Nocturnes has been my favourite doc this year.I just want The Remarkable Life of Ibelin to win best documentary. I don't care about anything else.
(Black Box Diaries was also a good documentary though)
Beaten by Robbie Williams in every category.
Like clockwork.Seems like a really weak year for films.
There are some excellent films there. I question your taste.Cheval du Gasp, I think you will find it is actually called.
---------------
Seems like a really weak year for films. As usual there will be some foreign films that will salvage the year, but in terms of general Oscars fare there hasn't been a whole lot to bark about.
Daniel Craig for Queer? Ralph Fiennes? Kneecap for song?
Variety has this list as possible for Best Picture:
Anora
The Brutalist
A Complete Unknown
Conclave
Dune Part 2
Emilia Perez
I'm Still Here
A Real Pain
The Substance
Wicked
That makes for some sober reading.
If Emilia Perez wins anything I'm gonna have an aneurysm.
Cancel this shit show, now!
AgreedNo, Conan is hosting. Finally worth watching
Wait til you meet wibble. (Sorry wibble.)There are some excellent films there. I question your taste.
Like the first robin of spring, a joyful sight, you mean!Like clockwork.
I haven't seen any of those apart from Dune 2, which was OK but forgettable (and I love the director normally), and Kneecap, which was fun but it would be truly bizarre if anything as left field as that got anywhere near an Oscar, even for music.Agreed
Wait til you meet wibble. (Sorry wibble.)

Yea, a few gems, but also two films that are half a film (Dune 2, Wicked), a broad pop horror (?) film that reeks of career award instead of specific film (Substance, Demi Moore), a flaccid biopic from a director who specializes in flaccid biopics (Complete), and a florid “musical” with almost no songs in it (Emilia Perez). Even compared to last year this is underwhelming. Last year Oppenheimer, American Fixtion, zone of Interest, Anatomy of a Fall, Holdovers, Barbie (last year’s The Substance?), Maestro, Killers of the Flower Moon, Past Lives, Poor Things. That is a more bountiful list. Even though I disliked a lot of those films, the breadth and artistry on display was greater. There are some excellent films there. I question your taste.
As a wise man once said - “Pour me some bubbly now its all you gotta do. It's Christmas in Tinseltown.”Should they be cancelled?
You watch the monologue on YouTube the day after. That way you don't want to watch a borefest of who has the most friends. No, Conan is hosting. Finally worth watching
Didn't even notice! Surprising indeed after winning the GG.Not even a nomination for the Challengers score. Surprising.
Not surprising, the academy are patheticNot even a nomination for the Challengers score. Surprising.
Trent Rezor is crying right now. Hope you’re happy @Scarlett DracarysNot even a nomination for the Challengers score. Surprising.
none for different man eitherLooking at the full list, not a single nomination for Challengers or Queer. Bleh.
Supposed to be good?Looking at the full list, not a single nomination for Challengers or Queer. Bleh.

There's an article today that discusses this gaming of the categories. Saldana was in 44% of the screen time, and Gascón was in 40%, yet Saldana is in as Supporting and Gascón as Lead. Kinda like The Bear winning the Emmys for Comedy, they engineer the category to increase their odds. I don't know how they got away with it this time.Nice lobbying and riding the wave by Emilia Perez. Surprised Zoe Saldana is in it as supporting actress, I thought she'd have enough screentime to be in the lead actress category. Only good thing about that film.
This list of nominations goes some way towards proving it was a weak year for films.Like clockwork.
I'm kinda hoping Sean Baker runs the table. So many of these nominees are Hollywood bloat, or pure pop instead of having any artistry. I've whittle down the list a little bit!Oscar Nominations 2025

I loved it, but I'd say on the technical side (editing, sound editing and score), it's surprising they didn't get any nods. It's a very accomplished film from that perspective.Supposed to be good?
