Our set-piece defending

Sinful. Embarrassing. Pathetic. Every single player and staff member should be ashamed

It’s embarrassing how bad we are at it. Clearly a weakness & it’s being exploited by opponents.

Been an ongoing huge issue. A quarter of the goals we've conceded in the league have been from set pieces. That's horrible.

Why do all our players treat a set piece as if its some panic inducing nightmare? It's like they suddenly lose any composure

If we go through an entire pre-season and come out this inept at set-pieces again next season then we really do have a problem with our coaches.

For all his flaws, Maguire's defensive aerial presence is vital for this team. We're a mess defending set piece. It's no longer just DDG lack of commanding of the box, our the players around the GK are just clueless.

Not enough coaching, or at least successful coaching. Someone is doing a terrible job coaching

I knew this thread would be bumped.

It was a great cross to be honest

17 set piece goals conceded this season in all competitions and not sure that includes ones like jota tonight.

Its not even funny. Somebody needs to be out of a job

The corner we conceded from was unbelievably badly defended. From McTominay and Henderson, to the blocking of the shot, to not one player managing to block Phillips and to leave Jota alone. Shite all around.

The second goal was a great cross and should have been defended better by Pogba.

The one biggest issue of this season. Whatever we end up doing this season will be in spite of this appalling record from defensive set pieces. We could sign Kane, Sancho and Haaland next season but if we don’t get this sorted, we’ll still be adrift from the top of the league. Do the feckin basics correct.

Think I saw a stat that said a quarter of all goals we conceded are from set pieces? It's bad with Maguire, but without him.. ffs

To be fair we probably look amazing in training as we are equally as useless in attacking set pieces.
So true. Inept attacking set pieces vs Inept defending set pieces. Everything is fine in training.

Think I saw a stat that said a quarter of all goals we conceded are from set pieces? It's bad with Maguire, but without him.. ffs

20 open play goals, 4 pens, 2 own goals and 13 set peice goals. 14 if you wanna count the first goal

We should get a coach exclusively for this. Is clear whatever they're doing is not working.
