Quite simply one of the best comedies of all time. If you have never seen it here are some clips to whet your appetite.

So many more too!

I actually watched Season 1 the other day and found it to be funny. Not as good as some of their later stuff, but by far and away better than most comedies that are out today (If you can call them comedies).

Absolutely love this, first time I saw it I was in absolute stiches. Watch Delboy's face near the end and you can see he is struggling to contain his laughter:lol::lol:

Some great clips chosen here...the moment when Rodney is conscripted into the 'Groovy Gang', is also up there with the classics.

Best British comedy ever in my opinion. Yes, even better than Fawlty Towers.

The Batman & Robin moment is my favourite.

You are absolutely correct.

My favourite part is the the classic scene in the Wine Bar with Trigger, when the bar gets lifted up and Del Boy falls through the gap. Must have seen it hundreds of times, but still makes me laugh. :)

Only got into it recently. Have seen ten odd of the more famous episodes and loved each one. Comedy Gold !!

I don't see how anyone couldn't love this show. It did go on for a little longer than it should have, and some of the shows missed the mark, but when it was good it was the best comedy show ever made, hands down.

Absolutely brilliant. They don't make them like this anymore!

I agree, but the very early ones were poor, and it went on for far too long. There was one hell of a lot of crap between the great moments, but when it was great, it was really great.

:wenger:

I've loved this since i was a small child and will do till the day i die.

Best comedy show ever.

I wasn't disagreeing with anything.

It was just the fact that Bilbo basically repeated your post, more or less word for word...

I should have been more clear, I apologise

Now that you mention it, it was pretty close.

Thats going to be my new thing. Find a post I agree with, put it in a word jumbler, and repost it as my own opinion.

I downloaded an mp3 of the music that plays over the end credits just the other day. I want to find one of the opening theme song too. Classic series.

Generally excellent and the best bits were brilliant. If you had to find a quibble it would be that it wasn't as clever or intelligently written as Blackadder or Python. But then what was?

Blackadder probably takes the title, although Fools and Horses was funny as feck.

Never seen Blackadder, but I am in need of a new comedy so am going to buy* season 1.

*Download.

Season one is crap, best starting at 2 and go back to 1 after you have seen the rest up to 4.

OF is top class comedy!

The misses bought me the seasons box set for me birthday :)

Need to find time to watch it all though!

I've never seen Blackadder either.

Porridge is class too.

I didn't know that there was anyone in the entire of the Uk who hadn't seen Blackadder.

Series 1 is pretty ordinary but the rest are pure genius.

Blackadder didn't have the mass appeal or longevity of Fools and Horses. I bet if you polled a thousand people Fools and Horses would win hands down.

Nothing comes close to Fawlty Towers for laughs, that was a hilarious series. People all over the world have seen Fawlty Towers, its a classic.

Edited - poll: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Britain's_Best_Sitcom

The Vicar of Dibley comes third so the opinion of the masses isn't exactly the most reliable method of assessing quality. OFAH was very good, albeit a very traditional British sitcom, particularly in the middle few years but it is light years away from the brilliance of Blackadder which was both hilarious and clever. Which isn't a bad thing because very little, including Fawlty Towers, is as good overall. Blackadder Goes Forth is possible the best comedy series ever made anywhere combining the best of Blackadder 2 and 3 with a much darker sense of irony.

I was a regular watcher of OFAH for some of it's run although I lost interest later on but I wouldn't bother watching a whole episode again, unlike Blackadder. it is still hard to go past the best of Python. The way their best episodes linked sketches together is still unsurpassed.

Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister should also be much further up the list than they are.
