No idea who he was 30 minutes ago but seems a decent appointment and a clear indication of how INEOS are going to approach the football side of the club which is good news.

I’m just happy it’s actually a football man that’s gotten the job haha. I’m not going to pretend I have a clue what he does at City or even what he will do with us, but getting a fella in with actual honest to god football experience is such a step up.

and therefore would be held accountable for some of it.

On paper it sounds like a great appointment. Want to focus on the future but it really is annoying seeing a press release where the club admit that football hasn’t been a consideration for a very long time.

So he was a CEO that wasn't involved in City's systematic cheating happening on his watch. Of course he will have presumably known nothing about it all too. He certainly sounds like the finger on the pulse, switched on guy his reputation suggests. Something's just not sitting right with this for me yet.
Apparently worked in the media department at Barcelona, and started in the commercial side of Man City before moving to the football side in 2020 only.
Strange that this place is so happy when the recurring complaint on the Caf was to get people with « proven track record » and not people from commercial background.
That might be one of the best club statements I've read from United in the past few years.

His resume actually shows he’s not a football man.

Yeah I suppose you and others are right and I've been thinking the same as the days gone on. Getting United back to the best and being at the club when it happens must be much more satisfying than anything City have done to be brutally honest.
He is also going to go from a relatively unknown employee at board level for City to our CEO and a household name overnight.
It's a very positive move for the club.
Can’t say I’ve heard of him but after months of links to multiple different people for this position it’s nice to see us actually appoint someone. It’s not going to be an immediate fix but let’s hope it’s becomes a smart appointment along with whoever becomes our new DOF
Hard to say in details as I just checked his Linkedin profile to be honest and he didn’t detail his missions.
But he appears to me as mostly a commercial guy by formation and by trade.
I don’t have any particular views on his nomination though. Football is a very peculiar industry where track record is rarely indicative of future success when a person switches club.
He might come good, he might not. But I hope he will come good

He has plenty of experience for a CEO role. Football decisions regarding the squad will still sit with the incoming director of football.
Yeah that’s fantastic experience for the CEO of a football club. Infinitely more football experience than either Woodward or Arnold had. By football man, we aren’t talking about ex-player or ex-manager or even a DOF, because he’s not coming in as a DOF. But someone actually involved in the football side of the business which this lad has been alongside his lengthy experience on the business side.
