Our medical staff

We should probably blame them for the poor transfer deals we’ve done too. Bastards.
Genuinely no idea what you’re trying to insinuate here? That our medical team aren’t in any way responsible for our horrendous medical record?

Not insinuating anything, it’s a tongue in cheek reference to them being the cafs latest space goat! :D
Obviously they have a responsibility, especially if they are not picking up injuries when a player is telling them he is in pain.
I wouldn’t pay too much attention to what I say, it’s mostly crap! :wenger:

Doctors miss things all the time anyway. It's not incompetence, it's just humans being humans.

I don’t think you can equate doctors missing things in general to a senior veteran pointing out exactly where it hurts and they still can’t find it. And then he’s able to back it up with an independent check-up.

And if things like this keeps happening then it definitely reflects on their performance as medical professionals. Humans make errors, that doesn’t mean we should just accept mediocrity.

Sure you can.

"It hurts" is meaningless. Martial is always in pain, Rooney always played.

All that's happened here, as far as you know, is that one doctor has said "there's nothing wrong with you" and another, who's being paid by the player directly, has agreed with the player.

At what point does the doctor have any culpability?
Or are you saying no matter the injury missed or the misdiagnosis it can never be the doctor’s fault?

And it hurts is not meaningless. If a patient tells me he is in pain in a specific area, it definitely is not a meaningless statement.

P.S It was Martial complaining about pain. It was Casemiro.

Martial was an example of a player who's always injured.

At what point does a doctor have culpability? Exactly. Best agree that he's injured then, zero come back, zero risk. It's the job of a physio and/or surgeon to fix the issues anyway, pass it down the line, take the money and keep the customer happy.

You have not answered the question. What kind of injury issue could happen to a United player that would make you believe the doctors dropped the ball?

Something went wrong with Martinez’s injury rehab from last season meaning he re-injured the same area earlier this season.

They misjudged Malacia’s injury which led to the club letting Reguilon go, only for Malacia to be ruled out for the rest of the season.

Now this Casemiro news.

In what scenario would you be willing to blame the medical team?

P.S Very strange of you to bring up Martial a player who is always missing games due to pain when we are discussing Casemiro, a player who does not often miss games due to pain. That should have been the first red flag for the doctors.

This isn't a United specific issue though. Every club is going through exactly the same things all the time.

Neither of us know anything about it, so there's no scenario I'd blame them really - they'll all be highly qualified professionals, and I'm not.

Anyone with a remotely responsible job will have had ignorant people questioning the way they work - I don't see the need to do that here - I'd just be another ignorant moaner.

Fair enough. It would however be strange if you have ever criticised a manager or player before, or even a sports journalist, seeing that you are not a professional and all that. That would make you an ignorant moaner.

This is one department that they could swap out entirely. Even if they get that wrong it won't get worse.

We criticise footballers and managers for being crap in comparison to other footballers. I'm not sure what medical teams we're all comparing United's to. I'm sure you could find stats somewhere, but we all know from football that stats never tell the whole picture.

You'd need 100 flies on the walls of Europe's top 100 club's medical centres to actually make any kind of judgement. Otherwise we're just moaning.

Everything's a judgement call. Doctor in Barcelona could be more cautious, who knows. Doesn't make him right. Doesn't make our lot wrong.

Doctors miss things all the time anyway. It's not incompetence, it's just humans being humans.

You are completely right. They might have done an ultrasound which is a relatively subjective examination. Casemiro says it hurts at this point and our doctors say everything looks normal here, then the other paid more cautious doctor says "it's possible there might be some edema here". I really wouldn't use this a stick to beat our medical staff. I suppose you just trust the players, which might be hard when there's pressure from the management to declare them fit to play.

I’m thinking with Brailsford around, this department is going to get a complete overhaul in the coming months.

I don’t really know if it’s an issue that needs fixing. It’s not like clubs have a hospital on site that needs huge money to keep up to date and we already have a large medical team. I’d also doubt we’ve just hired unqualified or bad doctors, it’s very competitive to get a job in any sport (let alone football and for United) for any medical professional.

Im not sure anyone even asked/confirmed re the Casemiro story if the club sent him there/advised him to seek specialise help because there won’t be a specialist within any PL club. All these clubs send their players to external specialists for specific injuries.
