One-day International Series - England vs Australia

Hastings bats a bit, doesn't he?

watching the India game, will switch over to this one if they get another 20 runs without losing a wicket..

How come we can bat & bowl in the Test matches but in the ODIs, we can do neither.

Maybe its because we broke up a winning team to play the ODIs, now our momentum is lost, the World Cup will be a humiliating disaster and we will go into the Test Series against India on a downer and get shafted.

Basically T20/ODI is shite...

how can you say T20/20 our is shite we have just won 8 games on the bounce , agree about one dayer's , but we will do well in the World Cup

The point is, we came out of the Ashes on an enormous high and in order to compete against India that high needs to be maintained....

Without Brett Lee, you'd have much more of a chance. He's been sensational for us. Even if he doesn't get 3-5 wickets every game, he's bowling exceptionally well with good pace. Not many bowlers can bowl as fast as he does and hit the spot almost every time.

4 on the wins required to win the series that is very hard.

Lee back on song

Graeme Swann is out of the one-day series with Australia with a back injury but is expected to be fit for the start of the World Cup next month.

Bresnan is already out with a calf strain.

The whole team could do with a rest before the World Cup starts.

ECB should never have agreed to all these extra games after the Ashes. :(

The games were necessary, but 5 would have been enough...with the WC just around the corner, the team needed to get into the flow of one day cricket again.

On the other hand, the way the groups are set up in the WC, the big nations are ALL guaranteed a passage into the next round, so the group stage matches could have been used as preparation.

Anderson should come back into the team and all eyes will be on Prior after his complete failure with the bat so far. Big game for Collingwood as well, if he plays.

We'll win tonight if Pietersen comes in for Collingwood and Anderson for Wright.

I have 25 quid waiting for the team news...

Am I alone in not being enamoured by ODI cricket? I think I may be biased being English, since we have traditionally been fairly shite at the shorter forms, but I much prefer Tests.

If there was a choice of winning a Test series in India or the World Cup in India, I would have to go for the Test series.

I thought we were the World Twenty20 Champions! :wenger:

Hence 'traditionally'.

We were the last of the big 8 to win an ODI tournament.

This mediocrity has coloured my views.

Oh, and the World Cup lasts far too long. The one in 2015 has four fewer teams but only one/two fewer matches. Go figure. It's a huge cash cow for the ICC.

Go again on Sunday morning, if we can get another one back, should make for an interesting series after all...
