we are just inquiring or we're genuinely interested is another thing, but if he said we've contacted his agent we have.

Ah my French is a little bit rough. I didn’t catch that part. I only saw that a verbal agreement has been made with psg. Overlooked the top portions of the tweet

He's a guy who has done a grand sum total of fcuk all in 6 years and people think he could come to Utd and do a job for 6 months.

Like Martial, he's nothing special just another over rated Bellion.

Romano has responded directly to that story and re-affirmed his position that there's absolutely nothing in this Dembele to United story.

We'll see which way it pans out, but I'd like to think the club has learned its lesson in regards to these types of deal.

The only way I can see us signing Dembele is some form of emergency loan.

I completely agree. I don't think we're interested in anything other than that which is why I don't think the deal will happen.

It's quite probable that we approached his agent after the Greenwood news and found out Barca want a permanent transfer so we pulled out. I think it's highly unlikely we actually sign him and quite rightly so.
 
we tried to sign dembele last year before, wouldn’t surprise me if we did in fact go for him again? especially now with the greenwood situation

L'Equipe and RMC claiming that Barca approached PSG and PSG said no, they wont buy anyone else this winter window. I think he will stay or end up on a surprise loan somewhere
 
Obviously he's been a mess but he does have the talent no doubt in my mind. Sancho(Elanga)-Cristiano(Rashford)-Dembele(Amad) really should be quite good with a quality midfield, and then obviously replace Cristiano with another out and out goalscorer to capitalize on the wide men's good playmaking.

If we do this, I think getting Haaland becomes even more crucial, since Dembele's best work is as a wide player and he's probably not physical enough to score more than 15 a year but he has a better chance of double digit assists than most top wingers. It's possible David or even Richarlison or Schick could hit 20+ goals with Sancho, Amad and Dembele being closer to 10s than 9s and looking to create as much as go themselves instead of just scoring themselves like wing forward types, and Bruno of course.

Luis Diaz looks like another Salah/Mane (with them selling one of those in the summer) with none of the questions Dembele has, so I feel like if we get Dembele and Liverpool getting Diaz and City a #9 who isn't Haaland and Chelsea someone who actually has chemistry with Lukaku this summer then you'd bet on this hurting us relative to our rivals, but the club obviously know a lot more about Dembele and his dribbling and 2-footedness are obvious and impressive when you watch him, so I'll be optimistic. Don't love the racist remarks against Asian people though. Why do I care about a football club and not just enjoy gambling and watching games?

He's as tough a 1 on 1 cover for a fullback as a Mahrez type. A significantly better Nani.

Gotta say, pretty relieved to read that if true. Was a nonsense move, but it's PSG so made total sense.

Makes no sense going after this guy, should of just kept diallo and sign a midfielder with the money. Why do we always throw money away?!

Oh God, I hope this doesn't come off. Even with Greenwood out of the picture. It just ticks all the wrong boxes.
 
Seems like it's all just Barca trying to drum up interest. I'd rather continue with what we have than sign him.

Footmercato is an aggregator, they are not reliable at all. It's one of the worst source you could find outside of a random post on twitter, reddit or the caf.
