Our Last Ten Games…

Greenwood has been playing fairly regularly. Sancho hasn't. Yet another bad buy so far, like VDB, who after spending well over £100 mill for, Ole wont put in the team unless its panic stations.

The way he sets up isn’t suited to technical players so Pogba in midfield or Sancho on the wing exposes his shitty tactics because they don’t run a lot. Hard working players with 2-3 pacy players for the counter attack is all Ole can do, when asked to go on the front foot he’s useless.

A technical manager with our squad of players would be laughing.

Just get Ole Out before he rots the club even more :(

This run includes 3 hammerings and 2 of the wins were literally Ronaldo saving our asses.

How much longer can we let this go on ? It’s relegation form.
I personally think the board are letting Ole ride out this difficult run of fixtures before even considering taking any action. They would never want a new manager to come in and face the toughest teams in the league straight up.
Similar to how Jose was sacked after the Liverpool game and then Ole was given a nice run of 14 odd games where he won them all.

Things look grim with Ole continuing to be in charge. We will most likely lose against Arsenal, who to their credit has bounced back to a degree since their disastrous start, and certainly lose against Chelsea. 3 points vs Watford is far from guaranteed as well.

Our CL run is in jeopardy as well, with unneeded pressure brought on by the hapless loss vs YB. Wouldn't be surprised if Villareal knocks us out to another uninspiring season of EL.

It was obviously coming though from the previous games. We were never playing well at any point this season, just had a very kind fixture list to start. We have a kind fixture list again starting in December for a few months, so if Solskjaer survives until then expect some cliches how we've turned a new corner after beating Norwich.
I’ve said it before but when we signed Varane, Ronaldo and Sancho I felt there would be nowhere to hide for Ole. Performances would have to be so much better than previous seasons. I felt Sancho might struggle due to the type of player he is….not because of his ability. I felt Varane and Ronaldo would not get Ole as manager or accept the lack of coherent system they would play in. I felt other players like Bruno, Pogba, Maguire etc would have higher expectations and be more unwilling to accept a system that doesn’t enable them to be the best they can be.

I’m confident all of this is happening now. I lost all hope after the Wolves game and we won that.

How many times have we won more than 2 games in a row in 2021? Once. Thanks to a couple of Europa League ties.

No matter how far back you go in 2021 our consistency hasn't been good enough.

That’s ridiculous :(

Our record this season in all competitions:

P16 W7 D3 L6 GF27 GA25

To say that's absolutely pathetic, is an understatement.

I’d argue we are

Listen, Ronaldo scores goals. There is nothing taking away from that. Everyone wants him at the club, he's right up there with King Eric.

The argument around Ronaldo is that the entire team sets up differently. As a collective we are significantly weaker this season than last. This YouTube video describes it more meaningfully than any textpost, so here:

Think of it as a system that works in (relative) harmony. A new link in the chain has a higher personal output but behaves differently in the harmonic system. Its not necceserily a negative, but it is a problem that needs resolving, and so far we have frankly been unable to figure out how to remain one coherent unit and work with the link up top.

The defense is the same apart from an incredible upgrade. The midfield is the same, everything is the same, and yet team performance is so much worse.

Our entire structure is, or at least was, centered around the high press that starts at forward position. We can no longer do that because one chain with a higher output does not do one task that the collective relies on to function. With Edi up top that sorted itself out v Tottenham because Edi presses.

Ronaldo scoring goals is always used as a stick to beat the argument that he doesnt press with, but the collective not functioning is supposedly completely unrelated.

There is a very valid discussion to be had that Ronaldo makes us worse as a team because the entire team is unable to adapt to a new reality where one link is stationary, while also aknowleding that his offensive output is remarkable, and contribution off-pitch is invaluable.

Ronaldo not pressing and hounding the buildbup play like a Cavani would do is not to blame for Shaw and Maguires comical fall from form, or Pogbas giveaway recordbreaking efforts, but its definitely a discussion that needs to be had with whoever is in charge in 2 weeks.

Tom Cato, you understand that the football is a dynamic sport? Just because you finish with a X amount of point and place at the Y place in a F given season, that doesn't mean you will repeat the same result next season, if you have the same squad, and play exactly the same.
Any football fan should have known this, instead of trying to blame their best player to date.

And let's be realistic. Last season we have all the luck in the world, and Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham was bar terrible, as well as City to one point of the season, and they switch gear after that. Finishing 12 points behind the first place, ain't close.

Also we get tons of Decision/VAR/Penalty in our favor, some of which were nonexistent. And as usually happen, this season already there is quite a few decision that didn't go our way. There is at least 2 penalty this season that hasn't been given to us, that was 100% clear. As well as some very close offside calls.

But again the equation doesn't contain only us, you have 20 teams, which can improve or get worsts. And a lot of teams this season obviously improved.
You also have all the players that are X magnitude that can either under or overperform.
There is quite a tons of example of bang average players/teams which have insane seasons and in the next one they are back to their level again. Which obviously happen with Ole and us.

And one last thing. People heard somewhere that Ronaldo didn't press or judge by 1 game, and repeat this till the end of time. Ronaldo was probably the only one that was actually trying, and there is quite a lot of of times where he press, but no one else help him.
Pressing doesn't work like that, and sorry, but we have never played a high pressuring football and use that as a style.

And a Striker can't be the problems for our midfielder and defensive problem. But it's obviously the opposite. I bet that with better quality players and producing better football than this, he will also perform better.

Ronaldo is actually the type of player that rise the level of the team and his teammate, and made ordinary players look good. This is a fact. Ibrahimovic is such a player as well.

Just pull the plug on this whole thing. Time of a change.

Well, 3-2-5 isn't quite relegation form - it would have put us 15th last season, with 42 points, between Southampton and Brighton. But it certainly is lower half of the table form.

But I think you're right in pointing out that where we are now is not a place where we can remain.
