Murray has just lost his first round match 7-6, 6-4 against Lu from Taipei.

Expected great things from him, especially on these hard courts.

Just watching Murray on BBC now. Didn't expect him to go all out considering his Mum came out and said the Olympics may harm his season. Still, a disappointing loss.

Paes/Bhupathi in quarter-finals.. will play winner of Federer/Wawrinka vs Tursunov/Youzhny

Hang on Mr. "America are the best in the world ever, FACT", can I ask where Blake and Roddick are ranked?

What do I care? Roddick as awful a player as he is still has won a Grand Slam, something Murray hasnt, I will respect him after he does.

Federer clearly has some motivation issues at the moment. He looks tired, makes easy mistakes and just overall doesn't seem to have his mind to it.

Veiled attempt at saying, I am shit at tennis

no, I'm not that bad at it.

better at doubles than at singles. backhands and poaching returns are the best aspects of my tennis game.

haven't played much in the last 8 years mind you.

Not motivation issues, more like a lack of confidence.

Bad result for Federer again. He needs to just erase this year and start off the next one with a clean slate.

Who are Bhupathi and Paes playing in the quarters? Really hope they can get a bronze at least. It'll be nice for us to win a medal in a proper sport.

Didn't people on here predict he'd do his usual "up my level for the tournaments that really matter" trick and that he'd win the Olympics (which he kept bigging up all year long and saying how it'd mean as much to him as a wimbledon win) and US Open?

I think that trick's done with.

Backhands are my weakness

my forehand is hot as hell though

my forehand is shite. topspin is not my friend when hitting forehands but I can volley quite well.

we could be doubles partners. how is your serve?

Federer and Wawrinka I read. Not sure what chance they have though I have not been watching the Olympic Tennis.

Horrible performance from Federer. This year is essentially a write-off for him. I don't see him winning in Flushing, so he's going to come out the other side of this year with a few runners up medals, and little else.

Hopefully he can get his confidence, and motivation back, but it's far from certain. Hate to see it.
