Watching Varane during and after the cup final really warmed my heart. His passion and love for the club was something special and I only wish we had him for the absolute peak years of his career. But I am grateful for the time we had him and the 2 trophies he helped us win.

This got me thinking, who are the players that we had for a relatively brief period of time but who have made a lasting and favourable impact on the club? They can’t be considered legends because they weren’t here long enough but will definitely always be remembered fondly by Manchester United fans.

Varane is one, Tevez would have been another if he didn’t go to city. Ander Herrera is probably another to many fans, anyone else?

Ibra was a real pleasure for me, such a big personality and it was really cool to see him live in a United shirt.

Only fond memories of his time here and I wish we had kept him for another year.

Great call, imagine Ibra under Fergie!

Ricardo.

Gave away a penalty with his first touch and saved it with his second.

Dion Dublin, he sacrificed his leg for the good of the team.

Evans. Meant to mentor U21, end up 2nd to Dalot on appearance

The thing about Ibra is you never felt that love from the fans was equally reciprocal or mutual.

Ibrahimovic had the biggest impact. RVP was intended to be longer term than he ended up being so not sure he counts.

Stam, RVP come to mind. How short is short though? A couple of seasons?

Evans
RVP
Ibra
Schweinsteiger (personal opinion)

Not sure if Berbatov counts, but if the cutoff is 4 years I'll include him as well.

RVP is the one that springs to mind for me. Helped us win the title, and top goal scorer. Though not sure 3 seasons counts as a short term fling or not. Otherwise Ibra might be the next one.

Veron.

Had a couple of sublime nights away in Europe that blew our minds. Wasn't marriage material but blimey.

Alan Smith. They guy gave his all. Loved his intense, firey, temperment. The broken leg though. That was a horrible day. Was never the same.

Yeah. Right player wrong time. Can you imagine Veron with a player like Park besides him, and Hargreaves/Anderson as the 3rd

Honestly think letting him go will be a mistake. He is our best CB, very unlikely we will replace him with anyone near as good. The only young CB who might develop to be equal is most likely going to RM.

Four years definitely does not meet the criteria. I'd say 2 years max, so don't really think RVP counts either.

Cavani is the one for me, fell in love with him for a season until Ronaldo took over.

You could actually argue Kagawa as well, though it never quite worked out.

RVP - incredible for one year but fell away thereafter.

Hopefully Casemiro will leave at the end of the year and we can say that he had one cracking season out of two.

Larsson is obvious.

Jaap Stam.

Crazy he was only here for 3 seasons - should never have been sold.

Don’t really think Ibrahimovic falls into this category. We were just another in a long list of clubs he landed in for a short time and I never got the sense that he had any special appreciation for us.

Louis Saha? He only showed brief glimpses of what the attack could have been with Rooney and Ronaldo.

Diego Forlan and Michael Owen for me. Their respective winners against City and Liverpool will always stay in my heart
