One failed United player to play in this Amorim team?

Depends on the parameters of the question.

Sanchez is one of the best players to massively flop for us, but history tell us he had permanently declined by the time he signed for us, so I don't know whether you count him.

Martial as left-sided 10/second striker/inside forward.

Mkhitaryan, Blind, Herrerra, Fred, Veron...

Veron next to Ugarte would have been great to see in my opinion.

I would loved to off seen that also. The passing and visom of Veron and Ugarte aggression seems a perfect combo. Veron United career is slightly underrated. Nowhere near as bad as the media have carried on.

You could say the same for Laurent Blanc though he wasn't a massive flop his best days were way behind him, Bastian Schweinsteiger as well

MG
Sancho Amad
Reguilon Pogba Ugarte Dalot
Shaw Maguire Yoro
Henderson

True, though if you are brought in to improve a midfield of Keane and Scholes, plus Beckham (who was also keen on a spot in the middle) expectations are always going to be astronomical.

I loathe him but prime Di Maria would be pretty awesome in this scheme.

If it's the prime version, Schweinsteiger. A double pivot of him and Ugarte would be an absolute bastard for anybody to play against.

If it's the United version, maybe Hargreaves for the five minutes he was fit.

I cannot tell if you are being serious
he's been decent at Inter, think he won the league with them last season and was a regular starter there, they play 352, with 3 CMs and 2 STs, but he is usually the most advanced of the 3.

Either Juan Mata or Pogba with the license to roam away from defensive duties.

Can you imagine if we had Pogba playing in the way Bruno is. The guy manipulated a football with ease. We'd just lose out on Brunos defense that he brings.

Was Hargreaves a failure? Part of arguably our best-ever season the one year he was fit.

I always thought we should have made Pogba the 10 and built the team around him.

Gary Neville said something interesting for months back. He was signed as the first steps to change from a 442 team to 4231 . Think Scholes was going to play off Ruud. But the players didn’t adapt quick enough. They ended up switching back quickly . Always remember being absolutely buzzing when we signed him. Shame it didn’t work as well as we all wanted. Good point on Beckham. Another player who only works on the right in a 442. Definitely had the vision to play in the middle. Remember him running the show once for England playing there.

Several would be quite good in this team. Mkhitaryan, Di Maria, Schneiderlin, Blind, Pogba.

Got there in the end with the 4-2-3-1 though didn't we?

The three I thought of were all players Ferguson said he "regretted" letting leave the club, upon a Google search.

I was going to say Forlan, Rossi and Pique as my top three, they'd be monsters for us today, but then I won't look special since that's literally Ferguson's

TBF only Forlan was really a flop, Rossi got injured and Pique left because he wanted playing time

Right, but he was clearly not good enough in EPL, even when he was much younger.

A lot of players shine in Italy, having failed here. Very different league

You are not wrong, but the OP said players who failed at United, in my mind that meant anyone, or was it about players who failed at United but were actually good, someone like Mata or Pogba?
