Our window isn’t the great success many claim

I agree entirely.

I've major concerns about scoring enough goals, and think it's wild that we are relying on a 20yr old Hojlund to fix this.

Mount didn't address the issues of our midfield. If he had come in addition to someone it'd of been fine, but I'm not convinced Casemiro/Mount/Bruno will work.

Even more evidence of this after the Spurs game. Very concerned.

Agreed. Not every transfer is going to be successful, and that's fine. But we need to recognize that and move on from our mistakes quickly instead of blindly clinging to hope that one day they'll come good.
We say this every summer but hopefully we're finally realising this by moving on the likes of Fred and VDB while trying to move on the likes of Maguire and Martial. I'd still like to see us make a statement by shipping someone like Sancho for a better player. Just be ruthless

When will our club actually learn from mistakes of holding onto players for too long and plan ahead by identifying an upgrade and moving on players whilst there is value on them?

If mount doesn't show anything this season I hope we don't cling to him for 4 years and then lose him for 10 million, sell him next summer when we can still get 40 million for him, Same with sancho who has two seasons and done nothing and his time at dortmund is becoming a distant memory and his value is just going to plummet, I'm sure some club would be willing to spend 40-50 million on him thinking they can get the sancho of dortmund out him much like arsenal did with havertz.

Same with our youth players, if they have good season somewhere move them on unless the manager feel they are going to be something special like garnacho.

Why are we still holding to mctominay, he is clearly not trusted as first 11 player so why keep him when even eriksen is ahead of him?

Maguire show have gone in eth first season, he clearly wanted varane and martinez and had a preference for a left footed player to step in when martinez was not available so why keep Maguire when we had lindelof or we should have just sold one of the two out of lindelof and Maguire.

It's just constant dithering with this club in the transfer market

The only club that would pay that is us.

The money for Mount went towards Caciedo and so massively improved Chelsea squad whilst the "need" to now make Mount work in the first 11 has massively weakened us.

Onana is a really good signing. Mount seemed odd at the time and hasn’t seemed particularly impressive yet. Hojlund…who knows as we got him injured.

We’ve cleared a few players but would have been hugely beneficial to move on Maguire, Henderson and McTominay.

It’s definitely not a roaring success.

I thought we brought in big rep analysts and whatnot? Are they being listened to?

A box to box midfielder and another striker could turn our window around, I doubt both will happen though and if they do we have once again waited until things become desperate.

Biggest issue is we are so bad at getting players out the club... Henderson, Maguire, Mctominay, Martial, Williams have no business still being at the club.

Add Sancho to that list. Two years of consistent underperformance wouldn't be tolerated at any other top club. Most clubs would be in the process of looking to move them on after just one year of performances like that. It wasn't like he even had the odd game he took by the scruff of the neck. Genuinely can't remember a whole 90 minutes where he performed at a top level throughout. That's insane.

He can't be worse than the other options we have up front bar Martial who's never fit
Agree there. Martial is a net negative overall as he’s never fit anyways and steals a wage.

The fact he’s still at the club after tanking in Sevilla too amazes me. They found him out so fast.

Remember when United was synonymous with at least a team who could score goals?

Most of my life we always had great attacking players. Van Persie, Rooney, Nani and Valencia in the later Fergie era compared to what we have now…

Back then that was classed as a decent but not amazing United attack but is leagues ahead of this team.

How you are not banned is beyond me.

I back a manager because I want them to do well, just like I'll back EtH, I don't back then because I want to be proved right or I want an accolade on an internet forum.
I'll leave that to rather sad and lacklustre individuals such as yourself.

Or did you back Poch when he failed at PSG for similar reasons? :wenger:

How you are not still in the noob section is beyond me. You should back the club rather than a manager. I saw that Ole wasn't good for the club and I said that he isn't the one despite poster like you saying that he is. I was proven right and I prefer the path we are going under ETH so far. However, we started off this season slowly and I hoping to see some improvement before I make a judgement call on what is best for the club.

Also, no manager has succeeded at psg. Pochettino and tuchel has been the closest to achieving their main objectives

Lets keep calm boys - we have ten days left.

I cant imagine we are done in the window, especially after the last two results.

We will find a way to get rid of some of the deadwood and bring in a new midfielder, at least.

It’s mighty disappointing that we’re going into the upcoming forest game with a new keeper and that’s it.

another colossal feck up of a window.

Strange take. Why does the Forrest game matter specifically?

We signed Onana, Mount, Hojlund and all of them will feature eventually.

4/10 so far and descending into something of a scattergun ending, Gravenberch, Amrabat, amongst others...

It's because it's the third game of the season and only one of our signings is available, as the other two are injured. Basically means the starting 11 is very similar to the one from last season.

Out of curiosity, I checked out lineup from last season in this game:

De Gea

Malacia
Varane
Shaw
Wan-Bissaka

Casemiro
Eriksen
Bruno

Rashford
Martial
Antony

Can't remember why exactly Martinez didn't feature in this one. Additional rest after the World Cup, I think?

 this is elite trolling.

Nobody in their right mind ever should've thought that signing Mount and Hojlund was a great success. The former is a decent player who plays a position that we didn't need, the latter an unproven kid.

Onana was a great signing but goalkeeper was way down the list in terms of things we needed that were going to directly contribute to winning more matches and with limited funds available the position never should have been prioritized this window.

I only hope the powers that be recognize how badly they've conducted business this summer and try to salvage it by signing an actual center-mid or two and someone who can score some goals before the window closes.

So the crap players who have underperformed time and time again are now also the reason we can’t replace said players because they won’t leave

You have to laugh at just how badly run this club is. Maguire and McT like nah feck it I’m staying and there’s nothing the club will do apart from still pick them in the match day squad

Absolute farce

Getting rid of Maguire and McTom wouldn’t be a problem if the owners gave a shit. They would of been moved on this summer easily with a new owner willing to take a hit.

But imagine the scenario at Chelsea in 2-3 seasons with them all on 8 year contracts.

Could be a nightmare.

Very poor window as we look at it right now.

I expect unprofessional scrambling by the club over the next 9 days to find a midfielder and striker (could even be loan signings). I thought with Arnold and ETH at the helm, those days were over but clearly not.

We need proven goals in this team asap.

I just don't get why people thought it was a success in the first place. Bar the GK position, we still hadn't properly addressed our big problems.

We didn't get a press resistant midfielder capable of controlling a game. We got another 10 who isn't as good as our starting one. Ideally, we needed two CMs but we'll be lucky to get one now.

We didn't get in an established CF. We got a young prospect in who could go either way.

We didn't get a wide player capable of beating his man whilst being a goal threat himself.

All in all, like his previous two windows, it's a disappointment and a lot more money wasted.

Previous 2 windows ? what the winter one ? where he was given 3 bag of crisps to spend ?

Yes. Weghorst and Sabitzer weren't the only players we could've got on loan. They follow the trend started in the summer of poor transfer strategy that's rearing its ugly head here again now.

I'll take a bet that we won't scramble for any new signings this summer unless we manage to shift one of our existing mids. The plan was clear and will be followed. Sure we could make a deadline day signing of Amrabat depending on how things go with McT and likewise we could buy a CB if Maguire leaves but unless one of those things happens, there will be no scrambling.

Obviously didn't read what I put, I know words are slightly beyond your comprehension but that's understandable I guess given your apparent mental age.

it’s match day 3 and we’ve essentially gone into this season with the exact same squad even though many positions needed improving, in fact I’d argue it’s weaker now.

Im surprised I have not seeing a big thread on our scouting system, it has taken a huge nose dive since fergie left, the last gem we got was chicarito.

It's definitely a problem as we barely ever successfully recruit from South America, Asia and Africa with our scouting, hell we can't even scout high profile internationals correctly

It will be, if the signings don't pan out. I think they've bought relatively well, although in the long term, who knows.

United's obvious problem is buying (or handing out big contracts) to players who aren't good enough. Recruitment has been a disaster for the last decade.

I'm not sure that under Ten Hag it's dramatically improved.

Hard to argue with any of that , it is has been extremely underwhelming again. We are not improving and indeed will have difficulty just to stand still this season.

It looked a succes few weeks ago when we all thoght we'll add a few more.

Spot on. I’ve written exactly the same thing in the De Gea thread and have gotten flogged for it.

To be clear,, Onana is an upgrade on De Gea, but the keeper position was not nearly as high a priority as a striker. So what did we do? We bright in a proven keeper and an unproven striker.

Not saying I disagree with you (I think another striker is a must) but who should we have signed that is proven? The market for centre forwards is dryer than the Sahara.

Long gone are the glory days when we were scouting the likes of Manucho, Dong, Bebe, Buttner and Bellion.

We got lucky a few times but the majority of the low risk punts in the Fergie years were terrible. Our scouting network has been awful for a long time. The best punt we took was on Forlan, but then gave up on him pretty quickly before he started tearing it up in La Liga.

Mount was an abysmal signing. Not because he's a shite player - he's not, just extremely average, but because we didn't need him and we paid £60m for a player in the last year of his contract which simultaneously took away money elsewhere.

It's just that we pay such outrageous wages. Any club buying our players have to break their existing wage structure to accommodate our players. On the off chance we have someone of value like Maguire, we are ending up having to pay out their contracts as well.

I know that this will sound spoiled (because it is) but my mind in this window was completely focused on Osimhen and Kane. I would literally trade all our signings for one of them.
Mount's form and Hojlund's injury didn't help too.:wenger:
